Pretty basic tool for creating startlists for the new PCM game. You can either build one from scratch manually or you can let them be automatically generated from Cyclingstartlists.com. It's not very thoroughly tested nor coded but it does the trick. I promised this tool to Aab-ern already some time ago but never got to it (sry for the wait dude).
Things you need:
- .NET Framework 3.5 - download here -
- SQL Compact Edition 3.5 DLL - download here -
- Eyolfur's Advanced editor for PCM4
Getting started
First thing you need to do after you installed the tool is import the DB for wich you want to create startlists for. You only need to do this once, the values are stored for the next time you start the tool. I always use a savegame for importing, so just start a new career if you need to. Click the 'Import new DB' and the steps shown there should be pretty self explanatory. (You'll need to tell the tool the folder in wich the exported XML files reside)
Creating startlists
As stated before, you have two options; start from a blank list and manually add/remove riders by doubleclicking either the selection panel on the right(adding) or double clicking rider names in the startlist itself(removing). You can also let the tool automatically generate a list from cyclingstartlists.com. To do this click 'New startlists from web' and browse to the appropriate race you want a list for. Click Import this startlist and the tool will try to analyze and match the cyclists on the webpage with the ones in your DB. This takes some time (on an average PC about 2-3 minutes). After the analyzing is finished you'll see a grid with all the teams in the list first and then the riders. For each team/cyclist there will be an icon on the left that will tell you if and how accuratly a match have been found. 4 or 3 green bars are direct matches or synonym matches (synonyms can be added by checking the synonym box when a match has not been found and selecting the right team/cyclist from the drop down list, obvious examples are: Team Colombia = Team Highroad, Scott - Beef = Saunier Duval, Denis Menchov = Denis Metsjov etc.) Any matches with less bars are approximate matches.
Due to the fact that the site uses another html markup for about every race it sometimes will fail to analyze the page properly. For ex. for the latest races on there change the 'style tag of teamname styles' in the configuration menu to style13 instead of style18. There are a couple more variables you can change should the analysis fail.
Exporting the actual startlist xml files
Simply click the 'export startlist' button and the xml file is automatically created. No need to rename it either since the file will get the appropriate name from the XML Name column for the race you selected.

Jape, I can't use the Startlists Tool with my 1990 DB. Should I send it to you so to ensure there's full compatibility with different kinds of DB's? |

Problems with the importing of the db you mean ? I can tell you that, even if you find startlists for 1990 on the internet, the automatic generation will not work. But if they actually are to be found somewhere i can maybe adapt it if you want, can't promise anything though. In any case send it to me, ill take a look at it |

Nope, you definately don't understand me, or did I not explain myself right. When I try to create a blank startlist after loading my 1990 XML folder, no races are shown. |

ah i see, send me the db if you can, i'll check it out. You can also check out yourself if the DB is imported at all. In your my documents folder there is a folder named: PCM4 Startlists DB (you can also use the 'open startlists folder' button in the tool itself.). When it's empty it should be around 200k when filled properly it should be around 500k or more. |

It's weighting around 450 KB, so I guess everything should be right I'll try to send it to you by PM in the coming days. |

You need to export the DB with the Full Editor. When the tool asks you where you DB is, locate the folder with the exported files in it (the .xml files). |

Obviously, you didn't, otherwise the races would show up
Did you export the DB with Full Editor? |

I sense sarcasm in your post - may I remind you that I (probably) gave you the solution to your problem? |

Doesn´t work for me, too. Cant choose race.
XML files are there. have choosen right folder. named current db as name of db (tried others too) in second step of db-importing.
Need startlist for Giro. |

Indurain: I'm sorry for my comments - you're right, for some reason, it doesn't work with the V3.2. |

Would have been the next step to try it with another db.

Well, it works with the V2.1, so I've no idea why it doesn't work with V3. |
