Stage 5 Tour Down Under
img695.imageshack.us/img695/1838/tdu5profile.jpg
Our goal is to have a rider in the lead group after both of the climbs. And if we can get Boonen in the lead group as well.

img31.imageshack.us/img31/9990/tdu5climb.jpg
On the final climb Kessler attacked and he was followed by Matt Lloyd.

img682.imageshack.us/img682/4056/tdu5boonen.jpg
Boonen also attacked and got in the lead group. Pozzato was the strongest rider in the group so we had to watch out for him.

img408.imageshack.us/img408/2738/tdu5corner.jpg
img36.imageshack.us/img36/812/tdu5corner2.jpg
The riders go around the final turn and now they are on a very long straight to the finish.

img522.imageshack.us/img522/2927/tdu5lastkm.jpgThe sprint had already started and Boonen was in a good place. He was picking up speed but then gets cut off by Pozzato! We were not too happy with that and will be talking with the race officials after the race.

img132.imageshack.us/img132/2999/tdu5winner.jpg
Great Win by Gasparatto though. We had a chance at passing him but then Pozzato did a stupid move and lost us our chance. Great ride by Gasparatto anyway.

Stage 6 (Final Stage) Tour Down Under
img192.imageshack.us/img192/8742/tdu6profile.jpg
Today our goal was simple. Get 6 seconds on Pozzato and we win this years TDU.

img638.imageshack.us/img638/5579/tdu6group.jpg
The wind was very, very strong today and the peloton got split up into diferent sections. Luckily our main sprinters were in the fisrt group. Actually all of quickstep was there and the only strong sprinter accompanying us was Pozzato.

img697.imageshack.us/img697/4811/tdu6sprint.jpg
Kevin Van Impe started off the train. He gave us a huge lead on the rest of the group. It even gave us a small time gap. The sprint started and Boone njust stayed behind Tossato until the final moment. He leaped out from behind Tossato and passed him easily. Boonen was in front. Pozzato was behind Boonen but how far behind. Could he catch up to the Tornado?

img175.imageshack.us/img175/3892/tdu6winner.jpg
The answer is No. The belgian champion won another stage. It was a great all around effort by the team and we will most doubtedly be having a team party tonight!

Stage 1 : Prologue Palo Alto- Stanford University
img26.imageshack.us/img26/8461/amgen1profile.jpg
We've brought a talented group to California. Why? Because we want to do well here. We have always done well here and it's one of our goals to do well in California. Plus its good for riders like Devolder who want to get some fitness for the Classics.

img7.imageshack.us/img7/4748/parisnice1vaitkus.jpg
Tomas Vaitkus is one of the strongest TimeTrialist that RadioShack brought. The other was.....
img682.imageshack.us/img682/6898/amgen1brajkovic.jpg
Janez Brajkovic.

img38.imageshack.us/img38/8982/amgen1boonen.jpg
Boonen had a good time he sat in the top 30 for a bit but then fell back with all the other riders coming in after him.

img709.imageshack.us/img709/9895/amgen1gerdemann.jpg
Linus the "Great disapointment" Gerdemann had an uncharacteristic ride. Finishing 15th +5

img28.imageshack.us/img28/6762/amgen1devolder.jpg
Devolder had a great ride and finished with a good time. He can definately challenge for the GC now. 3rd +0

img210.imageshack.us/img210/4910/amgen1lovkvist.jpg
Lovkvist is Sky's biggest GC hope in California this year so he had to do well. But maybe the pressure got to him as he finishes 26th +8.

img15.imageshack.us/img15/5807/amgen1larsson.jpg
Gustav Larsson the former Olympic Silver medalist in the TT had a decent ride finishing 14th +4

img135.imageshack.us/img135/9538/amgen1meyer.jpg
Cameron Meyer. Finished 33rd. +9

img89.imageshack.us/img89/4687/amgen1mollema.jpg
Mollema one of my favourite riders looked to have a great run but he must have been gased in the final kilometre because he fineshes 29th at +8

img532.imageshack.us/img532/494/amgen1roche.jpg
Nicholas Roche. Finished 87th +15

img98.imageshack.us/img98/5394/amgen1chavanel.jpg
Sylvain Chavanel had a great run he was flying through the course adn then when he hit the line we found out he had moved into 1st. He beat 2nd place Denis Menchov by .2 seconds. And Menchov only beat Devolder who is in 3rd by .36 seconds so the top 3 was very tight. But there are still a few riders to come so maybe Chavanel doesn't have the win just yet.

img707.imageshack.us/img707/9460/amgen1pate.jpg
Danny Pate and Vande Velde really gave us a scare but luckily they didn't have a better time than Chavanel so the win is ours.

[i]Sorry Guys but for some strange reason my pictures like t ohide on me. There was only 2 of the maybe 20 pics I took during the replay showed up in my screenshots folder. It wasn't because of space because it was empty. Does anyone know why it did this?

The race was slow but hard. One man got in the break today. Horrilo of Rabobank. He was alone until he got caught 20km's from the line. Then with 8kms to go about 10 riders crashed. Voigt, Pozzato were the biggest names to crash. Riblon had to abandon. Jens Voigt had an exciting crash as he went flying over his handlebars! His team-mate must have heard and tried winning for his because O'Grady started his own train. But no one could follow him. He even got a timegap on the main group. The sprint started but O'Grady refused or something because he just stayed in his seat. This turned out to be a bad move as he got passed by Blazej Janiaczyk of MRoz Conti Team. Blazej eventually won followed by Van Avermaet of OmegaPharma- Lotto!

This is a stage where Boonen should get some points back from the sprint. I think Boonen is capable of a top 3. Lets hope Stauff can stay in the peloton because we want him to gain experience of what it's like to be in a bunch sprint like this.

img337.imageshack.us/img337/1759/amgen3boonen.jpg
No action today so we start off with the sprint begining. Now as you can see Boonen is boxed in. He treid to get the right wheel today and he might have but it didn't matter as he was stuck. Farrar had a good position and was heading to the front.

img682.imageshack.us/img682/7554/amgen3winner.jpg
The winner is the under 25 leader Greg Van Avermaet. He stayed strong the whole way thru and because of that Wins. Boonen finishes 5th. Pozzato must be feeling the effects of that crash yesterday because he finished 122nd. s.t.

Sorry for the bad news but Only one of my pics from the race was in my screenshots folder again. It was the stage profile. I think I figured out the problem though. Anyway on to the stage.

Engels got in a break of 8 and went thru many sprints 1st. But the break was caught on the final climb. Then Devolder attacked after many of the other favourites attacked. a group of 7 formed including Devolder. On the decent Allan Davis and Samoliav crashed. Samoliav was injured but was able to continue the race. We'll have to wait and hear more about his condition for tommorow. With 7km to go Gesink and Cunego who were at the time back in the peloton attacked and went past the lead group. Devolder and VandenBroeck countered the attacks but VandenBroeck went ahead. He was all alone. Our group of Gesink, Cunego and Devolder were catching but not fast enough. In the end VandenBroeck won. He had a tremendous attack and we have to give him credit for that one. He looks to be stepping out in the role of GC captian on Lotto after Evans left to BMC.

Stage 5 ATOC Seaside- San Luis Obispo
img248.imageshack.us/img248/9098/amgen5profile.jpg
Today is an important day. We want to get any time back today before tommorows time trial. We also made a lineup change. Devolder is the only team captain unlike before when Devolder and Chavanel were both co-captains. Today might be an easier stage than most but we cant get off-guard because the wind is very strong today!

img185.imageshack.us/img185/1976/amgen5break.jpg
Here is todays BOTD. They managed to get all the way to the final climb before getting caught.

img229.imageshack.us/img229/5688/amgen5cataldo.jpg
Lovkvist and Petrov attacked and Cataldo (Quickstep) decided to counter. We didn't feel this was the right time to go for Devolder so we sent Cataldo. He was feeling good today so why not.

img44.imageshack.us/img44/4649/amgen5leaders.jpg
Cataldo was doing well but then the crowd started cheering loudly. Cataldo looked back to see the main favourites. Schleck,Gesink, VandenBroeck, Cunego, Velits. But where was Devolder. Some people said he looked sick today. Could it be true?

img262.imageshack.us/img262/3166/amgen5leaders2.jpg
Well Devolder makes it to the lead droup just before the 5km banner. He did look a little sick but maybe it was just a really good poker face.

img69.imageshack.us/img69/8982/amgen5sprint.jpg
The sprint started with VandenBroeck in the lead but he was easily passed. Devolder tried staying in the slipstream of Gesink. Devolder and Gesink were in the lead. Devolder tried passing Gesink and did but now with only 500m........

img526.imageshack.us/img526/9814/amgen5sprint2.jpg
Schleck and Zubeldia had both passed them. It was going to be close but the question is who was going to win?

img515.imageshack.us/img515/2189/amgen5winner.jpg
Well Zubeldia won the stage. Great acceleration by him to get the victory. Devolder finished 3rd so not bad by him. He's been very consistant.

Too lateSmile
anyway I'll explain. It came that way with the Camerluca SP. Pro Continental teams have the UCi Conti tour logo and Conti teams have Continental logo. I guess they did this to save time but I don't really mind.

img340.imageshack.us/img340/993/amgen7profile.jpg
The race started off slow. A break got away and got a gap of 5 minutes at it's climax. With 50km to go Lots of small american teams decided to give us the day off and they worked very hard to bring the breakaway back. With Jsut over 20km to the finish the break had been caught and the pace in the peloton was now very fast. Riders like Stauff and Cataldo started slipping off the back of the peloton. The trains for the sprint were very disorganized. Probably because of the speed of the peloton. The sprint began and Boonen was already stuck. He had nowhere to go. Then it came, the crashes. Ivanov,Schleck, VandeBroeck, O'Grady who crashed earlier in the race, Hoste, and many more. Luckily no one had to abandon today but it will be interesting to see tommorow if the crashes will affect anyone.

img180.imageshack.us/img180/3167/amgen7winner.jpg
Greg Van Avermaet had a great lead-out from Phillipe Gilbert. He won the stage after surving the acceleration of Petacchi! Van Avermaet has been having a very impressive ATOC so it's no surprise he won another stage. All the riders that were involved in the crashes received the same time as the Peloton.

Stage8 ATOC Santa Clarita- Pasedena
img535.imageshack.us/img535/841/amgen8profile.jpg
Todays tactis are to make sure no big attacks get away from the favourites like CUnego and VandeBroeck. Both of whom are under 45 seconds down on Devolder for the GC lead. If a big attack goes we have to make sure Devolder has enough energy to follow them.

img101.imageshack.us/img101/3250/amgen8break.jpg
Todays BOTD. They got quite a gap today. We let them so we could chase really hard in the 2nd half of the stage.

img145.imageshack.us/img145/265/amgen8devolder.jpg
36km to go and Devolder is attacking because he has to follow 2 attacks Cunego's and Schleck's.

img260.imageshack.us/img260/183/amgen8group.jpg
Thet end up in the same group for a while but since this is the last stage you know theres gonna be more attacks.

img695.imageshack.us/img695/7479/amgen8cunego.jpg
First it was Cunego! VandeVelde and Devolder managed to stay with him.

img707.imageshack.us/img707/7343/amgen8vandevelde.jpg
Then the group behind started attacking and that gave VandeVelde in an attacking mood. Devolder couldn't keep up.

img88.imageshack.us/img88/4235/amgen8group2.jpg
Luckily the group behind Devolder was pedalling hard and caught him and eventually caught Cunego and VandeVelde. Now with 4 km's to go all the favourites were together. But there was still Schar who was ahead of everyone. When the favourites group got to 2 km's....

img98.imageshack.us/img98/3365/amgen8winner.jpg
Michael Schar from the BOTD had won. He didn't have a chance of taking the GC but it was a good win none the less.

img526.imageshack.us/img526/6720/amgen8devolderfinish.jpg
A very monumental shot as Devolder crosses the line with the rest of the favourites to win the Amgen Tour of California. He rode consistently throughout the whole race and I bet everyone in the peloton agrees that he deserves it the most!

img401.imageshack.us/img401/3695/amgen8podium.jpg
Time to celebrate!

Interview with Stijn Devolder + NBC Sports:

Q. So how was it out there today?
A. It was nice the weather was good and I felt fairly strong today.

Q. On a sclae of 1-10 how big was this win for you?
A. Well winning feels great. But it's not Paris-Roubaix so I would say 8.

Q. What are this seasons goals for you?
A. I haven't thought too far ahead. I know I want to race The Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix but other than that I'm not too sure.

Q. What did you think when you heard the reports that Alberto Contador was going to come to Quick-Step after the 2010 season?
A. Well first off he's a great rider and he's won many GT's but I'm not sure if he's the right kind of rider for this team. We have Kevin (Seeldrayers) who might become a great TDF champion one day and Cataldo so the future is still looking good for GC's in a Grand Tour.

Q. Well were out of time is there anything you'd like to say?
A. I just want to thank my teammates for putting me in this position. Without them this would'nt have been possible. I also want to say Hi to my family back home Hi Mom.

Tough day ahead but we beleive we can have a good result.

Some bad crashes to start the day. Chavanel, Boom, Hoste and Nuyens are the biggest names that went down.

img13.imageshack.us/img13/4623/omloopcazauxabandon.jpg
Cazaux of FDJ had to abandon because the injuries were too bad.

img256.imageshack.us/img256/174/omloopvanimpepuncture.jpg
Then Van impe gets a puncture right after and then.....

img169.imageshack.us/img169/7816/omloophulsmanscrash.jpg
......Hulsmans crashes. We have had the worst luck so far.

img696.imageshack.us/img696/8666/omlooparvesen.jpg
Arvesen got in a break and he managed to get 7 minutes on the peloton. It looked like we wouldn't catch him but a late surge by the peloton helped the cause out.

img405.imageshack.us/img405/4537/omloopcanc.jpg
10 Km's to go and Cancellara the beast catches Arvesen. Pozzato also makes the gap. Quickstep not showing up in a classic. This is unheard of.

img709.imageshack.us/img709/8977/omloopsprint.jpg
The sprint starts with Pozzato trailing Cancellara.

img242.imageshack.us/img242/8163/omloopwinner.jpg
But after a great sprint by Pozzato he passes Cancellara and Wins this years running of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad!
