I just read that an entire cycling team were hit by a car. The driver was asleep and drunk. One of the riders died.

The guy on the left in the green and white must be counting himself rather lucky.

I just re-read the news. It happened during a race. 10 riders were involved in the crash, one died. It happened in Mexico, but it was an American driver. After the accident, the crowd wanted revenge, but the police managed to prevent it. |

this is a tragedy, I've read everywhere from 1, 2 to 5 dead. It was a family race in Mexico, what a tragedy. Stupid cocaine/alcohol-influenced sleeping driver. |

Santi Perez as found a new team for the remainder of the season: CC Loulé.
What? A rider that was suspended for 2 years is now in a portuguese team? No way...

I am wondering, why is Contador dropping the Olympics? It seems as though every suspicious rider drops the olympics, Armstrong did that too. |

It's confirmed now that the Tour de France will be under the control of the FFC.
UCI are of course angry, and are going to take sanctions on those who do ride, just like they did for Paris-Nice

The French anti-doping agency will therefore be in charge of the doping tests before and during the race.
This means they will able to use information gathered in the UCI's blood passport scheme.
Not good Why ? |

Mis-post...they won't be able to use information gathered in the UCI's blood passport scheme.

France has the toughest antidoping laws in the world, which is good. Dopers will go to jail in France now.
There will be more tests in this year's le Tour, riders will be given no prewarning and they will be escorted by 8 guards.
The dopers should be afraid, very afraid. Hopefully they won't show up at le Tour, maybe that's why the suspicious guys ride the Giro and Vuelta. |

Anyway, this year the blood passport is only used to drive the antidoping controls, it has no values to suspend riders. I suppose that simply watching the race will be enough to know which riders must be controlled randomly.
