Big bunch sprinting is still a pain in the neck and I'm still struggling cos it's ahrd to work your sprinter through to the front in time as it's just a big mass of humanity.
I think I've scored a third in a full pack sprint with Freire but no better than that...

Much wub to: Cav, Millar, Lovqvist, Cunego, Hinc, Voigt, Cancellara, Menchov.
Wub to: Wiggins, Boonen, Beppu, Kloden, Gesink, Rogers, Moncoutie, Roche.
I too find sprints hard, so I cheat. About 30k from the finish, send your sprinter on an attack. He can usually gain an advantage of 1-2 mins before the sprint at around 20k to go, where you can sprint to a solo victory, or as i most cases, simply hold off the peleton who are knackered chasing you and wont overtake. Not very realistic mind, but its worked on both beginner and normal for me (not tried professional yet).
30km definitely does seem like the "breaking point" on this version - the place to launch a final attack. It doesn't ALWAYS work though.
Also on hills the 50km to go point can be quite successful.

I usually wait till the last hill, or until the favourites go. Its success really depends on the fitness of your guy, its so important in the psp version.
Oh yeah absolutely. Cunego is destroying Rasmussen as the tour goes on cos he's double positive arrow and Rasmussen, who isn't on form at all, is tiring badly every day. Cunego, Popyvytch and and feww others just attack off the front of the last 16 man group every mountain stage in the last 40/30km and no-one can go with them. Dakkor's back up to third overall now though cos he's coming to some nice form. Leading team standings though by 19 minutes from Lampre so a podium + team champs ain't too bad. Mustn't make mistake with 4 stages to go.

I lost a 15 minute lead in the tdf with cunego when he went onto a double red...ended up 3rd, 5 minutes behind winner, and his future team mate, Cadel Evans. I really shouldn't have raced him after the Giro, but I wanted to try for the big double.
Just shows how important fitness really is - 20 minutes lost!
Dakkor took third in the Giro and he's the only member of that five to follow up the Giro with the Dauphine (which interestingly probably has the stronger field of the two).
I've just discovered the sprinting abilities of Max Van Heeswijk after he's just won the second and third stages. The third stage was a break which he sprinted to hold on to (0 second advantage though). The second was a sprint from a way out (about 6/7km - which isn't as far in the PSP version as it sounds) in which he beat Tom Boonen, holding on for the line.
Stage 4 is a 28km time trial which I hope I can guide Dakkor round in order to take overall race lead into the mountains (he's 11 seconds off it). However, Klodey and Vino are in the race and both are monsters up in the mountains.

Hell, you could do that in CyM 2 with equal sucess. I also think ive managed to do it once in PCM07
Dakkor took fourth overall in the tour, ahead of Cadel Evans and Levi Leipheimer and only behind Klodey, some random and Schleck (who's signing for me next season!) He's miles ahead in the overall rankings right now (360 points to 245 Cunego in second) but I think that's his season over - definitely done his job though. May return in the autumn but only for the last few races.
Time for Boogerd, Menchov and Rasmussen to start to take central stage come July.

My greatest achievement (apart from the giro) this season: a win in the deutchland rundfart (apologies for spelling) for Ballan!
Managed to gain enough time in the hills to offset his losses in the two mountain stages. Its handy he has a decent TT too, won the last stage (and my first TT) to sneak victory from Kloden. B)
Hows your career Chris? Has anyone else started one yet?
I'm about to enter the first mountains in the Tour de France. Boogerd is leading by a second after a solo break on a rolling stage to pick up 54 seconds (he was 55 behind the leader after the prologue). Everyone else on the team has only lost time on the prologue (we have no dedicated TTer). Menchov's on form and looking dangerous - happy to break a few times a stage (not that I let him) while Ras is chomping at the bit too. Sadly Freire is getting worse and worse.
Still love the game though bought Cricket Captain on the PSP so been trying that out a bit (I'm useless) and also bought Assassin's Creed on the PS3 last tuesday and adore it ridiculously highly so PCM hasn't been getting so much of a look-in this last week. However I'm off home to Kent to visit my folks at the weekend and getting driven there so will have four hours there and four back to fill with cycling and cricket. Huzzah.

Its pretty playable Justin, although it may shock you how relatively poor the graphics are!
Its pretty good for traveling I would say, but its not as good as the PC version due to the absense of a lot features. I would recommend reading Chris's review before considering a purchase - it sums the game up nicely.
I'd say it's worth buying. The graphics are terrible compared to other versions of PCM and don't exactly rival those of other PSP games, but they're certainly very functional and communicate what you need to know without ever impeding your progress. I really wouldn't let just the graphics put you off.
In terms of gameplay, it handles very differently to other editions of PCM. The fact that you can only have five riders per team changes the tactics, and the feed system is a little infuriating at first, but you adapt quickly once you understand how you're expected to play the game. It's a lot less realistic, but also a lot more suited to the PSP because of this. In fact, I'd say its one of the few "multiplatform" game releases of the year where it's actually worth buying both versions, since they offer such different experiences.
I can see it isolating a few fans and perplexing a lot of PSP owners, but it's addictive, great fun and, most importantly, is a cycling game! I think unlocking classic teams is great, and it also offers me some milestones to aim for when I'm playing. I love it.
