Im starting a story with Team CSC Saxo Bank. My goals is victory in every grand tour, and becoming the worlds leading team. Im playing on hard, but maybe extreme on some of the mountain stages.
Heres the rules:
-Im not signing doped riders.
-If one of CSC's riders gets busted for doping in real life, I will kick him out of my team.
-Im not going to buy all the superstars. Max two riders with 80+ in the mountains.
-Im trying to make a talented team. Im not signing riders who's 35+ years old.
-My primary scouting zone is Denmark.
-The posting speed depends on how good you like my story.
I guess I'll post the first part tonight or tomorrow. |

My name is Kristian Pettersen, and Im the owner of the Danish company Saxo Bank. I’ve always been a big fan of cycling, all since I saw Miguel Indurain dominate in the mountains. Now Im 26 years old, Im having a great job, a nice wife, two sons, and lots of money. Actually, it is quite boring at work. The same things are happening every day. But one day, something strange came up, and it made me very happy. Bjarne Riis, the boss in Team CSC needed a new sponsor, because CSC didn’t want to sign a new contract after next year. The date was 28. November 2007. I took the offer, and now my company was sponsor for a cycling team, named Team CSC Saxo Bank.
Things looked good, until the end of December 2007. Bjarne Riis got fired, because of his doping-allegations. CSC stood without a manager for the 2008-season. They were desperate, and contacted me, because they know I knew much about cycling. I said yes, and that’s how I got the role as both manager and sponsor for the worlds leading team; Team CSC Saxo Bank.

Presentation of the team
The goals:
-Finish top-5 in Milan-San Remo
-Win Vuelta a Espana
-Win Tour de France
-Win Paris-Roubaix
-Win Giro di Lombardia
I've managed to find 3 secondary sponsors for my team. Here they are.
We have five scouts wich will scout in Denmark, Slovenia, USA and Italy. We hope to sign 1-3 young talents at the end of the season.
Here is our most important riders:
Fabian Cancellara will be our leader in the cobbled races. He will also go for stage wins in Tour de France, and will be a great teammate for Sastre at the flats.
Carlos Sastre is our leader in Tour de France, and if he don't fatigue to much, he will also lead us in the Vuelta a Espana.
Andy Schleck is our leader in Giro d'Italia. He will also be our leader in Vuelta a Espana if he's in better form than Sastre.
Fränk Schleck will lead us in the Ardennes classics. He will also ride the Tour, as an excellent helper for Sastre in the mountains.
Jens Voigt is our most important teammate he's good on the flats, he can climb, and is good in time trials. Voigt will work for Sastre in the Tour.
I have made a list of riders I want to sign at the end of the season. Our primary target is Alberto Contador, because Sastre soon is too old.

Australia Championships
The team
Bradley McGee
Stuart O'Grady
Matthew Goss
Stuart have this race as one of his goals this season. Lets see how it plays out:
The first break today.
It looks like they are gonna be reeled in.
But they gain some time downhilling. 1'30 minutes down to the pack.
Team Columbia sets the pace.
Goss is working hard.
Henk Vogels is first man to get dropped.
The break is still 4 minutes ahead when Stuart O'Grady attacks! Come on Stuey, you can do it!
Riders from the peloton comes up to Stuart. He doesn't like it, and attacks downhill!
But Day is strong, and takes the victory. He's two minutes ahead of O'Grady.
Second place to Stuart isn't bad, but he hoped for a victory. Now he will try to win Tour Down Under instead.

Tour Down Under
Team:
Allan Johansen
Nicki Sørensen
Kurt Asle Arvesen
Stuart O'Grady
Matthew Goss
Bradley McGee
Lars Ytting Bak
Kasper Klostergaard
We wont to win this race it isn't very important, but it would be nice to lead the ProTour so early. Kurt Asle Arvesen and Stuart O'Grady is our captains.
Nicki Sørensen is taking some points for the climber jersey.
The CSC train is working perfectly well i Tour Down Under. Promising for the rest of the season.
And on the same stage we took a triple victory! Not something you see very often!
At one point we had all the jerseys.
But in the end, Filippo Pozzato was the strongest. Arvesen was number two before the last stage, but it became a split in the peloton, and the whole team was on the wrong side.
Pozzato also won the point jersey.
And our own Nicki Sørensen was the strongest in the mountains! Well done, Nicki!
Heinrich Haussler was the best young rider.
I think we did a good job, but I really wanted to win. Kurt and Stuart were also disappointed. Anyway, it wasn't an important race. Now we have a long break, until Amgen Tour of California, our next race.
So, what do you think so far? Is my story good? Is it bad? |

I think it's good so far. KUTGW!

Summary of January
This is a short summary of what’s happened in the rest of January.
Filippo Pozzato won the “best rider of the month” contest. Morris Possoni was the best young rider. Marco Pinotti won Tour of Qatar. Garmin Chipotle won the team time trial, but Pinotti was in a break on the last stage. His teammate Gregory Henderson was second, while Garmin Chipotle’s Danny Pate finished third. My scouts found some new talents, but none of them would have a great future. The board is pleased with the results so far, and everything looks great.
Not a long and good part, but at least you know what's happened in January. |

Amgen Tour of California
The team:
Karsten Kroon
Gustav Larsson
Jens Voigt
Juan José Haedo
Bobby Julich
Volodimir Gustov
Lars Ytting Bak
Jason McCartney
Not a very important race. Voigt can win it, but it's gonna be difficult.
Young Thomas Dekker did an okay prologue. He also won the whole race.
But this prologue was won by Jens Voigt! Way to go!
Lars Bak spend the most of his racing time in breaks.
Gustav Larsson shows his strenght in the uphill section. Voigt is coming up from behind.
Larsson was second on the mountainstage. Voigt finished fourth.
Kroon in his polkadot jersey.
The peloton is riding through the forest.
Thomas Dekker won Amgen Tour of California. I bet he's happy.
Kroon won the climbers jersey pretty easy.
It hasn't been "our tour" but that's not important. What's important is the ProTour races next month. We hope to win both Tirreno-Adriatico and Milan-San Remo with Cancellara. |

Trofeo Laiguegla and Tour du Haut Var (simmed)
The team:
Marcus Ljungqvist
Nicki Sørensen
Alexandre Kolobnev
Chris Anker Sørensen
Lasse Bøchman
André Steensen
Jurgen Van Goolen
Im happy with Alexandre Kolobnev's performance today. It looks like he's gonna be a superb teammate for Fränk Schleck in the Ardennes.
Kolobnev is still doing good. The big surprise today was Robert Hunter, who managed to win this hilly race.
Comments, anyone? |

Omloop Het Volk
The team:
Allan Johansen
Kurt Asle Arvesen
Matti Breschel
Fabian Cancellara
Stuart O'Grady
Marcus Ljungqvist
Michael Blaudzun
Anders Lund
The first breakaway.
After 80 km the break have a good lead.
Togeher with Quickstep we sat a so hard pace that most of the riders fell of! Now it's 19 riders in the front group, included Cancellara, Flecha and Boonen.
25 km to go, and Nuyens attacks! Cancellara follows, and Boonen is on his wheel.
10km to go, and Boonen is alone in front. Cancellara have problems in the group behind.
And now Devolder is attacking! He's breaking free from Cancellara's group, and tries to catch up with Boonen. Will it be a double for Quickstep?
Yes, is the answer. Boonen wins Omloop Het Volk, and Devolder is second. Cancellara finished fifth, a bit disappointing.
Results:
Boonen is sailing up as one of the favourites to win Paris-Roubaix, now.

you should put all of your efforts into paris-roubaix. if cancellara gets in a break without a sprinter like boonen he could easily win. |
