Ok, so my story last year barely even started before I ended it. Well, this year I’m going to have another go. I've decided that this isn't my main career, so updates will be slightly less frequent to other stories, but I think this way I can keep up my motivation. That and I’ve been eager to start a story since about April, now the games out, I can start it up!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
December 30th 2008
It’s an extremely cold, dark day in the UK today. I've been working with a major pro tour team and we've unfortunately had to close down. Not good news. So I was sitting around enjoying the end of Christmas. When I received a phone call "doddy" said the guy on the phone "yeahhhhh...." I replied. "As you know, we don't have a manager for the new season or a Directeur Sportive and well, we need a manager/Directeur Sportive role to be played, you're the best that not doing anything next season, so what do you say" There was a moment’s pause "when do I start?"
January 1st 2009
That morning I landed in Paris, I was met at the airport by a guy called "Pierre", he told me to get in the car. The radio was on but I wasn't paying attention. I was out last night enjoying the New Year.
And so now (like most of the world's population) was not a good time to start working. Pierre didn't speak much, but the journey was very familiar. We arrived. An old office blocks which felt quite new in other ways. I was welcomed by the whole team, riders, scouts, doctors, trainers.
So... In to what you're here to read.
Over the coming weeks we'll begin racing, signing new sponsors.
Obviously I’ll be sat in the car giving orders but luckily we've got our own team photographer. His name is Maurice Paquet (Yes I did use a French name generator, it can be found here https://nine.frenc...ndboy.php)
He'll be taking pictures of all the race action, but most specifically our team. Unfortunately he doesn't like to show his face, so we have to accept that.
Now we're going out for a team training ride now, I’ll write again soon!
--------
The next post I make will be our January 2009 schedule, and if you want to, ask for specific rider stats.
Here we go...

January 2nd 2009
Success we've completed our January race calendar!
Here it is
We hope to be using these races to begin getting to our top level racing, which we hope will stay with us right the way up until October.
Today I met the French national media and the world media; they wanted to talk about my new role. Here are some of my favourite sections from the various interviews:
PRESS: What are your goals for the 2009 season?
Me: Already we have decided on the following races, these are important to our French sponsors, but also let's not forget that we haven't quite signed all our secondary sponsors yet, they will want a part in dictating what our goals will be.
PRESS: As a team manager, you must be looking for young riders; will you be doing this in France?
Me: Why, yes. In fact we've already dispatched a scout looking for riders in France. We hope to find the next generation of French superstars. Of course being a team manager I haven't forgot about other European countries where big talents could come from.
PRESS: 3 grand tours this season, obviously the Tour de France is the big goal, what about the Giro and Vuelta.
Me: Yes, the tour de France as for any team is our major goal, but we're planning big things for the Giro D'Italia. The Vuelta Espana will be our last major race of the season (aside from Paris-Tours and the Tour of Lombardy), we'll for sure want to get stage wins and attempt a jersey.
-----
Next up: Preview for the Australian National Championships, race report will follow soon after!

Hello from Sunny Australia!
The Australian Team Time trial championships have just finished. (I simulated it, only one Australian rider, with a weak TT stat, pointless playing, this will rarely happen ).
The results are
1 Cadel Evans Silence - Lotto 47'17
2 Michael Rogers Team Columbia - High Road + 16
3 Luke Roberts Team Kuota - Indeland + 36
4 Cameron Meyer Garmin - Slipstream + 1'08
5 Brett Lancaster Cervélo Test Team + 1'22
6 Christopher Sutton Garmin - Slipstream + 1'28
7 Baden Cooke Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team + 1'56
8 Christopher D'Amelio Cinelli - Down Under + 2'05
9 Mark Renshaw Team Columbia - High Road + 2'39
10 Trent Lowe Garmin - Slipstream + 2'56
Now, next up is the Australian National Road Race, a race i'm in the car for, and i'm very much looking forward to. I'm in Australia to get used to the heat before the Tour down Under.
I have one rider in the race, and thats Sulzberger.
-----
I'm about to race this now! Race report will hopefully come soon .

January 11th 2009
Welcome back to Sunny Oz or the "land down under" (we all know the song!).
But i'm here today to write about something serious, today was the Australian National Championships, a highly enjoyable race for us. Let's take a look as the action as it happened...
It's the first road race of the year, here we go!
The first break of the season, and it's Sutherland - Ouch and Nankervis - Cinelli
But, whats the Micheal Rogers makes the Junction
Cadel Evans doesn't like the look of this, and chases, by himself.
4 laps to go, Cadel decides, he might as well attack out of the group
2 and a half laps to go, i tell Sulzberger to attack and try to join a group, he ends up in the same group as Rogers.
Cadel all by himself, 1km to go, he's already won!
So, cadel has time to celebrate, but where will sulzberger come?
Answer: 5th, grabbed Rogers wheel in the sprint and went past him.
And the results (forgot to export )
I'm actually very impressed with Sulzberger today, now we're going to spend a day in the Australian sun in Adelaide before training towards the Tour down Under.
----
Next up, a tour down under preview post. Expect that very soon, before i go to bed

---
I love Australia! Luckily from 20th-25th January I can enjoy the sun, whilst doing what i enjoy most, directing a bike race with the guys. The team list by the way will be revealed very soon. But for now, here's the profiles
Aims for the TDU? Hopefully a stage win would be rather nice, but i'm hoping for attacking riding.
Also, sponsors are starting to contact me, this is great news for the team. Soon we may have some co-sponsors and i can reveal our sponsor objectives for the 2009 Season.
