Qualifier
Well theres 25 teams, 24 teams would be perfect but not 25, so ill be doing a 3 way qualifier with 3 of the weaker teams to decide who gets the final two spots.
Molteni bring Bongiorno, Van Heeswjk and Cappelle. Bongiorno is great with 80 sprint but Van Heeswijk is aged and not good any more and Cappelle... well he cant even sprint. Why Galdos wasnt chosen, I dont know.
Then theres Gatorade. Anastapoulos, Rollin and Flickinger - nothing special, the greek is the best and he only has 74 sprint.
The likely favourites of the Qualifier is Procycling, with Swift, Russ Downing and Gaywood.
A horrible start came for Molteni, as with Cappelle so eager to begin, the other 2 lost his wheel. Bongirono got back on but Van Heeswijk is a little way back. As predicted though Cappelle leaves them a long way back anyway as Gaywood leads at the first switch.
Swift keeps the momentum going for Procycling as Bongiorno fails to close the gap left by Cappelle for Molteni
Downing seals the win with Flickinger taking 2nd, Molteni are eliminated.
Heat 1
Accumalux, American Suzuki and British Airways.
Chris Hoy gave British Airways a strong lead as he easily beat the two weaker components of the other teams, Sijmens and De Ketele.
Manan kep them in the front as Freire pulled away from Bettini
And Samai secured the win, with Hunter holding off Borghesi. American Suzuki are out!
Heat 2
A very tight heat as Perez Arrieta gives Champion an early lead over Credit Lyonnais and Erste
Disaster struck for Credit Lyonnais though as Bozic completely failed to get going (I have no idea why), forcing Docker to go early. Amazingly, theyre still in contention though as Casper puts Champion in a strong position while Cooke appears to struggle.
Loddo dramatically picked up the pace for Erste though and its all level as the line close in
Loddo wins it, Docker is 2nd, Vanderaerden just cant yet compete with the stronger sprinters and Champion goes out.
Heat 3
Why Eurosport brought Kessler here, I dont know - Luke Roberts would have been a much better choice, but with Kessler Eurosport are the definate underdogs against Festina and Fed-Ex.
Former Discovery teammates Hushovd and Davis go head to head in the first leg and Hushovd is clearly the stronger while Reynes keeps Eurosport close.
Kessler was so slow that Cavendish actually left him behind - despite still following him, keeping them in the hunt as Festina's weakest link Bileka comfortably maintains the lead.
Bonsergent completes the victory while Siedler, with the advantage of sprinting half the distance of Cavendish, is able to secure 2nd thus eliminating Eurosport.
Heat 4
With Gatorade having the 3 weakest sprinters in this heat, there should be no contest - although they keep close to France Televisions to start with.
LA/MSS/Pearl Jam are well placed and Chavanel leads them to victory, holding off the charge from Tyler Farrar. Gatorade are eliminated
Heat 5
Heat 6
Nintendo, Nippo, NVidia
Heat 7
Philips, Procycling, Slipstream
Heat 8
Sony Ericsson, White Bear Steyr, Wiggle
