Vinokourov in the Olympics?

I read in a Norwegian newspaper that Vinokourov is going to make a comeback in Beijing.
It also says that UCI's only hope is that he hasn't been tested for drugs in the past 3 months.
What do you believe about this? |

it was ridiculous that the UCI didn't see through him saying he would "retire". They should have enforced a much longer ban than the measly one the kazakhs gave him

This was always going to happen 
The UCI is starting to become absolutely useless, the ProTour will end this season after being a complete disaster, and now Vino will do what every cycling fan knew he would
I think some of them should go into politics

I said this from the very beginning. Only getting a 1-year-sentence, and knowing that UCI would be too stupid / lazy to follow it up with a 2-year-ban, it was damn sure he would make a comeback. That said, it's not "official" yet, but I know it will happen if not UCI gets themselves together. It's so stupid... |

Yeah, I just hope that he won't be allowed to start the Olympics because of that "he has not been available for testing in 3 months." |

Even if he does get suspended, Kazakhstan still wants Vinokourov at the Olympics. He's supposed to hold their flags in the opening ceremony. |

I like the first couple of lines: "Johan Bruyneel would prefer to die before signing Alexandre Vinokourov.”
Bruyneel? The guy who had no problems with signing Ivan Basso and Contador while they were both being investigated for doping (Operation Puerto)? That Bruyneel? I just learned something new |

People's morales are unmoveable unless it is inconvenient for them
The International Olympic Committee needs to adopt the British Olmpics Committee policy - fail a drug test, and you are banned for competing for life - it's time to get tough on drugs cheats

Yes, the Johan Bruyneel who, as a rider, broke the record for fastest tour de france stage win ever, in a breakaway with no one else but him taking pulls, at the height of the doping age.

In this case, luckily, morale is irrelevant. The WADA code is clear. Vino will be suspended for two years.
If anything, morale is ruining this sport. In any other sport, morale is more or less irrelevant, as it should be. Sport is about physical performance, and anybody can compete, as long as they follow the rules. And to judge whether athletes are following the rules, shouldn't be up to speculation or public relations.
But again, this case have nothing to do with morale. Vino broke the rules, ergo he's out! |

That's the same as Contador saying he in no way was prepared to start in the Giro 08 - lies, lies, lies. Of course he's saying he won't make a comeback, otherwise UCI will actually start doing their work and appeal the decision of the Kazakh Anti Doping organization. |

I don't believe the IOC will allow Vino to compete in the olympics. Neither will WADA, so there is no sense in debating it really. There is no way Vino is riding in the olympics. No way. |
