He certainly has the experience, so if he manages to pick up points over the whole race in intermediate sprints.
If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell.

Ye i agree with both of you, and he might gain some points on cavendish during the cobble-stage. |

I think Boasson-Hagen might be a competitor for the green jersey too. |

Maybe, but remember this will be his first Tour de France. I think he'll try and win a stage or three, and then just take the rest as a bonus. |

Maybe so, but i think he will just go for some victories. I belive thats his main objetive. And then the green jersy might be a "bonus objetive" if things work out well for him

Don't forget Farrar

Farrar, green - No chance.

Hagen isnt Cavendish. He isnt going to be going to the Tour for 'multiple victories' - he will do well to get 1.
If Cavendish and Hushovd are seen as the 2 favourites for Green, Id place Farrar next, alongside someone like Petacchi if he is riding.

Lampre will send both Petacchi and Cunego to the Tour, and since i assume Cunego won't go for the GC, Petacchi should get enough support from the team to fight for green. He looks to be in good shape. |

I think this Andy Schleck character is going to be a star of the future. Just you wait.

nah, he will be lucky to ever be a GT contender, I reckon the best he can hope for is supporting his bother in a Wegalius type role

Edvald can climb, Cav and Thor can't. Thats an HUGE advantage.
But we have to wait and see

Cavendish and Hushovd are better sprinters, and have actually ridden the Tour de France before, finished it, and won stages. Thats a much bigger advantage
And if Hushovd cant climb, what was he doing on the final road stage of the Tour de Suisse?

Totaly agree with you SN. I think Hagen might be able to outclimb Cav but definately not Thor.

Not happening this year. His form isn't anywhere near as good.

"We chose pure slaves," Demol told Het Belang van Limburg, speaking about the likes of Chris Horner, Andreas Klöden and Levi Leipheimer. This trio will join Armstrong, plus Janez Brajkovic, Sergio Paulinho, Yaroslav Popovych, Gregory Rast and Dmitriy Muravyev to form a powerful Tour squad for the American team.
That powerful outfit doesn't include Steegmans, who won a Tour stage in Gent in 2007. Demol was remaining philosophical, however. "You have to be realistic. We could not expect Gert to ride in full service of Armstrong. That would be against his nature. I cannot [allow that] - Gert deserves better," he said.
This was not funny Demol.. |
