Janez Brajkovic. The reason: He uses Twitter. =D He's my favorite rider on this list. That's why I voted for him.

It is Kreuziger, you will see in 2 or 3 year, he will be a favorite of Tour de France

There is nothing wrong.

He has a very good 2008 until he got into a fight with the Rabo team DS (Dekker and Knebel mainly). 3rd in Castilla behind Contador and Soler, 3rd in Pays Basque behind Contador and Evans, 5th in AGR, 5th in Fleche, 6th in Liege. Did you forget?
However, since then things gone wrong.

As for 2009, he just had a LOT of bad luck, just like Kirchem, just like Cancellara. Fallen early, and never recovering.
He fell very hard in Bessèges. And he was lucky not to brake anything, but had to give up. Since then it's been a race against injuries. He could never train full. He rode the races, but with a lot of pain, but he kept saying against himself that it was in his head. Because of did, he did his body more bad then good, and then, in the Tirreno Adriatico. He fell again. Again he didn't recuperate good and simply went on riding.
In the Settimana Internazionale (end March) it was the deepest point. He couldn't get his heart rate up anymore (as a result of too forcefull training) and gave up.
In Basque Tour the team ordered him to ride quietly.
In the Amstel Gold Race he rode for gilbert till the foot of the cauberg, to everyone's suprise, because nobody thought he would be good enough after all injuries.
In Liege he even finished 17th somehow.

To sum it up if you are too bored reading:
After Tour 2007 -> Very good 2008 till end april (3rd Castilla, 3rd Basque Tour, 5th AGR, 5th FW, 6th LBL)

2009: Fall in Besseges -> Injuries -> Fall in Tirreno -> more injuries -> Finally fit in AGR -> Not topform because of the bad preparation full of injuries.

It's not that hard. People make it hard, by not following the stories and thus not knowing of his injuries and falls this season...

yes it is hard..look at this poll result..1 vote (and that must be you..Wink). I belive he deserve more votes.
And if I ask guys do you know rider named Rene Mandri..most of new members does not have idea. That..this is poor Ag2r quite talented guy who is out at the second season straight with crashes injures.

ruben
I haven't voted Guido.
And what do votes really tell? People go for the riders of the moment. What happened 1 year ago doesn't matter. They have forgotten already, like you just demonstrated Wink

Polls tell me little. Apart from who they think is the best RIGHT NOW, at this instant. That can change in 1 race already Wink you know that.

Gesink hasnt even done that Wink

Well that's normal really. For example, take the Netherlands:

After years of absense in mountain stages, a certain Remmert Wielinga finished with the best riders in mountain stages in the Dauphiné Libéré in 2003. Result? He was called the next big thing in Holland, compared to guys like Steven Rooks and Erik Breukink. Result? Nothing, he never amounted to anything after that.

Then Pieter Weening, in his first pro year, he attacked in nearly every uphill stage he could find. In his second year, he won a stage in the Tour and finished 2nd in the Tour of Poland. Result? The people expected him to be the next Dutch Tour winner, ofcourse he never amounted to anything as the expectations were against way too high.

Then came Thomas Dekker, now here is a guy who'd actually dominate in the youth categories and who kept making progression. A criterium international stage in his first year against Basso, Julich and Jaksche. Also a Pro Tour win with the ITT in the Tour of Pologne (against Kirchen, Brajkovic). Then the Tirreno win in 2006, the Romandie win in 2007, the good classics in 2008.
Result? Forgotten after the fight with Rabo, now the public had already found a new start:

Robert Gesink, although still not haven won anything big, he was attacking in mountain stages, and unlike Dekker, he doesn't shout out his ambitions. That is something which Dutch people like, stay down to earth and stay calm. They don't like 'Italian' Dekker. And ofcourse, now Gesink was heralded as new Tour winner after finishing 2nd on the Ventoux (Pn 2008) and 4th in Dauphine and 7th in Vuelta.

In the meantime, there was another one, Bauke Mollema, who won the Tour of l'Avenir, and at that time, immediately people claimed he would be better than Gesink.

See the insanity? As soon as young rider puts in a good result, he is immediately deemed 'better' as other young riders. Or as the best.
So now the Kreuziger mania can begin, until Taaramae wins the Tour of Catalunya, and everyone is going to think Taaramae is the new Contador.
