The legendary Gent-Wevelgem continues on the MG calendar uninterrupted for the fifteenth season! Last year's winner Naesen is back and he's the only former winner on the startlist this time. The route is more than 250 kilometers, so it's going to be a right old struggle for the riders and real test of attrition.
The best cobbles riders of the Continental division are here to make a mark in the first race on their preferred terrain. Let's take a look at the top contenders.
| HIL | STA | RES | COB | SPR | ACC | Naesen | 72 | 77 | 73 | 76 | 77 | 76 | Van Keirsbulck | 71 | 75 | 73 | 78 | 70 | 68 | Vanspeybrouck | 69 | 75 | 68 | 80 | 65 | 66 | Tsatevich | 77 | 74 | 73 | 75 | 75 | 75 | Vanmarcke | 65 | 75 | 70 | 79 | 69 | 70 | Thwaites | 65 | 74 | 70 | 76 | 78 | 76 | Declerq | 73 | 73 | 71 | 77 | 67 | 67 | Kristoff | 65 | 70 | 66 | 75 | 80 | 74 | Ovsyannikov | 68 | 74 | 72 | 74 | 77 | 76 | Ariesen | 68 | 74 | 73 | 75 | 70 | 71 | Taubel | 65 | 69 | 73 | 78 | 61 | 64 | Nielsen | 67 | 71 | 75 | 74 | 73 | 71 | Abraha | 64 | 70 | 71 | 75 | 74 | 72 | Kumara | 67 | 74 | 70 | 75 | 71 | 67 | Domene | 57 | 73 | 68 | 76 | 74 | 75 | Puccio | 66 | 76 | 71 | 78 | 60 | 55 | Weber | 66 | 72 | 67 | 74 | 76 | 75 | Richardson | 67 | 68 | 68 | 78 | 60 | 61 |
No surprises to see a Crabbe-CC rider on top of the favourites' list in a Northern classic! Defending champion Naesen is the top favourite according to our bookies, so the pressure's on to live up to the billing and to repeat last year's win. Looking down the list, you'll spot four more Crabbe-CC riders, with Tsatevich, Declerq, Ariesen and Domene all expected to play their role, and as is the rest of team to be honest.
HelloFresh with Van Keirsbulck, the "CT cheat code" in the words of their manager, are the closest competition to the CCC guys. GVK really has performed like a cheat code in CT cobbles race over the past few seasons and he'll be keen to get off to a good start. Thwaites, Kumara and Puccio are a very strong support trio, and you can expect them to be in the mix of things as well.
Trans Looney Tunes will be hoping to be in the mix as well when the crunch time comes. Vanspeybrouck still has got what it takes to win a race like this. His support is a little weaker than those mentioned before but Abraha is a good second wheel.
Pas Normal Studios is another team who has a great chance to make a big splash in this race. Vanmarcke is a genuine podium contender, and Kristoff and Taubel are as good a second and third wheel as they come!
Aramco with Ovsyannikov and Strava with Nielsen are the other teams with top 10 contenders Just goes to show how strong the four teams mentioned before are.
A mention for Weber and Richardson, who are decent riders, but probably lack an overall blend for a race like this.
Spoiler Last Name | First Name | Team | Ovsyannikov | Alexandr | Aramco DP | Hesters | Jules | Aramco DP | Sureda | Jaume | Aramco DP | Abdul Halil | Mohamad Izzat Hilmi | Aramco DP | Cardona | Julian | Aramco DP | Hasnaoui | Maher | Aramco DP | Noia | Carlo | Aramco DP | Weber | Sascha | BNZ-Superhero Racing | Orue | German Anibal | BNZ-Superhero Racing | Muhindo | Jimmy | BNZ-Superhero Racing | Le Roux | Romain | BNZ-Superhero Racing | Gough | Regan | BNZ-Superhero Racing | Vuillermoz | Alexis | BNZ-Superhero Racing | Scott | Cameron | BNZ-Superhero Racing | Edmondson | Joshua | BNZ-Superhero Racing | Losch | Max | BWT Hyundai N Cycling | Richardson | Chequan | BWT Hyundai N Cycling | Barbier | Rudy | BWT Hyundai N Cycling | Stokbro | Andreas | BWT Hyundai N Cycling | Visser | Louis | BWT Hyundai N Cycling | Szarka | Gergely | BWT Hyundai N Cycling | Robov | Momchil | BWT Hyundai N Cycling | Andersen | Michael Valgren | BWT Hyundai N Cycling | Naesen | Oliver | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | Tsatevich | Alexey | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | Declerq | Tim | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | Ariesen | Tim | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | Domene | Ramon | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | Manakov | Viktor | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | Nareklishvili | Beka | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | Kulikovskiy | Alexandr | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | Hugentobler | Gregory | Eddie Stobart | Cimolai | Davide | Eddie Stobart | Taillefour | Fabien | Eddie Stobart | Berger | Hakon Frengstad | Eddie Stobart | Bogdanovics | Maris | Eddie Stobart | Meyer | Travis | Eddie Stobart | Lovik | asmund Romstad | Eddie Stobart | Moreno Hernandez | Salvador | Eddie Stobart | Bauhaus | Phil | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Arensman | Thymen | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Zingle | Axel | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Finkler | Leonardo Henrique | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Ulysbayev | Dinmukhammed | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Ratto | Daniele | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Fejes | Gabor | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Li | Wen Hao | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Teggart | Matthew | Glanbia Foods Cycling Project | Corwin | Dadley | Glanbia Foods Cycling Project | King | Ben | Glanbia Foods Cycling Project | Meyer | Cameron | Glanbia Foods Cycling Project | Hahessy | Sean | Glanbia Foods Cycling Project | O'Loughlin | Michael | Glanbia Foods Cycling Project | Richardson | Ian | Glanbia Foods Cycling Project | Downey | Mark | Glanbia Foods Cycling Project | Van Keirsbulck | Guillaume | HelloFresh | Thwaites | Scott | HelloFresh | Kumara | Amith Udaya | HelloFresh | Puccio | Salvatore | HelloFresh | Stash | Mamyr | HelloFresh | Tikhonin | Evgenii | HelloFresh | Walls | Matthew | HelloFresh | Redecker | Heiko | HelloFresh | Rathe | Jakob | McCormick Pro Cycling | Hecht | Gage | McCormick Pro Cycling | Walscheid | Maximilian | McCormick Pro Cycling | Rojus | Adomaitis | McCormick Pro Cycling | Granigan | Noah | McCormick Pro Cycling | Januskevicius | Mantas | McCormick Pro Cycling | Chaiyasombat | Thanakhan | McCormick Pro Cycling | Vanmarcke | Sep | Pas Normal Studios - Mikkeller | Kristoff | Alexander | Pas Normal Studios - Mikkeller | Taubel | Christoph | Pas Normal Studios - Mikkeller | Juul-Jensen | Christopher | Pas Normal Studios - Mikkeller | Johansen | Julius | Pas Normal Studios - Mikkeller | Christapopoulos | Pangiotis | Pas Normal Studios - Mikkeller | Shevchenko | Oleksandr | Pas Normal Studios - Mikkeller | Charmig | Anthon | Pas Normal Studios - Mikkeller | Nielsen | Joanis Albert | Strava | Sbaragli | Kristian | Strava | Sanikwathi | Thanawut | Strava | Kuznetsov | Vyacheslav | Strava | Oelerich | Jan | Strava | Kluge | Roger | Strava | Tarvis | Peeter | Strava | Oss | Daniel | Strava | Hvideberg | Jonas Iversby | Tafjord Kraft | Andersen | Idar | Tafjord Kraft | Schorn | Daniel | Tafjord Kraft | Hjemsaeter | Olav | Tafjord Kraft | Urianstad | Martin | Tafjord Kraft | Andersen | Sander | Tafjord Kraft | Mahdar | Martin | Tafjord Kraft | Lunder | Eirik | Tafjord Kraft | Vanspeybrouck | Pieter | Trans Looney Tunes | Abraha | Tesfay | Trans Looney Tunes | Keukeleire | Jens | Trans Looney Tunes | Kolev | Iliyan | Trans Looney Tunes | Primozic | Jaka | Trans Looney Tunes | Munoz | Cristian | Trans Looney Tunes | Jurado | Cristofer Robin | Volcanica - Fox | Rojas | Henry Antonio | Volcanica - Fox | Jimenez Retana | John | Volcanica - Fox | Villalobos | Roman | Volcanica - Fox | Rivera | Kevin | Volcanica - Fox | Mudarra | Pablo | Volcanica - Fox |

Have high hopes here for our young gun, Ovsya. He’s up there as one of the better sprinters of those who have strength over the cobbles so if he’s there at the end then he may be able to surprise a few!

Glanbia's "threat" here comes from new signing Dadley Corwin. On pure cobbles (76stat) he can compete but this one looks too hilly and long. Also my grandmother is a faster sprinter.
A top 20 would be a good result!
thanks for preview

Vanspeybrouck had a nice start in the new season at the last race with 4th place but if the bigger group will come together then he doesn't have a big chance for higher places.
All our other specialists from the cobbles race didn't show a lot in the last race.
Abraha had nice and consistent results last year across the season and I hope he will manage to hold a nice and good form.
Kolev (77cob) and Keukeleireare (70cob /79spr) are new to our team. They didn't show a lot in the last race this is why I hope they will manage to hold the peloton to the finish special Keukeleire can be fast in a finish.
Thanks for preview AbhishekLFC.

Disappointed this race has gone down to CT, I'll join the cheering for the home team!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

After Weber got second last year I kinda disagree with the statement that he doesn't suit this race. Nevertheless it will be exciting to see Weber and Orue in this race together. Excited to see how my new cobbles squad goes!

Thanks for the preview!
Going to be interesting to see how aggressively this race will be ridden considering the depth that a lot of teams bring here. Obviously looking at GVK for this one!

Let's go for the repeat, Naesen! Would love to see him succeed again, Crabbe has the team to make it happen, but they might just go for Tsatevich instead as well. Rooting for Abraha to make an impact as well, representing Africa's modest cobbles scene.

Hehe, 40th place. Let's just forget this race before we need to forget GP Herning as well |

A great result for Ovsya to finish 4th!! Albeit a little disappointing that he didn't win the sprint for 2nd against Vanmarcke or even get that group to the end to take the Win.

Considering that this team was going to set the world on fire, it's a decent-ish result.
Also, Crabbe is OP on cobbles

Really glad to see Orue race well! 13th is a great effort and gives me confidence for the cobbles races with more sectors and difficulty!
