Hi everybody and Welcome, to my story.
I can finally make this historic serie with the most charismatics riders we ever had in Spain, Pedro Delgado and Miguel Induráin.
Seeing that, probably some of the younger ones, can not understand why, that the figure of Pedro Delgado give the feeling of being magnified, it is necessary to explain what it meant in the 80s and 90s Perico Delgado, who since 1995 is commentator TVE officer for Tour and Vuelta.
Pedro Delgado was the quintessential idol. Perico Delgado became a social phenomenon capable of paralyzing an entire country in summer, can absolutely loaded all summer afternoon naps ... when there was no certainty that was not going to screw up.
This has nothing to do with what happened in the 90s, when people stayed to see Indurain crush rivals, knowing all that Indurain was infallible. Everybody like the power and enjoyed with Induráin, which was totally alien to us at that time. Knowing that a Spanish team was the best at something, it was Spanish, and it did not fail, and always won.
Pedro Delgado was not so.He never won a race calmly and end days ... everything in him was extrem, with suspense, always tangled around in bizarre situations ... and this was well when was the favorite, it seemed he would win and in the end did not... and failed.. Perico was "The Madman of the Pyrenees"
So here start my story in January of 1991 with the twoo leaders!Take a look
