SEE Turtles Proud to Announce Entry into CT of the MGUCI
SEE Turtles aims to connect “people with sea turtles in meaningful, personal, and memorable ways.” And what is more memorable then starting a professional cycling team from scratch!
All credits to liefwarrior and many thanks for helping create this vision!
Proudly displaying the shells of these beautiful creatures on our jerseys, SEE Turtles hopes that our entry into the MGUCI will provide an opportunity to educate riders, staff, and fans on the important conservation efforts to protect sea turtles across the globe. Find out more about our mission: https://www.seeturtles.org/about-see-...ee-turtles
As a team, SEE Turtles bases itself out of the Galapagos Islands. Here, we will establish ourselves as a champion for Ecuadorian cycling. Our mission extends beyond the Galapagos with aims of fostering cycling across the Americas and the Caribbean, as our administrative headquarters sit in Portland, Oregon. Even more, we recognize the global impact of sea turtle conservation and cannot ignore any area of the world blessed by these lovely creatures.
As a sign of our commitment to the sport, SEE Turtles has decided to be the primary and SOLE sponsor for the 2023 season; however, future sponsor partnerships have already begun discussions with a number of companies and organizations who support our mission.
We look forward to competing alongside the rest of the Continental Division and joining such a wonderful cycling community.

Very noble mission and a cool focus. Hope you can nab Carapaz - him being a home rider could make you the first team he doesn't massively let down Excited to see what you do!

Woo! was waiting for this HQ... The CT, saving the planet!
Both with Turtle sponsors, and both with strong ties to major PNW city rivals (Portland vs Seattle) - we obviously can't be friends. But hopefully Frenemies is possible.
And i can't look at that jersey and not immediately think;

Thank you for the support everyone! Hoping that this concept plays out the way I expect it to. If all goes well, we'll be eating celebratory Ninja Pizza at least a few times this season.
Roster update coming soon, but excited to display the first generations of SEE Turtles! |

The 2023 SEE Turtles have arrived! Well that is until the CT Free Draft adds two extra members to our squad!
Joining From Around the Peloton
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | OVR | Age | | Kashyapa Siriwardena | 67 | 74 | 73 | 72 | 71 | 73 | 72 | 56 | 58 | 68 | 74 | 65 | 72 | 73.54 | 31 | | Ahmad Arissol | 74 | 66 | 71 | 72 | 70 | 73 | 71 | 72 | 62 | 68 | 76 | 70 | 71 | 72.81 | 32 | | Joshua Kelly | 73 | 66 | 72 | 74 | 69 | 73 | 60 | 60 | 71 | 72 | 72 | 62 | 76 | 72.8 | 27 | | Carlos Betancourt | 66 | 70 | 77 | 57 | 67 | 66 | 59 | 50 | 64 | 69 | 72 | 64 | 56 | 72.67 | 34 |
All four riders entering on deals should contribute strongly in this first season. Together they should establish a solid core to our team as it becomes established. Their combined experience and versatility should allow success in almost every discipline. These four also bring in 5 NC jerseys with Siriwardena winning both ITT/RR for Sri Lanka, Arissol the same for the Seychelles, and Kelly representing Barbados in road races.
Kelly looks most likely to continue with the team for many years ahead and should become training eligible after next season. An outside shot for success in prologues moving forward, Kelly will focus on guiding the SEE Turtles in formation for Team Time Trials throughout the year.
Betancourt brings the South American spirit for our trade-ins and the best shot at an individual win in a road race. His strength on the hills should put him the right position to close out races.
Arissol and Siriwardena hope to contribute across all terrains as they may be the most well-rounded cyclists in the entire team. Together, they also hope to expand our reach to advocate for the six sea turtle species found in the Indian Ocean!
Our free agent signings also provide us with a number of opportunities for success, mentorship, growth, and sustainability. A crop of Ecuadorian youngsters hope to develop through the CT circuit and blast onto the scene in future years. Established contributors like Alarcon and Squire should fight as the altimeter reaches into the sky - while also supporting our younger riders. A group of strong sprinters Oka, Tivani, and Molano will also help to develop a consistent block to ensure that every stage has at least an outside chance. Oka will also target the prologues, alongside Hamza who can also compete in the longer solo efforts. Still more, Duchesne and Trllini will punch for victory on our shallower slopes.
The SEE Turtles are excited to represent 4 continents, 4 oceans, and to establish ourselves in the CT!

It is a really international cast on the team. I really like Oka, there are a few races where the combination of TT and SP can play really well. Great to see Vermaerke get a new ride.
Congrats on surviving your first offseason.

Nice to see Walter Trillini finding a place here after he rode for us last season. Also I have a fondness for Harold Martin Lopez since he started his career with my team, but I am more than certain he is right at home here.
Good luck in the season ahead!

This is a good squad for your first year and should be able to get you some nice results in nearly any terrain (I don't mind the cobbles too ) which is clearly a good thing for long-term motivation
