Calzaghe - Kessler

Well theres plenty of Brits and Danes here so... (Boxing by the way).

Joe Calzaghe's unification bout with Mikkel Kessler will take place at the Millennium Stadium on 3 November.

The 28-year-old Dane holds the WBA and WBC versions of the super middleweight title while Welshman Calzaghe, 35, is the WBO title holder.

Both fighters go into the Cardiff bout with unbeaten records.

It was due to be held in Copenhagen in September, but the Millenium Stadium has the capacity to hold a bigger crowd, so it was moved to Cardiff instead.

Calzaghe reckons he could knock out Kessler, wherever the fight takes place, only time will tell.

Well whatever happens, the fight should be more exciting than an Enzo Maccarinelli bout! Maccarinelli, who is coached in the same camp as Calzaghe, won his last 2 bouts in a matter of 1 or 2 minutes.

Definitely. It's going to be huge, and it'll be good to finally end all this talk about who's the best. I wish it would be held at a neutral stadium. I mean, if Kessler loses he might say that the crowd influenced him negatively - and the other way around if it was held in Copenhagen.

But we'll see.

Blaming it on the crowd is just a lame excuse, so if Kessler does that he'd be a bad loser.

one of my best friends is a welsh american, and loves Calzaghe, and he can't wait for the fight. That being said, I think kessler will win the fight. Either way i hope it will be a good one.

no i don't know any roller hockey players, in fact i'm so oblivious to the sport, i never knew it was oneShockops:Shockops:Shockops:

i knew it was played, but i didn't know there were leagues and thingsRolling Eyes

i just asked about Khan as he is huge in England. He's from Bolton and turned professional after getting silver medal at the olympic games.

I think he has knocked out every one of his opposing fighters apart from once where the opposition boxer's manager threw the towel in after 25 seconds:lol:

He is the typical young fighter, goes in the ring all guns blazing going for the KO in the first round, luckily he is good enough to be able to do it, but sooner or later it will be his downfall i think.

anyway in short he has a very bright future ahead of him and he's only 20 years oldWink

EDIT: just found his record

Total fights 14
Wins 14
Wins by KO 11

and the guy he lost to in the Olympic final to claim silver was Mario Kindelan, who is 15 years older than him, so was a very experienced fighter must've been 2004 the Olympics so Khan would've been 18 and Kindelan around 33

my point exactly. boxing is small here Smile

and just as a curiosity

Roller Hockey (Quad) is highly popular and has many names worldwide that mean the same sport. Some common names for names Roller Hockey (quad) are: Hóquei em Patins, International Style Ball hockey, Rink Hockey or Hardball Hockey. Roller Hockey was a demonstration rollersport in the 1992 Barcelona summer Olympics. There have been many world championships, Latin countries dominating the sport since the 1940s: Portugal (15 World titles), Spain (13 World titles), Italy (4 World titles) and Argentina (4 World titles). Other countries, such as France, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, Andorra and England are regular international competitors, but rarely overcome the traditional powers. Roller Hockey (Quad) is referred to as Hardball Hockey in the United States.

Roller Hockey is a very fast sport, which may create a problem for TV transmissions, and new rinks are built using blue or white pavement to make the ball more visible on TV. It was a demonstration sport in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. The most important clubs in Europe (and, arguably, the world) are FC Porto from Portugal, FC Barcelona, Reus Deportiu, Igualada and Liceo de Coruña from Spain, and occasionally Primavera Prato, Follonica and Bassano Hockey 54 from Italy. In terms of trophies won FC Barcelona is the most successful team having won seventeen European Cups.

and you call yourself a Barcelona fan Pfft tsc tsc tsc...

And also 'lucky' that he has yet to face a decent opponent.

Kessler and Calzaghe are both World title holders in the Super middleweight category, and this is a bit of a unification fight.

@isso, interesting to know that, i gues England are even worse at that sport than they are at others so they don't bother showing it:lol:

and i knew Barça have a Handball, Futsal and Basketball team, but not so much on the hockey, it seems the are very good thoughWink

@the actual boxing match; I really hope it will be a great fight, sometimes with all the trash-talking and build-up they tend to dissapoint, but i have a good feeling about this one, it should be great and with one of the being British I will obviously be cheering him on all they wayGrin
