2 second places! So close to a win, but all can ask for. i was hoping Impey would catch Arishio, but i guess if he was being protected all day it makes sense.
Kalleris is looking like my best buy already. I should of maxed out his race days, that 80 fighter skill seems to be doing just as i hoped |

Doesn't look like I'm going to get much out of Oz, but at least my guys rode well and were active. |

Arashiro has just gone over all expectations, the Tour Down Under remains as unpredictable and just fantastic for my team as ever. The yellow jersey has certainly inspired the performance somewhat.
From my point of view a very exciting stage, with a stupendious result. Another great day for Yamaha - Greenpeace also - jack888 I make an apolegy now for placing your team bottom on my predictions!
A question for the man game vets - compared to previous years is there more strength in depth this year compared to others?
If so do you think it will make it more difficult for good statistical riders to dominate? |

NP, but i stick by my prediction of your team as the #1 new entry I think we probably did each other a favor by taking climbers off each other in the Transfers to end up having to spend the rest on good sprinters.
Anyway, i hope if this form continues my team can get into the top 20 CT standings. |

Another fall in a HC race for a Vespa rider and a very puzzling performance from Proni.
A question for the man game vets - compared to previous years is there more strength in depth this year compared to others?

My take on that question, though I don't consider myself a vet. Second part first.
TT stages nearly always seem to go to the rider with the best stat.
MO stages mostly go with the rider with the best stats winning. Arashiro has won two stages on the flat and in the hills. If he had similar strength in a MO stage a rider like Arashiro would never win if you understand what I'm trying to say there.
HI/FL stages are generally unpredictable and you need a good dose of luck to win one.
As for strength in depth, I'm not sure at this stage. |

More strength in depth? Well, there are more puncheurs in the Conti Tour this season than ever before. Making hilly races even more unpredictable than usual as we saw at Bloemfontein. Normally it'd be a group of 6-12 riders for a finish, now it's more likely to be a group of 10-16.
I still think the "best" riders statistically will win. A lot. Just those riders who did ok last season with just the one stat that was ok, might suffer at the hands of riders with more than one good stat.

In terms of time trialling it feels much weaker than before, but for pretty much everything else more teams means more competition.

Theres definately more depth in the hills this year, and I think probably the sprints aswell - infact, many of the best sprinters in the game are on continental teams.
Time trialling wise, we are probably weaker than last year - sort of a surprise considering how well Jack Wolfskin illustrated its benefits. It seems likely that Ignatiev will step up from last year to take on the Cornu role.
Cobbles its hard to tell. Probably a bit stronger than last year. But its a similar amount of riders as last year who you would expect to be challenging.
And Ive not looked at the climbers in CT enough to really tell - possibly its stronger than last year aswell

And thus ends Wiggle returning to the Tour Down Under ever. Waste of an event.

Uhh, was lucky that Croket did make it in the front group and got bonus seconds enough to get into the top 10 overall

Fantastic stage! Nice sprint and win for Casper and especially great lead-out by Dall'Antonia. That saved my Australian trip. Next stop: Qatar..

Two top 25's and a lot of attacking, can't ask for much more with the competition. |

Individual Rankings
With Bellis having a fairly anonymous race, he finds himself slipping to 3rd in the rankings. The unexpected star of Yukiya Arashiro is the new leader, with his 281 point haul, while Van Heerden builds on his Down Under Clasic result, with 2nd overall here, to move up to 2nd in the rankings. Cavendish rises to 4th, while Croket is in 5th - after his 3rd scoring race of the season. Pozzato and Haedo both slip down the Top 10, Flugel and Impey debut into the Top 10, and rounding it out is Allan Davis, who ultimately could not build on his Down Under Classic victory.

Team
A great stroke of fortune on the last stage saw Pendleton's Twicer have 3 riders in the Top 5 GC< and this catapults them to the top of the leaderboard - 419 points is a huge haul considering their only notable presence in the action was Van Heerden in the sprints, none of which he was able to win. 100% Me also benefited from the final stage splits to move up to 2nd place - Cavendish recovering a GC position, along with his early stage win, making up for the crashes taking out the team's leading puncheurs.
Red Bull find themselves in 3rd now, largely down of course to Arashiro. They scored 323 points in the race, and will almost certainly take over the lead upon the completion of Tachira. Behind them in 4th are Wiggle, who maintain a decent start despite crashes or splits affecting all of their riders - so much more could have been taken from this race for them.
Mercedes-Benz predictably lose the lead, falling to 5th, while UBS fall to 7th - Petronas now inbetween them. Yamaha-Greenpeace made a scoring debut to their season, while Vespa-Caffrey's, Intesa and Milka all also opened their accounts - albeit after a pointsless 1st race each. SL Benfica and YouTube also take their first 'official' points, although much more is coming for them from Tachira. All teams who have raced have now scored, leaving Bimbo Nutella, whose debut is fast approaching in Wellington.

Good results in the end, but Kairelis lost me so many points by abandoning in stage 6. I need to start doping Evans to get those back!
