Thank you Luis Leon Sanchez for the preview!!!
The Badaling International is a race made for Puncheurs. It has historically been in the PT and has come down to a reduced sprint other than in 2018 when Godoy won from the breakaway.
History | | | | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 2020 | Ponzi | Boasson Hagen | Koretzky | 2019 | Boasson Hagen | Sagan | Ponzi | 2018 | Godoy | Ponzi | Bakelants | 2017 | Sagan | Bakelants | Trofimov | 2016 | Ginanni | Bakelants | Van Garderen |
If it comes down to a sprint between a group of the favourites, it's hard to look away from Tsatevich (Crabbe), Paez (Aramco), Felline (Strava) and Calmejane (Trans Looney) who have got the skillset required to win from such a position.
| | | HIL | STA | RES | SPR | ACC | FTR | | Alexey | Tsatevich | 77 | 74 | 73 | 75 | 75 | 66 | | Andres | Paez | 77 | 74 | 70 | 73 | 76 | 76 | | Fabio | Felline | 77 | 75 | 73 | 74 | 78 | 68 | | Lilian | Calmejane | 77 | 73 | 76 | 72 | 76 | 78 |
The likes of Eiking (Gjensidige), Boswell (McCormick), Bystrom (Trans Looney), Chaves (Volcanica), Juul-Jensen (Pas Normal), Palini (Strava) and Vliegen (Bralirwa) should be looking for attacks later in the stage to win it on their own.
| | | HIL | STA | RES | SPR | ACC | FTR | | Odd Christian | Eiking | 80 | 78 | 74 | 68 | 76 | 75 | | Sven Erik | Bystrom | 79 | 75 | 72 | 68 | 76 | 78 | | Christopher | Juul-Jensen | 78 | 76 | 74 | 66 | 79 | 80 | | Ian | Boswell | 80 | 77 | 73 | 65 | 76 | 72 | | Johan Esteban | Chaves | 79 | 74 | 73 | 60 | 72 | 69 | | Andrea | Palini | 78 | 75 | 68 | 68 | 74 | 69 | | Loic | Vliegen | 77 | 76 | 70 | 66 | 74 | 71 |

Wouldn't mind another surprise podium for Vliegen We got some depth with Schoonbroodt and Khederi as well, if we get to ~20 points with Vliegen plus the rest, I'll leave a happy man. But hilly races are always a bit of a lottery, so we'll see. Eiking and Boswell are the favorites for me.

Hopeful Paez can get a strong result here but I don’t expect it to be easy!

Gotta aim for the break here. Ver-man and the Indonesians hopefully can animate the race and get us some tv time
Thanks for the preview

Here with a team that would very much like to see MO being the primary stat at play, which I doubt it will be but Batta, The Boss and Gaspar could all ensure this isnt a 0 pointer at the end of the race! Thanks for the preview!

Think it should suit Boswell but those last two are long climbs, maybe Chaves gets it right. 5th should certainly be doable, team isn't great but it is solid by McCormick standards.
Looking forward to the report.

Gonna second this. Let's see if the two long climbs have any impact, then our climbers could do well. Any point would be welcome, though.

This profile could suit to Rodriguez Galindo quite well, let's see if he brings something to home from China. Every single point can be decisive one in the season end.
Thanks LLS for preview.

Come on, Chaves, make me proud! Let's repeat your riding at Volta a Catalunya and not the one at Tour of Southland.
Thank you for the preview, LLS, and good luck to everyone! |

Surprising winner which doesn’t make a lot of sense but the rest of the Top 10-15 were all fairly even given this type of finish so it was always going to need a bit of luck in terms of positioning.
Paez 8th is not a bad result but I can’t say I’m happy with it either although he’s ahead of some of the other top favourites so we’ll take it I suppose!

Great result for Felline, the new hill competition suits him much more than last year and he manages to sneak off with some nice results.
Unfortunately Felline basically threw away the victory by coming from way back. This is unfortunate because I spotted a Strava rider in 2nd place with 2-3kms to go and was hopeful that it was Felline, then he just disappeared until he re-appeared in the final km. Ofc it might also just be one of the two doms that were still with him; both of them seem to have been empty, coming last in the group. Palini unnfortunately would have been good in the final group too but I guess he missed the cut, that's why it's good to have multiple tickets in a race.
Gratz to the winner and thanks for the nice report!

Enjoyable race even if it came down to a large group sprint. After seeing our men well positioned by the flamme rouge was hoping to take a meaningful result, but McCormick faded really hard in the last 200m, dropping from victory contender to outside the top10.
Anyway, thanks for the report, again, Nemo! Superb effort! Congrats to Pas Normal!

I guess the longer climbs at the end didn't do much. The preview noted it was a small group sprint in the past and that is what it was. We needed another climb to make it more selective.
Thanks for the report Nemo and congrats to Tobias.

7th is good from Vliegen, can't expect much more. No depth is a bit disappointing, so we fall short of the 20 point goal, but it's fine Thanks for the nice report!
