Anyone on these forums a fan of icehockey (the NHL in particular) ?
I'm a big fan of the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL. I watch their games online if I can and don't have to get up too early the next day
I'm also a fan of the Gullegem Jets who play in the second division here in Belgium. But Belgium isn't an icehockey-country at all so the level of play here is extremely low (recreational you can say).
Anyoner else a fan and if so, what team(s) ? |

Several Danes signed with NHL teams last season, so that might make me more interested. But as it is now, I have never watched a NHL game. I have watched a single Danish league game, but all-in-all I prefer playing the console game |

Ah yes Jannik Hansen plays for Vancouver... First Danish player ever to play in the NHL Playoffs (last season). And he did very well too. |

for some reason I've always followed the situation at the lightning. Not that I'm a fan. (Devils!!! ), but I was a kid and they were playing the first time I saw a game, and I just picked up from there...
problem is...they're in a bit of a dead end.
what with the american wage systems (which I like), they're kind of in a rut to rebuild. they have "those" three that are so good, so talented, cause so much pain to opposing defences....and nothing else.
as insanely good as St.Louis, Lecavalier and Richards are...all they do is offense. the defense stinks. and the goalies...don't get me started.
and with their huge salaries, there's not much room to rebuild.
plus, they haven't really gotten the rights to any hot youngsters out there. and all that together just makes fans want to scream.
too bad to win anything, too good to get good draft picks....
still, as far as I know, St.Louis' contract is up this summer. bad as it might sound, his salary COULD clear up some cap room. but if they haven't yet traded him, I suppose they're looking at re-signing him.

I'm a Washington Capitals fan
In a few years we are going to be #1 because of the following players -
Note: All of these guys are young
Ovechkin (Needs no explanation)
Semin - Great up-and-coming goal scorer
Mike Green - Top goal scoring defensemen
Nicholas Backstrom - One of the assists-men in the league, and still a rookie
P.S. Thanks to the deal with the Candians to get Huet, we have closed up the question involving Olie the Goalie's age.

Too Bad Huet isn't young anymore and Varlamov has mental issues. The problem isn't resolved. it's delayed

I didn't say we are going to be #1 this year, just very soon in the future.
And Huet is better than having Olie play day in and day out, he looks as though he can barely walk (I have sat on the boards at the goal line, I can tell you that this is not as much as a joke as it seems) |

English speakers slaughter most names
Did you happen to hear Leipheimer's interview after the Tour? If I was Contador, I would've punched him in the face. literally. He made no effort whatsoever to pronounce Contador's name and just treated it as an american word.

Sorry, but correct spelling isn't exactly a requirement on this forum (don't even think about it CrueTrue) |
