Hey people! I am starting my 2018 story late again this year as I spent another fantastic 3 months in the USA over the summer, and also because this version has required a LOT more work. Previously, I was using my own generic 80s database. This year, I have created 5 different databases, one for each year from to 1980 to 1984, with around 80 teams for each year, all accurate, with accurate riders, dates of birth and jerseys. I was hoping to do this for every year of the 1980s but it’s just too much work for one year and I would just never have got through it so I’ll be using each db for 2 seasons and I’ll hopefully be able to do the other databases for next year. Some of the teams were really tiny and only have a couple of riders but there weren't that many teams around in the 80s so I had to make the best of it...
All the riders are at their best throughout all the databases, so for instance when Fignon turns pro, he will already have Tour de France winning characteristics.
In the meantime, welcome to the 1980s! I have created my own team (resurrecting the famous Gan team from the 1970s) with Signori, a gifted 21yo at its head and 14 other made-up riders so as to keep the other teams accurate. The Gan team starts at Continental level and should make its way up to the top level very quickly and ride the biggest races around. Signori’s characteristics are the same as they were at the end of the last story, minus 6 points on everything. He will get an extra point every season to reach his best by the age of 27.
Important disclaimer: I have not tested the databases other than making sure they work.
