game: PCM08 v 1.0.1.4
db: RealNameDBv2
difficulty: hard

First off, this will not be a "story" in the sence of me pretending to be a DS, it'll more be a race-and-progress log. Some story elements may hower be included at some points...
Neither will it be a neverending story. I'll play until the fusion db is released, the game has been patched enough and I've bought a new computer. My current computer is a bit below specs, but the game runs. This means that the screens will be of shitty quality, sorry about that.
I'll try and keep a high pace, simulating a lot.

The team I've chosen is ELK House-Simplon. An Austrian team, focused on climbers. I'll try to keep the team as native as possble, but if the opportunity should arise I will not hesitate to sign a foreign rider that will improve the team.

The season goals that will see our sponsors happy:

img143.imageshack.us/img143/5017/08goalszs1.jpg

Österrich Rundfart is our main goal for the season. I'll focus on getting my main riders in form for that. GP di Lugano, another high priority race, is really early in the season and it's possible to top the same riders for that race.
Gaining a wild card to Tour de Romandie, that's a tough one. Will require a good continental ranking in march/april (wild cards are mostly based on that - I think).

Main riders

Rohregger
img209.imageshack.us/img209/1548/pcm0003dq8.png
Our star, if he can be considered as one. ain goal of the season will be Österrich Rundfahrt. Will also be training for Tour de Romandie, so let's hope we can ge that wild card.

Eibegger
img99.imageshack.us/img99/1989/pcm0001kw4.png
A descent climber. Will target the GP Triberg - Schwarzwald (possibly picking up a cake at Schwarzwald), the Tour of Slovania and Sachsen Tour International. Will also act as domestic in Österrich Rundfahrt.

Radochla
img501.imageshack.us/img501/7370/pcm0002ov6.png
Possibly our best sprinter. Will try and score some points on flat stages early in the season, and later on be in shape for Sachsen Tour International.

Summer
img165.imageshack.us/img165/9435/pcm0004ka0.png
Another half descent sprinter. Pretty much the same scheduele as the german above, will target the flat stages of Österrich Rundfahrt.

Trampusch
img296.imageshack.us/img296/160/pcm0005el6.png
The last of the featured riders. Will have Tour de Romandie and Tour of Slovenia as his main goals for the season.

That wraps up the presentation part of this "story".
Btw, I spent about 3 hours fixing scheduels...

ringo182
sorting out your schedules at the start of the season is the most time consuming and important part of the game. if you get it right the rest of the seaon should go well.

good look.

January summary
Not really a moth for cycling. Some importamt events though; registered for Vuelta ciclista a Andalucia and Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. Not targeted races but perfect preparation for our early goal in Lugano.

Were unsuccelsfull in signing secondary sponsors. Probably due to the fact that this db contains no austrian secondary sponsors...

ringo182
gaining sponsors can be a bit hit and miss. i'm Milram on the Pro-Tour and i had to settle for 2 sponsors with small budgetsAngry

best bet is to ask everyone at the start, you should get at least 1.

Secondary sponsors are always difficult. On my CSC career i only got one very large sponsor.

Using the neighboors wireless network is clever, but it sure as hell is slow. Having problems uploading images right now. Will do it from work tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get my 100 MB connection by tomorrow.

Le Tour de Langkawi
Our main sprinters are here to score some points on the flat stages of Malaysia.

Stage 1
img211.imageshack.us/img211/1179/langkawi10mv5.png
Some small hills that probably will cause probems for the pure sprinters.

img507.imageshack.us/img507/5435/langkawi11wo9.png
It was a really hot day. Todays first serious break included four riders, Amongst them Froome of Barloworld. With 86km to go the held a lead of 5 minutes.

img76.imageshack.us/img76/1844/langkawi12zt8.png
LPR-Ballan, Liberty Seguros and Agritubel joined forces.

img528.imageshack.us/img528/629/langkawi13oi7.png
With 40 kilometers to go, the lead was still over 3 minutes.

img507.imageshack.us/img507/1241/langkawi14xs8.png
But, with just 3.5 k to go, they had to surrender. Now began the fight for positions.

img523.imageshack.us/img523/7496/langkawi15fv7.png
Radochla has found the wheel of Renshaw, but surely they are to far back.

img521.imageshack.us/img521/1116/langkawi16oe3.png
Dell'Antonia of CSF-Navigare beats Designa Køkkens Reihs on the finish line. Radochla finished in a disappointing 18th place. Apparently Renshaw was not the guy to follow today.

Stage 2
Flat as a pancake.

Apparently the screenshots from stage two were lost. A quick resumee.
Roy of FdJ was on a solo mission for most of the race. He was caught with 19 kilometers to go. It was alwas going to be a sprint finish on a flat stage like this one. Jimmy Casper proved the strongest finishing in front of Sacchi and Radochla, who was on Caspers wheel but didn't have the strenght to pass him.

Stage 3
img520.imageshack.us/img520/2688/langkawi30cm6.png
A flat profile, will Casper take another sprint victory?

The peloton was constantly attacked, but the sprinter team kept them within distance.

img525.imageshack.us/img525/8291/langkawi31au5.png
The fighting face of Eibegger as he leads the break.

img211.imageshack.us/img211/9739/langkawi32qp7.png
Agritubel and Credit Agricole has started the chase. At 85 k, the 11 man strong break holds close to 6 minutes.

img507.imageshack.us/img507/4892/langkawi33vt5.png
The pace is relly hot in the leading group. Eibegger has been forced to drop. The leaders hold just over 3 mins at 33 k.

img76.imageshack.us/img76/2055/langkawi34rq5.png
LPR sets a furious pace, the break is within distance.

img528.imageshack.us/img528/1773/langkawi35kw2.png
Radochla chooses to follow Casper again, but ends up on the tail of Renshaw.

img507.imageshack.us/img507/9471/langkawi36gu5.png
A mass fall. Trampusch is invovled. It's within 3 km so they won't loose time. Let's hope he isn't injured.

img525.imageshack.us/img525/3216/langkawi37bl6.png
Casper dliveres, Renshaw finishes second and Radochlo manages to squeze in as fifth.

rontgen
Stage 4
img508.imageshack.us/img508/4509/langkawi40aq3.bmp[/IMG]
Yet another flat stage. Sit back and follow Casper will be todays tactic.

[IMG]https://img236.imageshack.us/img236/8905/langkawi41zr4.png
The break of the day. Chased by Agritbuel. The break has no chance of making it.

img511.imageshack.us/img511/8240/langkawi42db8.png
Radochla stays close to the man in yellow.

img509.imageshack.us/img509/87/langkawi43sz3.png
Bencik of PSK Whirlpool is out on his own.

img236.imageshack.us/img236/2663/langkawi44gr6.png
As the sprint starts both Summer and Radochla are in good postitions, but they seem to lack some speed today, being unable to hold on to their wheels.

img511.imageshack.us/img511/6650/langkawi45bn3.png
800 meters to go. Casper is accelerating, Renshaw is on his wheel. Summer has regained some strength and is chasing Rheis in the lead.

img510.imageshack.us/img510/4237/langkawi46hj6.png
Gaztañaga cheers, Casper has taken his third straight victory. Sumer manages to finish 7th and scores a few points for the team. Radochla was not his normal self today and just misses top 10.

Stage 5
img509.imageshack.us/img509/8606/langkawi50ot0.png
Pancakes are served to the left and right. Will anybode but Casper get a taste?

img511.imageshack.us/img511/4442/langkawi51kw7.png
Agritubel are working to keep the break within distance. Casper is contributing. Either he's feeling really good or it's a bad tactical move.

img508.imageshack.us/img508/5458/langkawi52ru3.png
Since the "follow Casper" strategy hasn't proven perfect, another one is tested today. The elk-train.

img236.imageshack.us/img236/1198/langkawi53ft7.png
1 kilometer to go and it's looking good. Casper is closing fast though.

img511.imageshack.us/img511/8440/langkawi54kn1.png
Sijmens takes it in front of Rehis. Casper came fast, but late. Sprinted by both Summer and Radochla, who finished 6th and 7th. After all a wise move not to sit on the wheel of the friendly ghost.

Flat, I mean stage 6.
img224.imageshack.us/img224/6310/langkawi60tz1.png

Trampusch is stil feeling the fall he had on stage 3. He's lost loads of time, but we've kept him for the mountain stage (8). He's still hurt today and will not stage 6.

img507.imageshack.us/img507/7286/langkawi61hh4.png
Starzengruber is in todays break. He's testing his legs for the GP di Lugano. Agritubel is controlling the pack.

img511.imageshack.us/img511/9092/langkawi62cv6.png
The team mates of Casper are working hard.

img510.imageshack.us/img510/9828/langkawi63ko0.png
Back to plan A. Follow Casper.

img509.imageshack.us/img509/6408/langkawi64cm5.png
THe Casper train has fallen behind. Summer is following Goss and his lead out man.

img511.imageshack.us/img511/9854/langkawi65jm0.png
Casper has found his way again. Tremendous. Radochla beats Goss for ninth place.

rontgen
Stage 7
img92.imageshack.us/img92/6484/langkawi70nu2.png
Flat profile.

img393.imageshack.us/img393/5790/langkawi71si1.png
Bak leading the break, 9 minutes ahed of the Agritubel controlled peloton, with 120 km to go.

img387.imageshack.us/img387/3264/langkawi72el0.png
Agritubel, working for their leader.

img525.imageshack.us/img525/5576/langkawi73dk9.png
The pace is high and the wind is strong. Will the peloton split? The break is within sight.

img523.imageshack.us/img523/2227/langkawi74mx9.png
There it is. Radochla s on the right side of the split, Summer isn't. Who else is left behind?

img512.imageshack.us/img512/8995/langkawi75tc2.png
And we're back to one. LPR worked hard.

img92.imageshack.us/img92/7987/langkawi76hl0.png
Designa Køkken is dominating so far, leading the pack as well as having a sprint train up front. SUmmer is on the wheel of Reihs. Radochla is following Casper, will he find his way out again or have the small hils cost to much energy?

img92.imageshack.us/img92/9163/langkawi77pq8.png
Herrero is coming fast, Reihs is close by. Summer has dropped the wheel of Reihs, but is gaining on him. Casper and Radochla are behind, but moving to the front.

img136.imageshack.us/img136/6688/langkawi78gw2.png
Status quo. Herrero in front of Reihs. The hills at the end were a deciding factor.

Stage 8
img92.imageshack.us/img92/5639/langkawi80un6.png
At last, a stage Casper won't win. The tour will be descided today. We have no GC hope but Eibegger will push for a top 10 in the stage.

img373.imageshack.us/img373/3438/langkawi81jl6.png
With 67 km to go, a group of ten holds close to five minutes on the pack. Among the leading riders is CSCs Ljungkvist. The pack will have to watch out.

img387.imageshack.us/img387/4113/langkawi82vr0.png
Once again, Agritubel is controlling the pack. Moreau has got a nice jersey on, I wonder what you have to do to get one like it.

img136.imageshack.us/img136/1103/langkawi83zf9.png
Soler takes of at the foot of the climb. With 28 kilometers of climinb left, that must be too early.

img523.imageshack.us/img523/3062/langkawi84nt8.png
Soler is joined by Gadret and some other strong climbers.

img512.imageshack.us/img512/5278/langkawi85hz2.png
Di Luca goes on attack. Eibegger is with him.

img92.imageshack.us/img92/5852/langkawi86fc0.png
14 kilometers to go. Eibeggers group has caught the original break with Ljungkvist. Eibegger is being pulled by Herrero.

img92.imageshack.us/img92/5286/langkawi87fm4.png
Caruso, Casar, Sörensen and Arieta are out in front. Can they hold on?

10 kilometers to go and Eibegger has been caught by the peloton. Herrero has broken loose and is chasing the leading four.

img136.imageshack.us/img136/2624/langkawi88ls5.png
Voeckler, Simoni and Sörensen are ahead of a group of seven, including Eibegger. The austrian is looking tired. Can he fight off the peloton for a top ten finish?

img92.imageshack.us/img92/3820/langkawi89ps2.png
The dane is the strongest up the climb and Sörensen will be in yellow tomorrow.. Further back, the peloton has caught up with Eibegger and he finishes as number thirteen. So close to what he aimed for.
