Hand of God wins La Liga? - no, but it almost did
Addy291
i am an avid supporter of Barca, due to my grandma and grandad living in that area since i was 4, and in the match against Espanyol which it is currently half-time, the Argentinian wonderkid, Lionel Messi has scored a contreversial goal.

i am sure those of you who follow football, remember Messi's Maradona goal a few months ago against Getafe, where he ran with the ball from within his own half, to score a cracker, well now he has scored Maradona's other famous goal 'the Hand of God'

this is how it stood at the top of La Liga before the start of tonight's games
1. Real Madrid 72
2. Barcelona 72
3. Sevilla 70

but as it stands now, Real madrid are losing to Zaragoza 1-0, Sevilla are drawing 0-0 to Mallorca and at half-time Barca are drawing 1-1 with their local rivals Espanyol.

so if the scores stay the same then after tonight, the top will look like this.
1. Barcelona 73
2. Real Madrid 72
3. Sevilla 71

now there is 1 game left for each team
Barcelona have Gimnastic
Real Madrid have Mallorca
and Sevilla have Villareal

the outcome is yet to be decided, but has a Hand of God won La Liga for Barcelona????
what do others think about Messi now????
what should be done about it????

Messi is the next Maradona, excpet without all the drugs, and the Hand of...no wait, too lateGrin Anyway, di you see that wonder goal he scored recently. When they ran it next to Maradonas against england, it was actually the same. He could become the greatest footballer in the world, even better than Maradona.

As to what should be done. Well remember the World Cup with Maradona. Nothing happened, England got knocked out, and it should stay the same. That's why it's a controversial game, the officials on the pitch are the only ones who make the decisions.

Poor season by Barca anyway. I really like them, there my favourite team after West Ham, but they sort of relied on Eto'o too much, he scored goals when they were playing bad, and they've done that a lot recently

yes it was a pretty bad season and yes we do rely on Eto'o a bit but he scores the goals, it was a shame that he got injured for 2 months halfway through the season

and Messi is shaping up to be one of the greats, i hope he doesn't turn out exactly like Maradonna (for obvious reasonsWink) and i hope nothing gets done about the incident, but then again i'm a bit biased reallyPfft

and yes i saw his wonder goal, absolutley amazing!!!!!!!!

2-1 Lionel Messi scores his second of the game, slotting it in the bottom left corner

Zaragoza 1- Real madrid 1, Ruud van Nistelrooy scores a cracker into the top corner

it's still looking good for Barca but Real are getting a bit close now

30mins left in all 3 games

Zaragoza 2 - Real Madrid 1, great work by Aimar, with Diego Milito finishing it nicely, the Madrid fans and players aren't taking it well, Casillas is just laid on the floor and has been for quite a while (not injured, just in disbelief/sadness)

EDIT: neither is the boss, Fabio Capello, Robinho is straight off and Juan Antonio Reyes is on, to try and save the match for Real

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Full-time scores
Espanyol 2 - Barcelona 2 - Tamudo scores with 1 minute left in normal play (oh, but that's ok, at least Real lost)

Zaragoza 2 - Real Madrid 2 - AngryAngryAngryAngryAngryRuud van Nistelrooy does it again and scores with 1 minute left of normal play

and the Sevilla game, who caresPfft

so things stay the same for the top 2 adding one point to their respective totals, and so it goes to the last game of the season the decide who gets the trophy, will it be Real, Barca or Sevilla??? (probably not sevillaWink)

(i am so pissed off right now, Barca's defence is so crap it is unbelievable, we have Puyol, but that's it, Van Bronkhorst is a donkey, Thuram is an old moose, and Zambrotta is a walrus with good stamina, not to mention the pretty boy in goalPfft, you just don't concede with 1 minute left if you are supposed to be a top team, there is talk of Henry coming, he can go to AC for all i care, we need some defenders, we have Eto'o, Messi, and Ronnie to score the goals, and the midfield (plus i don't like Henry in general))

I'm afraid Barca's tactics are just attack and let the defence do the best they can - the defence get really isolated, plus they aren't that good - Barca need somebody big, tall and strong

Well if Messi did cheat, then you kinda deserve it.

I do slightly prefer Real but as its football I dont really care who wins Wink

Addy291
yes i supposed we got our just rewards for Messi's hand of god, but it is really down to what Crommy said, we badly need to get some good defenders if we are to challenge in Europe and Spain, as i doubt we will stop attacking so much

hopefully a miracle will happen next week against Nastic

Boasson Hagen Jr
To cheat like messi did is almost on the same line as doping , or even worse if you think how much money its worth!

I guess for once the transfer rumours are justified.
Ustari in goal would be a blessing for Barça's team. that is, if he can stand the pressure.
the mental approach of the players isn't really handled well at all at either Real or Barça, so he could have some problems.

Of course, that's assuming the transfer doesn't fall through. if it does...you are in deep crap, my friend. Valdés inspires no confidence AT ALL.

As for having Eto'o, it's pretty much written in stone he'll leave. and even if he wanted to stay, Rijkaard would be a fool to keep him after what he's done to the locker room.

the way I see it, the problem isn't just in goal. it's in the engine room.

I happen to think a defensive midfielder is THE most important part of any team. and Barça can't cut it in that department.

Deco is unbelievable in how well he defends. most defensive midfielders only dream of doing it that well, so him being also such a gifted flair offensive player is nothing short of amazing.

Xavi and Iniesta's build-up play are...well....words won't describe it.

but the defensive end? it can't be little Deco plus either the ailing Marquez (who is good, but severely off form) or Edmilson.... I mean...edmilson is just...edmilson!!!

he's the only defensive midfielder who I've ever seen leave his position to go tackle a full-back 30 metres away.

It's hard to find a player for that position for the spanish league's style of play AND who is good enough for Barça. few are around. good luck finding one.

Andrade is pretty much certain to be going there, and Daniel Alves is one whom Barça have been sniffing.

they're both excellent players who would immensely improve the back line. But I just don't see Barça getting Alves.

there will be quite the reshuffle of the squad this summer, so it's shaping up to be quite an off-season Smile

oh and by the way. Sevilla's position really shows they can do business (well...not Fabiano, but there are exceptions to everything).

that Kanouté was always a massively underrated player.

whoever played alongside him would always get so many more goals due to his movement passing skills and above all, VISION, and being one of the more unselfish players in the game.

at the start of this season he said he was going to play more to himself. I rued that, thinking he was going to ruin what he was best at.

well...silly me. instead of giving away goals, he's chipping them in. top scorer.

not bad for a player half the world didn't know B)

yes i agree, Ustari in goal should be great (if it works out)

as you say Deco Xavi Iniesta are awesome but Marquez and Edmilson are a couple of the worst defensive players i have seen at a top club, they just want to attack, and centre back's/defensive midfielders should want to defend

and although Alves would be a good signing i really don't want him at Barca i just hate the way he plays.

and call me stupid (couldn't think of the right wordPfft), but i really have high hopes that Eto'o will saty, he is my favourite Barca player and if he goes, then i will be very dissapointed, but then that's football.

and on Kanoute, he has had a dream of a season, best striker in La Liga this season, i doubted him too, but he showed usPfft

not really to do with 'the hand of god' but still with Barca;

there are reports from Barcelona football club, that they have agreed terms with Henry on a 3 year deal, but still have to agree with Arsenal for them to let him go

the possiblities considering payment are
- 25 million euros
- 12 million euros then installments
- straight swap, Henry for Eto'o

i really hope the latter won't happen, and i don't think it will happen as Eto'o has said he will definatley be at Barca next season and that if Henry comes he would help him settle in and hope to establish a good partneship

so it's a case of Wenger asking Henry if he wants to leave, if he says yes then they will agree one of them payment choices, if he says no then no deal.

just to keep you informedWink

fantastic, no doubt, but without Xavi and Deco in midfield they are nothing.

so Barça's goal HAS to be to strengthen the midfield, since Iniesta is the only adequate cover, and the defensive side of the midfield needs some steel too.

BTW Deco is going to move to another club. That's what he told the sporting director some months ago. So sad that he is moving. So yes Barca really needs to strenghten their midfield a lot. And they need some more depth in the squad. Gudjohnson isn't good enough for that team.

Frown huh??

just two weeks ago he was back home(here) for a national team game and told the local media the only way he'd consider leaving Barça would be to finish his career at Porto...

Hm funny with all the rumours Grin
Hehe haven't you heard that C. Ronaldo is trying to persuade Deco into a Man Utd move ??

We just have to wait and see what he is going to do??
But I know that he has told Txiki Beguiristain (Sporting Director) that he wants to move this summer. He announced it in February or March month.
But of course he could have changed it. Smile
