Not really a surprise. Lille Metropole lost like all its credibility after Arnaud Molmy leaving Besseges while he was leader before of the last stage.

Sounds suspicious
I thought the UCI only announced it now because they'd given the riders an opportunity to explain the abnormal values, and couldn't?

Arnaud Molmy won the 4th stage of the Etoile de Besseges, and became leader and virtually winner (at least podium was almost granted) of the race.
Howver, the next day he doesn't start the last stage, alleging that he was suffering a gastroenteritis (which is like the less original excuse for an sportsman to not to race/train/whatever).
Either I missed something, or this is extremely suspicious. |

I know the story, yes. I just thought there was more than that that I didn't know about, as I see nothing strange with that.

Well, it's not like I invented that. Di Rocco said it, and now the UCI says he's wrong. And ISD says they may register in another country in 2011.
And regarding Molmy, well, it doesn't seem normal to me that a rider who is leading the GC of a race (small race, but then he's in a small team), suddenly leaves the race because of a gastroenteritis, which is too fragging common among sportsmen (for example, to footballers hangover = gastroenteritis) with just one stage to go.
It's just speculation though, and when it happened I gave it like 0 importance, much like to the rest of billions of gastroenteritis sportsmen have in a season. But that positive made me remember that and wonder if it was something more than we don't know.

Eh? I wasn't directing anything at anyone then... it was more a random quip.

This would be 'good' if after all the hoo-hah the UCI has come up with about the Biological passport, they are not actually able to get anything to stick. |

The rest of the names are to be given tomorrow.
And Bennati has just been pulled out of the Giro with no reason given.

If it is Bennati it will be really bad for Liquigas with two of their biggest stars beinng dopers. Is there any chance that the team will be denied to start the Tour?

I think if they would not be let to Tour then it would get really messy, Liquigas has its place promised to it. It might even be in some kind of contract.

Speaking of Molmy it was said that many peoples from the team had a gastroenteritis but not only riders, there were also team directors, technical helpers etc...
So I'm not sure it is so suspicious : it is a very contagious disease. |
