Breaking news
A pressconference was held today at the team headquarters of the French Protour team, Cofidis - Le Crédit en Ligne. "Overcoming the troubles of recent years has not been easy for the team and organization as a whole" said François Migraine, the chief executive of mainsponsor, Cofidis. "We are however determined to improve ourselves, both on and off the road. Therefore, as of today, the team will be managed by former Euskaltel manager, Mads Mouritzen. Allthough relatively inexperienced, Mads was impressive at Euskaltel untill his employment was cut short by private affairs and disagreements with the management of the team" Migraine spoke long about the decision and the changes to come, before handing over the word to the newly employed manager. He was brief, but very assertive in his statement:
I'd like to thank the sponsors and the directors for this opportunity. Cofidis, at this point in time is a team with a lot of talent, and a lot of experience. However, being realistic, we're not on top of the PT foodchain.
We intend to change this, all of us. Our first goal of course is to get ready for the coming season, and produce some good results. But i can promise you all, that within 2 years, it is our clear intention to be able to contend for top honors in some of the biggest races in cycling. Sorry, but that is it for now, i have a lot of work in front of me. We've prepared a small presentation for you to give you an idea of our expectations for this season.
Presentation
Goals for this season, as set by our sponsors. We feel these are reasonable and we're convinced we will perform well over ours sponsors expectations. The top10 in La Fleche Wallonne will be a challenge though!

Roster overview, January 1st - 09.

Rider spotlights:
David Moncoutie
Moncoutie is our main man in the mountains. Stagewins in the Tour, and if possible, the Polkadot jersey, is going to be the biggest goals for him this season.

Alexandre Usov
Fast on the line. Alexandre will be one of the guys we're going to be looking at for the fast finishes. He might not be as fast as the likes of Bennati and Cavendish. But good i fully expect him to have a decent amount of wins under his belt at the end of the season.

Leonardo Duque
Our other fast finisher. Duque has the added quality of being very durable in tough races. Where we will have to watch and deliver Usov perfectly Duque can make stuff happen on his own. A fighter, good good in the breaks, decent when the road starts to rise. A very good allround rider.

Remi Pauriol
Remi has lots of talent. A good climber, resilient, relatively young.
We will be counting on him to produce results in the mountains throughout the season. He will also be instrumental in the Tour, either by helping David or riding his own chance.

Rein Taaramae
This young man is VERY exciting. We'll be carefull to give him time to develop himself this season. He is young, and he needs to improve in many areas before he reaches his full potential. Rein will be focusing on his development rather than his fitness for most of this year.

Samuel Dumoulin
This is a face you'll be seeing a lot this season. We're an attack minded team, and Samuel will be out in front of the peleton a lot. Something he does very well, and with a strong finish, i hope to see good results from him.

Amael Moinard
Amael is going to be one of our most frequent helpers in the mountains. He will also be a source of a lot of attacks early when the menu of the day is mountains or hills.

Stephane Auge
You all know him. You've spent countless hours watching Stephane in breakaways on the television. Expect more of the same.

Mickael Buffaz
And if Stephane Auge is not there, Buffaz probably is! He is basically Stephane Auge minus the wrinkles!

Transfers:
We've picked out a young climber from the pool of riders with no contract this year. He looks quite interesting and we've offered him a reasonable contract.

Schedule, January:
First on the programme is 6 days in southern France in pre-season training. Then, we're attending two races later in the month. We'll also be signing new staff and sponsors.
22-27 - Tour Down Under
16-31 - Tour of Qatar
Note: The racing will not start untill Sunday/Monday. I want to use the Daily expansion but seeing as i'm away for the next 2 days, i might aswell allow for the initial bugs to be ironed out first.

This should be great, Taaramae is one of my favorite riders, as we have similar riding styles |

I'd say he's very underrated, from what I've seen this year.

However, one cannot argue the fact that time trialling is both Taaramae's specialty and major strength.

Nooo 75 is just to much..somewhere around 70 is reality.
He is somewhere 10-15 places..when he has a good day and good ride. But isso is right as always..at first he was TT rider..then they noticed ..shit ..he can also a climb a little..
(Suisse final stage will help us)

I agree with Waghlon
I didnt really take a good look at pcm09's stats but from cofidis iI assume they're somehow generally low
giving the fact that cofidis squad is almost 100% constituted by breakaway specialists and the best flat stat is 73 there probably are many "underrated" stats..
btw 5 Jours de Dunquerke

El Fares is extremely underrated. Just look at what he did at the Tirreno-Adriatico. |

I've decided i'm gonna use the PCMbenelux DB. As far as i can tell, there have been no major issues with it. Stats have been reworked a little and seem like they're right on the money.
AND i get the correct racenames and all of that. That means i'll edit the post above with riders and goals when i get home from work. Story should be rolling within a few hours :-)
Edit: Goals and riderstats are updated. Refresh the page if you're not seeing the new pictures.
