Another Poll (CrueTrue will be thrilled) -
Who do you think is the greatest 3+ Tour de France winner of all time?
I vote Eddy, but I expect a high amount of Lance and Lemond votes. |

I vote for none, as there is no comparison between any of them, needless to say i have utter respect for those people who do the tour de france, (with or without external aid) as it is the hardest, most grueling sporting event in the world in my opinion. To be able to say you conquered that alone, and beat 160+ other men with the same intention is something that is above human, and something that i do not feel i can judge.

That is a legitimate idea, but I thought it would be interesting to see who people thought was the greatest Tour champion of all time (it has to be one of the eight). |

Lance is at the moment tied for first with five votes, I'm not happy about that, as feel that his streamlined profile, primarily in the vicinity of his seat, gave him an unfair advantage. |

Yeah, that one year he won the Overall, Mountain, and Sprinter's jersey, and would have won the Best Young Rider if it had existed. That is just domination |

Armstrong never dominated at the level that Eddy did, however, Armstrong did have very stiff competition in the form of Ullrich and Basso (both dopers, however Armstrong's streamlined profile may have assisted him as well). |

The rider who you think was the most proficent Tour de France rider.
Note: Take into account that this only includes the Tour, so do not dock Armstrong because he raely rode anything else. |

I just noticed MortChill, that you said that Lance only won one more, when he won two more. |

Given the number of stages he won and the number of distinctive jerseys he brang to Paris, Eddy Merckx is definitely the greatest of that list, although like most of his list fellows he didn't fail to using forbidden stuff...

He had a testicle removed during his bout with cancer.
The hormonal difference this made could have actually contributed to his victories, but a friend of mine attributes his victories to the "streamlined profile" it made. |

Eddy may have been on the dope, but that was not as effective as the drugs they use now, and I believe that it was less of an advantage. So he still gets my vote for best rider, if not cleanest. |
