As mentioned in the your cycling thread, this thread is so that people can post race reports, results, pictures and any other relivant info about their racing. It just stops the your cycling thread getting all clogged up and leaves it free for people to really talk about their cycling.
so feel free to post anything you want as long as it's related to your racing.
good luck guys, hopefully we'll all get some good results this year. |

maybe a good way to kick off the thread will be for people to give us their racing goals for the year.
here's mine:
1. To get my 3rd cat racing license. I will settle for a few placings and BC points but really i should be looking at moving up a level this year.
2. To go under 23 mins over 10 miles. I had this goal last year but i didn't race on a single good day all year. Hopefully i'll get a couple of float days this season.
3. To go under 1 hour over 25 miles. Again i feel i could have achieved this last year if i had a decent day. But i only did 2 25's all year and it was always wet and windy when i raced though.
4. Go under 2 hours in the Little Mountain TT ( this is my clubs main open event of the season and is held in very high regard in the midlands. Maybe a few of the local members have heard of it). Technically i did this last year, at least i would have done if i hadn't cramped up with about 4 miles to go. I was on to do about 1.55 so really i should be aiming to better that this season. However my goal is still to go under 2 hours.
5. To enjoy my racing all through the year. Last season i think i over did it early on and by July i was burnt out and my results got worse. But i've got a coach this season so hopefully that will help me pace my year better.

1. Finish every race, I'm not the strongest rider, so this is my only reasonable goal.
Also, its not really a "goal" per se, but I want to see if I can ride 10 races to get my Cat.4 License |

Upgrading to 4's is easy peasy. However I suggest avoiding Cat 5 races. You should be able to upgrade on Juniors races alone which are far safer and much faster.
My Goals
Get my 3's: Only need one more top 10
Go to nationals: Need to be cat 3 for that
Help my teamate win Nationals: Bad luck last year cost him.
Win some races: simple

I suppose I'd best put up my goals too...
1 - Get a ride in the Ras de Cymru and target the KoM
2 - Gain 3 podium places in the year
3 - Gain my 2nd cat license and start working towards the 1st.
4 - Enjoy the bike.
5 - Train like I mean it.

Mine for this season:
1. Win a race (already done this in 2 out of the 3 races i've done so far!)
2. Get my 2nd cat license.
3. Help as many of my team mates get up to a 3rd cat license as poss.
4. Beat my p.b in a 10 mile tt (currently 22.55)
5. Win my club hill climb again.

There is an adventure series in my area known as the Grasshopper. Its been going on for 11 years, there are no prizes, no sag wagons, no numbers, no neutral support etc etc etc and the races are usually 4-6 hours long. It truly is an adventure series, the first one of the new year was a mostly mountainbiking, though riders did do it on road bikes, and Geoff Kabush won. I'm doing the next one on saturday, which as I understand it, is mostly paved road... hopefully. Lasy years winner for this race was Levi Leipheimer, followed by a local cat 1, then Scotty Nydam, then 3 riders later my teamate Ryan.

good luck levi. my season starts tomorrow in shrewsbury. i'll let you all know how i get on, probably not very well
also thought it might be fun to keep a bit of a win tally for everyone on the MB with the person with the most wins being crowned the PCMdaily road champ and wearing the coverted PCMdaily jersey next season
I'll award points for podium places only with 10 points for a win, 5 for second and 1 for 3rd. In order to claim your points you must provide proof of your achievement either with a race report of a results sheet. I won't accept you claim with no proof.
First Draft Rules (Can be changes if people don't agree)
1) Any form of competitive cycling counts. RR, TT, Cyclo-Cross, Track, BMX, MTB
2) All claims must be backed up by proof in the form of a race report or results sheet. This must be via a link to the official results and not just you writing up a list of results.
3) Only open events count. Winning a club TT is a good achievement but won't get you any points here i'm afraid.
4) In track racing the win must be overall. You don't get 10 points for winning the first heat of a sprint only.
5) All results are equal. Whether you win a national elite race or a cat 4 crit you will still get 10 points max.
Thats all i can think of at the moment. If anyone else has any other ideas or ammendments then let me know. Also, if anyone has any results already that they want to claim points for then give us the official results and i'll start up your tally.
So who is up for a bit of friendly competition? If anything it might give us some motivation to race.

My first race of the season was today. Just a little training crit to warm up for the upcoming season. Not too many pros today although my friend Bobby Lea of OUCH was there, lapped the pack twice
I race juniors though and came in 6th I think, the race results aren't up yet but I'll be sure to post. |

congrats. my first race of the season was a bit dissapointing. i was involved in a bit of a pile up and had to take a lap out. when i returned my wrist was a bit sore from the crash so i just rolled home in the bunch and didn't contest the sprint. there are a few pictures of the race on the BC website. Andy Tennent of Team Halfords won the elite/1/2/ race.

I had the fun of starting my season 3 weeks before I'd planned. Also, it wasn't until I was en-route that I learnt that I'd be racing with the elites due to great planning by the driver. Drove there in lovely sunshine, watched the 3rds (which I should have been part of) race, started warming up, and lo and behold the heavens opened. Managed 200 metres easily, then some ex-pro (Alex Higham) attacked and all hell broke loose/the field strung out in one long line. Got down to the bottom end of Thruxton and the side wind caused hell. First lap was ok because I managed to position myself well to the left of other riders. Bridged a few gaps to get back to the main group (already down 10 riders). Once again into the tail wind section past the finish and strung out again. Entering the cross wind section and I was following wheels this time, and ended up not being able to lean/turn in the wind. So ended up doing a bit of cross country. End race.
4 laps in total out of 14. Good start to the season. lol, only 16 guys finished the race out of 50 starts, and Richard Tanguy (who I just signed in the man game) won. He took second on saturday as well. On fire.
Next week is another elite race at a slightly flatter Ilton course.

yeah, i had a quick look through the gallery earlier and saw a few blokes in your kit. any of them you?
just found a rather nice pic of me on another site, looks like the photographer has put some kind of effect onto the pic to make me stand out and everything look all out of focus.
