I wonder if you guys also love strategy games. This is my favorite. What you think? Why Cyanide don't learn with these guys? They can put hundreds of men in one small place without pushing very hard the computer. |

actually, it's the hardest game out there in terms of PC requirements.
that is...in a maximum-soldiers-possible situation
that game is the proof that being a big company has nothing to do with putting out something polished.
when it came out, it was horribly unbalanced.
shields didn't work, any unit that used two-handed weapons simply didn't work. a ton of bugs.
now patch 1.2 is out. it's great.
but what makes it fantastic is the unbelievable amount of mods for it.
I can't wait for the Total Realism guys to release a mod for Medieval 2. it's going to take forever, but when they do, It'll be amazing (as their mods always are), and will change an unbelievable amount in the game (as their mods always do).
in short:
the community is huge and devoted and that is fantastic
and yes, I love it!

Indeed, i found more challenger Rome Total Realism that the game himself. Moreover the costumes of the soldiers, "fire pigs" etc. (things that were inaccurate with the history) were remove and changed. |

I've just got a new graphics card, so I can finally get it!!!
Just playing the demo, looks great, much better than Rome was, and that was possibly the best game I've ever played

little hint. when you get it...get the 1.2 patch immediately. it's huge, but...it makes the game so much better

oow finally found some guys who also love this gameB) I installed the new patch 2 weeks ago and use the Lands To Conquer mod...just a great strategy game
@addy: Im not so good at explaining stuff but it's basically a strategy game where you are the leader of a nation/region, and then you have to expand your borders by fighting/taking over cities but then again you also have to make sure that you dont go into bankrupcy and things like that
Dwight K. Schrute: 'I'm not a hero. Im just a mere defender of the office. You know who is a hero? Hiro from Heroes. That's a hero. And Bono'.

Its unlike any other game out there. It combines turn base strategy with the best real time battles, well ever!
You can have up to 10,000 guys on a battlefield, and the graphics are truly stunning.
It is a huge game, ridiculously addicting. If you get, say goodbye to your free time for about the next month.
Visit : <a href="https://www.totalwar.com/" t...alw... for more info.
Believe me, this game is incredible

what I most like about it is it's not a click-a-thon like Age of Empires or similar games.
it's tactics on the battlefield.
you can have fantastic heavy cavalry, pristine armour knights and all.
charge them head on into a lowly peasant spearmen unit and they'll all get butchered.
tactics, tactics...
And by the way, guys, check out the trailers for the 4 new campaigns that are coming in the "Kingdoms" expansion in the fall. looking very good.

wow that does look incredible
thanks for the explanations, both Justin and Crommy
i think i will buy this game very soon
EDIT: or will there be a new version soon?, just saw it was released in Nov 2006 i've just seen this advertised as a pre-order on play
https://www.play.c...sion+Pack)
i'm guessing that is an add-on to the game that you are all playing (the URL button wouldn't work that's why it's not an active link)

What is going on now is a expansion and you need the original M2TW to play the Kingdoms (this is the name of the expansion)
I suggest you first to go the youtube and watch some videos about the game! It's completely different of Age of Empires.
People you can find more about the new expansion here: https://www.totalw...eval2/1/4/
there are also the official trailer of the entire expansion but if go Britannia "folder" you can download britannia trailer (i've seen it, it's amazing) |

there's now also a trailer for the Teutonic campaign.
and yes, I am also using the Lands to Conquer mod.
the first time I loaded it I though "what the heck...no changes??"
then I realised there was a .bat file to start the game with the mod
they have really listened to all the modders when making the game.
Immediately upon release they published info on how to mod the game, and made it so that multiple mods could co-exist in one installation easily.

here's the readme.
https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showth...hp?t=96627
basically it's done by two Creative Assembly employees (one of whom was recently hired because of his work on mods), and makes the gameplay MUCH more balanced and fun.
provided you follow the house rules, that is:
https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showth...hp?t=77314
and as a bonus, here's a preview of what Lands to Conquer will add along with the expansion (when it comes out)
https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showth...p?t=102283
https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showth...p?t=104162
if you download it (reccomend it), as with any other mod, if you run the game using the normal .exe file, you'll be running the original game.
to run a mod, run the .bat file with that mod's name. no need to use an executable.
NEVER USE THE LAUNCHER. that thing causes huge problems.
enjoy

what I most love about this game is the attention to detail, and as proof, here are two segments from pre-battle speeches that I got recently from two of my generals:
one with the personality trait "drunkard"
"Give hell to those sausage eating, beer swelling germans...uhm....I wonder what kind of ale they've brought....uhhm...anyway"
and one that is a raving lunatic:
"They may have the moon people on their side, but we have lovely hats! that will protect us from their fearsome gaze!!"
