Would have been a perfect race from Remco if that final time trial would have been an individual one. Hoping for some selection in the hilly stages.

I brought Lopez here but probably should have done Liechtenstein+MSR instead with the startlists there and what ive seen from pcm so far.
I was always very scared about this race not providing significant gaps on the hills and im probably even more so now than before the season. Hopefully no team has 5+ riders in the final top ten
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Thanks for the preview, Laurens!
We don't bring a puncheur here but opted for a TTT lineup with some decent hill riders (Küng, Louvel, Garibian, Akhmaevi, Vauquelin) instead. So for once let's hope the hilly stages end with gaps small enough to make the TTT count for them ...

I come here year after year and maybe this year Gidich can finally win it. Obviously not too happy with the route changes but we should still be quite competitive. Thank you for the preview! |

Gambled on having Groenewegen maybe even in contention on stage 1, hopefully at the same time as the stage winner at least, and then going all in with our line up for stage 2. Big risk, but can remember this felt natural when doing the planning. Now I can't quite figure out how I haven't sent Romo here as well, but that's how it goes
The TTT will probably have a big say for the GC, but would be cool to see stage 3 force gaps with the length of that stage, combined with all the hills. |

Could be a good race for Stannard, but it's hard to see us shining here. Interested to see how stage 3 pans out.
thanks for the preview Laurens!

I put this parcours together and have no idea how it will work out. Moved the TTT behind the hilly stage as it might mix up the top of the GC some more. Could just be weird.
Narvaez has always done well here but the field is gradually getting stronger and I think our luck runs out this year.

Could be a great great Pidcock race. Could be not a lot of anything. Excited!

Don't expect anything from the team here, so any kind of result would be a nice surprise.
Kind of regret not bringing Choi or Rodriguez instead of Debesay but guess they were both out of race days.
Not sure if it would make a big difference either - depends on how selective stage 3 will be.
Thanks for the preview

Absolutely would have liked some gaps in the pack but this is an outstanding start to the race for us with Calmejane and Lopez on the podium
Now lets pray that stage 3 will be selective ...

A very race occurrence in the last couple of years: Gerts active in the hills. Hopefully he can carry on this form into the last cobbled races of the season. That's where the big points will be lying for him.
Goldstein with a surprising breakaway appearance to claim a distinctive jersey and 2nd place in two other classifications at the end of the day. Would be nice if he could defend that KoM jersey.
Evonik seems to mean business in this race as well. Which is quite scary for the PT team rankings

Congrats knockout to yet another win! Calmejane puts together a performance like this every now and then and it's always cool to see. For us it's been another anonymous stage, but as we're here for anonymous depth points it's fine. A breakaway appearance in stage 3 would be nice nonetheless ...
And finally thanks for the report, Abhi!

Nice to see 3 McCormick guys paying attention, gaps behind would have been good. Will need this kind of performance in Stage 3.

Really frustrating that Pidcock isn't caring about this one. Not surprising given the AI this year but still annoys me every time. Gotta get used to it.

Congrats KO, but leave something for the rest of us will you?
Solid start from Stannard, even if there were no gaps awarded.

Strong performance by Rodriguez! And surprising too, I must say. Now for our real target here, fingers crossed we get the leadout and launch right for Groenewegen. If we manage, I fancy his chances to get the stage win.
Congratulations on the stage win, knockout! And that’s also a very nice gap for Calmejane with all bonifications included. Certainly makes him a very interesting rider for the GC! |

Thanks guys!
By the way, this feels like a race where i would like top ten getting time bonifications on each stage in the future.
