My motivation
Saqax
Hi, everyone. The cycling season began in January and recently some of the best riders in the world rode from Paris to Nice. This gave me a motivation to start playing PCM again. Unfortunally this motiv disappeared with Paris-Nice.
My point is: I wanna start playing again but i'm missing some kind of a motivation. Yesterday I started a carreer with the Silence-Lotto team but it been kinda boring.....
Can someone give me an idea for a new "motivation factor"?

I must say i struggle at times to play for long periods, so try playing a few stages at a time, and then leaving it and coming back the next day.

Also i kind of like to build up my own team from scratch, so i take over an ok continental team, or a rubbish pro tour one, and try to keep them up, or promote them by straight away sacking some of the rubbish riders and hiring some good young riders with potential.

It's hard - about 80% of careers will finish before February.

It's about keeping trying with new things, when suddenly it all clicks, and you find a set up you like

Once you get to about June, the transfers are close enough that you'll continue playing - so just get to June Wink

Yeah, too options, one, play classics and individual stage races, so you can get back in the "mood." Also, play with a Contiental Team, it is harder, more enjoyable (at least to me Pfft)

I've just, for the first time, reached May in a played career(I've simmed a few careers further before). I'm playing with Vina Magna(pcm06, PPDB unlimited) and it's the first career I'm really enjoyingGrin
Now I've reached this far, I've got the motivation to continue. I actually wanted to stop the career in mid March because I wasn't doing well at all(on extreme). I'm 4th in the conti ranking atm and things are looking goodWink

Yeah, continental games are better for a few reasons

1. Harder - less riders, and not as good ones make it a harder to win
2. Less races - you are not guarenteed to get into every race
3.Fight to get promoted - Every race counts on a level not seen when you play in the ProTour.

What I do is start with finding the "optimal" difficulty level. My motivations drops both when I win too much and when I lose too much. Also, I enjoy having some sort of "middle team" - a team which isn't too good, but isn't too bad either - and a team which I can "build on", meaning that there's room for some good signings / scoutings.

My last career is with High Road i almost quit after Paris-Nice when Kirchen did nothing ...and i had trained him for that Race but he win Vuelta a Pais Vasco and my mood is suddenly on the good track Paris-Roubaix to play with Big George in the best condition ever 99 pts :lol::lol:

Finding the right difficulty is the hard part, because hard mode is imo too easy, whilst extreme is sometimes just extremely unfair (It has nothing to do with difficulty if you're riders keep crashing or getting tired from doing nothing)

Well, I've gone long ways with several careers, but I've always gone with continental teams.

I finally got fed up with the bug that makes you unable to go to the calendar in march with continental teams (apparently only in the states) so I went with a pro-team (Credit Agricolae).

I'm having more fun with this career than any of the others. Being able to do more than just try to hang on to a top 15 in pro-tour races is enjoyable as a change of pace, and racing as a favorite in many of the smaller races is also a fun change of pace.

If it's only in the states, there's only one explanation: it's some random stress with the .NET framework you're using (which, I'm assuming, is the american version)

Thanks for all these great suggestions. I'm gonna play my season with the Silence team to the end, and if i still haven't found any motivation i think that I'm going to try the old Telekom, Team High Road or a continental team.
You're welcome to keep posting more suggestions

I'd also suggest that you can simulate past a lot if you're lacking motivation - just play the important races Wink

You could start over and begin a new game. Look at some of the suggestions from above. Another way i found out I get motivated is to watch cycling on telly. Unfortunally there's not cycling on telly everyday but you could watch the Milano - San Remo tomorrow if you have the chance to do that. If you want to get rid of you fatigue problem you could use an editor to erase your riders fatigue (I see that as cheating but that's different from person to person) If you start over i suggest you read the guide on how to keep you riders fatigue low.
