Five-ascent monster stage
Today's stage is a constant up and down through the high mountains of the Savoie and Haute-Savoie. Five classified climbs are on the menu from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Le Grand-Bornand: the Cormet de Roselend (18 km at 6.1 percent), the Col des Saisies (15.1 km at 6 percent), the Côte d'Arâches (6.3 km at 7 percent), the Col de Romme (8.8 km at 8.9 percent) and the Col de la Colombière (7.5 km at 8.5 percent).
The last two climbs will be the most difficult as the ascent to the Colombière will be spiced up by the Col de Romme climb, which makes its first appearance in the Tour. Lance Armstrong took his third consecutive stage win in Le Grand-Bornand in 2004, and Germany's Linus Gerdemann won there in 2007 to take the yellow jersey. This will be a hard, long day for any rider in the peloton.

It would be great if we saw a strong attack group at the Col des Saisies to make the stage interesting.
If a strong group with guys who were 7+ minutes down like Evans, Gerdeman, Sanchez, Feillu, Menchov, Moreau and Pellizotti formed, it would be great.
Will it happen? Probably not. But I'd like to see the guys down a lot TRY to make an early move to force the action. |

I like Nibali, with all the other major contenders (not Armstrong, if you consider him one) not far behind.
@SN: Where you going?

I considered making a bet: Will Evans attack on the first possible mountain? Yes/No |

definitely a hard stage, always up-down up-down...there is like 30km flat...
last two climbs are really hard, both over 8%, I am looking for some action!!!
hopefully Sastre can attack and gain some time on others...expect A.Schleck to attack also
but again...finish downhill |

This is gonna be great, if the race is amde hard from the bottom of Col de Romme it will be a killer. Col de Romme + Col de la Colombiere is harder than Mont Ventoux, and Romme is having the heighest gradient in this years tour. Someone will lose big time tomorow.

Not only that.
1)they have already been racing for almost 3 weeks
2)had a difficult mountainstage today
3)they have 5 climbs in that stage
4) at the foot of the col de romme , they will have no space recover.
I hope we see some of the favourites crack completly.
perhaps Conta won't eat adequate and will lose the tour ( it all can happen see Paris - Nice where they al thought Contador was unbeatable)
personnaly i betted on Nibali (you never know )

I doubt that'll happen again, especially with Armstrong backing him.

I remember some ppl saying during paris -nice. Contador is way to strong and he'll never make noobmistakes like not eating and drinking enough and still it happens
maybe he'll have a landis-bad day, where he will lose minutes.
I find it hard to say right now who's gonna win. the top 10 stand within 3 min.

If they want to crack Contador they have to do something like they did in last years Giro when Di Luca and Ricco both attacked after he was isolated. It's almost like the teams have to gang up and throw all their cards in early. Isolate Contador and hope for the best. |

Jens Voigt said this himself to team saxobank's people:
"I think I was very lucky not getting severely hurt from today's crash. Now I hope that you can focus on the race and I wish you all good luck with the hard stage tomorrow”. |

I am guessing Armstrong and Contador will rule the day. Armstrong has shown he has always ridden well over many passes then short steep ones, like Verbier. I am guessing Vandevelde goes on the attack and picks up some time on the favorites
Also, the Romme they are saying is going to be the hardest climb, because of its gradient and then right before the Columbiere |

This is random but oh well
A good Tour for next year would be a stage to Mount Blanc, a stage to L'Alpe du Heuz and a stage to Mount Ventoux all in the same Tour. It would be very interesting. |
