Report by AbhishekLFC
Welcome to Belgia and the Le Samyn, 200,2 km from Mons to Dour with 21 cobble sections. A race for the strong cobble riders!
First edition of this race was raced in 2018 and it had a break in 2021. A race that has been won by many legends of the game, but none has one it more than once! Bewley, Stallaert, Summerhill, Daniel, Theuns and Baugnies with one each
Previous winners:
Spoiler
| Year | Winner | | 2024 | Maxime Daniel (Ekoi - Le Creuset) | | 2023 | Edward Theuns (Jura GIANTS) | | 2022 | Sam Bewley (Amaysim Cervelo) | | 2020 | Danny Summerhill (Andorra Cycling Project) | | 2019 | Joeri Stallaert (Volvo acc. by Spotify) | | 2018 | Jérome Baugnies (Kulczyk - DMTEX) |
2024 results:
Spoiler
| 1 | Maxime Daniel | Ekoi - Le Creuset | 4h34'49 | | 2 | Michail Kortsidakis | ELCO - ABEA | + 7 | | 3 | Saya Kuroeda | Sony - Force India | s.t. | | 4 | Patrick Gamper | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo PCTeam | s.t. | | 5 | Mekseb Debesay | JEWA TIROL | s.t. | | 6 | Joeri Stallaert | Bralirwa - Cegeka | + 12 | | 7 | Nipuna Shira Manamalage | Team Popo4Ever p/b Morshynska | s.t. | | 8 | Georgios Stavrakakis | ELCO - ABEA | s.t. | | 9 | Yves Lampaert | Llapi-Vita | s.t. | | 10 | Danny Summerhill | ELCO - ABEA | + 19 |
HC races often see a strong field, but to be honest I expected a bit stronger
The strongest pure cobble rider is coming from the team that won last year, can Zepuntke defend their title? The rider they won it with last year is back, but this season Daniel is riding with Lotto-Caloi. Another former winner present is Stallaert who might hope for a sprint at the end with his good sprinting ability
Kasperkiewicz and Girmay might in my opinion be the 2 strongest competitors here. Girmay going for a late sprint while Kasperkiewicz should hope to leave the others behind before the end. My experience with this game version would make me bet on a group sprinting at the end and thus my 2 cents being on Girmay
There are several other strong riders here, like Gaday, Polanc, last years 3rd place Kuroeda and last years 5th place Debesay.
Riders like Moulingui, Orue, Sulimov, Louvel, Nareklishvili and Schreurs could also pull off something here. Considering how the year has gone to now aswell it would be stupid of me not to mention Basso as a rider who can do something, as I feel Bianchi hits on everything this year

Not much hills, Wisniowski not here, it couldn't get much better for Zepuntke to really shine. Also it's time to win something again, Daniels win here last season was also the last one for our team ...

Exceptional from Basso again nearly in every move there and a solid 7pt gained and no blank race day job done. Congrats Tinia and TransLooneyTunes on a great attack and win |

Congrats to Tina on the win and thanks for the report!
As lucky as I have hit it elsewhere this year it feels like the game has forgotten that Kaspa is supposed to be proactive (even recently just running stuff on my own that also seems to be the case, just feel thouroughly odd, but will wait for the season to concldue before drawing any conclusions tho)

Thanks for the report to Abhi and congrats to another great win to Tinxia!
13th obviously is not what we came for here and while Ruben at least tried something it's more worrying no one else of our squad was in the first group in the end.
Spoiler I just have to repeat my cobbles mantra:
"Zepuntke is not the perennial disappointer. It will all even out over the course of the season."

If not for the surprise top 3, Gaday may have been fighting for the podium but 7th is a decent result for him! Congrats on the win!!

28th from Summerhill in what will be perhaps his farewell tour was the best he could. At least we got ranking points...ANY points as we knew that we're cooked in the cobbles.
