When I was working out how to do this a few weeks back, I came across a few questions on how to add equipment to the DB. I've been meaning to put something together to explain how to do it and I finally got around to doing it today.
First of all, what you need to do this tutorial.
The Full Editor v4.
If you don't have it already, it's available in the downloads section on this site.
We'll be adding 3 Pinarello frames.
Anyway, onwards...
Here's a Pinarello pack to download, along with logos and equipment photos. The Prince and Spain version are by Bikefreak from PCM Benelux and the FM1 TT frame I think I got from PCM Spain, and their Equipment pack. I have made some logos to go along with equipment I've added, but I think the logo is from PCM Spain too.
https://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y7INWTUC
Step 1.
Put the logo and cadre files in -
C:\Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2008\Gui\equipment_photo
Step 2
Put the 3 .nif files into -
C:\Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2008\CM_Meshes\Equipment\Frames
Step 3
Put the all the textures files (_d, _n, and _s) into -
C:\Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2008\CM_Textures\Equipment\Frames
Step 4
I'm assuming some basic knowledge of using the editor here. If you've never used it, feel free to ask how it works or search the site. There was a recent thread, I think.
Open up the Full Editor and add the TGA files.
All of the logo and cadre files from Step 1 should be added to the STA_TGA table.
For an excellent guide on how to do this, please see:
https://pcmdaily.com/articles.php?arti...icle_id=34
It is using a different editor, but the the tables, etc, are the same.
Make a note of the ID's of each item you've added.
Step 5
We will now add Pinarello as an equipment manufacturer.
Open up the STA_equipment_marques table.
Scroll down to the bottom and in the first column add the next number in sequence, here 35.
In the next column put 1. 1 is for frames, 2 is for Wheels and 3 is for Helmets.
Next, but the name of the manufacturer. Here, it is Pinarello.
The next column you should put the ID tag of the logo TGA. In this example it was 5039, in accordance with the previous step.
I have no idea what the final column is for, but as all the others are 16, then 16 seems the best idea.
Save the table.
Step 6
Open up STA_equipment.
Scroll down to the bottom and in the first column add the next number in sequence (or any other number that is higher).
Here I've gone for 360, 361 and 362. In the second column enter 1 as these are frames. In the third column enter the names you want to appear in the in game menus. In the 4th column link the frame to the .nif file, as in the screenshot.
The FM1 is a TT bike, so in the TT column (6th across) enter 1. All the others enter 0.
From column 9 to 14 are the stats for the equipment. I've heard that these do not matter in game - so we'll just input maximum numbers of 13 and 14. The column headings are pretty easy to work out, if you want to spend time getting realistic stats.
OK, probably the most important columns for getting the equipment to show up right in the game come next.
I usually put a 0 in the gene_f_unlock_cost column. This is how much it costs to buy in game.
Then the gene_b_is_locked box. Your time trail bike should have 0 in here. The two other frames should have 1's.
EDIT - The above 2 columns are only really important if you'd like to buy the bike. For the PCM.daily .db I put zero's in these boxes.
In the next column, the TT bike should have 0 again. In this example, the Prince has 360 and the Espana frame 361. Basically, this number should be 1 less than the number in the very first column.
EDIT - That is not strictly true. Usually it would work, but if you're adding equipment to a .db like the PCM.daily one, then make sure the unlock number is the next one in sequence in that particular equipment marque.
Like this.
Leave CONSTANT blank.
The next column links your frame to the number of its TGA. In this case, 5040, 5041 and 5042.
35 goes in the Equipment_Marques column, as that is the number we assigned Pinarello. Remember.
No idea what the final two columns do, but as everything is 1 that'll do for us too.
Save the table and move on to the final step.
Step 7
Now, all that's left is to link up the frame to the team. To do this open up DYN_team. In this case, we'll link Pinarello to Caisse. Caisse is in row 1, so we scroll across to the fkIDequipment_marques_cadre column. Pinarello, you'll remember is number 35 in the equipment_marques table, so if we put 35 in this table Caisse will ride Pinarello frames when under computer control.
As far as I know, you can't link frames to individual riders, so riders other than Valverde might ride the Spain frame when the computer is in control. When you're in control no problem.
Here ends the tutorial. If you want to add other frames, wheels, or helmets then follow the same steps as above. Hope this is useful for some.

How can I pay you back for this tutorial? It came in a specially great moment, just when Man-Game users will drive me crazy by requesting loads and loads of different equipment types to be linked in their teams.
I owe you sth fenian. Thx a lot. |

You don't owe me anything, Dankan.
Well, maybe PCM$500 in the betting game....seem to have lost all mine. |

Easiest way is to copy the values for one of the exsisting disks in the game.
If you don't want to do that, make sure you have a 1 in the gene_b_is_time_trial and gene_b_is_lenticulaire columns.

Why? As far as I can see, they're on your Photobucket account. Can't you just login and upload them elsewhere (e.g. the admin panel's image upload function)? |

A ctd means there is a mistake in one of the stages.
If you upload the .cdb here I'll look at it for you. PM me if you prefer. |

Hi,
firstly, thanks for providing a great tutorial.
I've managed to get it right, and I can use the pinarello bikes in single races.
However, if I try to use a pinarello in career mode, the game crashes, i'm guessing because of a missing directory or something like that. Any help on solving that will be appreciated. Thanks.
EDIT: Nevermind, I managed to solve the problem; it's because I didn't have any of the bikes purchased. With the preset manufacturers, you own one of them by default, so it has something to show when you click on the manufacturer to select the frame.
Also, if anyone could provide links to downloads containing other bikes, I would be very greatful. Thanks again.

Hi. While trying to add equipment to my saved game, I've followed the steps below. Opening and editing STA_TGA, STA_equipment_marques, STA_equipment and DYN_team to add the pinarello frames as per the add equipment tutorial. Every time I try and export the edited d/b back to cdb, the editor crashes.
I also tried editing the data using Hannes Converter. I made sure to click the "Save" button at the bottom of the table that I opened and closed the table after saving, then clicked the save icon (the disc one). A popup appeared, I clicked the tables that I'd changed and clicked save. But every time I opened a new table, the edited data is lost.
Can anyone help, regards Jaywol. |
