here it goes, Queen of the Classics.

So what bit of the race you looking forward to?
Who do you think will take the crown?

Can't wait for this

you had better posted a poll.
I say Boonen but cancellara and hoste are also very good at the moment

I think Thor Hushovd will do very good. Already looked pretty good at RVV, and this time there ain't any hills to climb. However, the trend this season is that a solo attack 20km from the line will decide the race, so I guess whichever team having two guys in the frontgroup 20k before the velodrome, will send their superdomestic up the road. Probably riding contra just as another breakattemp is wheeled in?

i reckon hoste will be pretty hungry after wat happened in the tour of flanders

The solo attacks are the trend, but i doubt this will come down to a 20km break, it's likely to happen much closer to the line from a group (a la RVV).
The Rabobank guys were looking very strong, but Hushovd did do well in the Ronde.
Too many names, i don't have a clue really who will win.

Boonen looked very good in RVV, so I expect him to do well here too.

After I completely over-hyped Cancellara for RVV, I'm going to say Boonen

It's not completely impossible!

With all respect to Devolder and his RVV win, I wouldn't really consider him a contender for the P-R. I just don't think he'll be up there in the hell of the north, its probably too flat for him. Wink

Boonen looks like hes coming into form just at the right time, so I vote Boonen, although Flecha also looks strong and I wouldn't rule out Hushovd either. Looking forward to Sunday already! Grin

Lol Burghardt and Gusev in this poll. It's impossible after their injuries. It would be the effort of the year if they could win here after coming back so shortly before this race.

And lol at stuart, Devolder is a tt specialist, he likes flat as much as hills and mountains.

Boonen, Cancellara, Hoste, but also Backstedt (good in de Panne and allways good here) will fight it out.
I hope for a good race bij Maaskanti Grin

I'd be surprised to see Bäckstedt up there, but then again, I haven't really watched any of the flat cobble races this season.

Backstedt was better than Devolder in the ITT of the 3 days of the Panne and has been aiming for this race. I'm sure he'll be there. I hope he takes his teammate Maaskant with him Pfft

I don't mean Devolder can't ride on the flat Ruben, but I don't think he'll be able to get a gap on the flat cobble sections with so many strong men in contention. Wink

I think Hoste will win, he is very hungry now, after the punctureWink

I think that it'll be between Cancellara, Boonen, Hoste and Flecha. Near the end they will be together, barring any puctures or crashes, and then they will either be hanging onto Boonen's wheel trying to keep up, or they will be attacking him a hell of a lot. There's no way they can go into the Veledrome with Boonen with them, if they want to win.

Flecha looked very strong in RVV, Cancellara has been great so far, although he dipped a bit in RVV, Boonen is looking good and Hoste, well, who knows what he could've done, had he not punctured.

I'm hoping Flecha will win, but he doesn't seem to win anything, so a more realstic bet would be BoonenRolling Eyes

I say the Nick Nuyens, who I consider the most under-appreciated northern classics rider in the world (I find that only in the PCM.daily DB's is he given correct stats) will say to hell with helping Chavanel, and breakaway near the line to win, with Boonen 2nd and Cancellara 3rd.

All of the major races are shown in the U.S. Levi, they are normally on at around 4-5 o'clock, Sunday on Versus, except for the Tour, which is on live in July.

Ballan just won P-R in the PCM.daily Beta 2, so I've changed my mind Pfft
