Fun Teams for Career Mode
geisterhome
I'm having a hard time this year to decide which team to use in Career Mode. Which teams have been fun for you guys?

I am using a Custom one whose sponsor is McDonald's (I use my Healthy Edition McDonald's shirt) and my leaders are Froome, Van Garderen and Porte. I also took some Sky riders as Viviani, Thomas or Kennaugh. I also signed Arredondo, Fränk, Vandenbergh, Matthews, the Yates and I have a very good team Grin (I reached April, I think it's a record Grin )

Wow! My best team? Gesink, Fuglsang, Kreuziger, Szmyd, Karpets and some young riders
This didn't happen with PCM 15 Pfft

I choose Astana, team have the capability to win everything except cobblestones.

Nibali does Giro-Tour
Aru does Giro
Landa does Vuelta
Fugly does Tour

Wink

As sprinter I signed Hofland which had 80 SP.

Orica Greenedge and MTN are quite cool teams to play with. Neither are super overpowered as they lack riders in certain areas, but are quite strong in others. In Orica's case you would have Matthews, Impey and Albasini who are all good over the hills and have a decent enough sprint so you can win races with different obstacles in it. Ewan and Blythe are decent for flat sprints and Howard gets close. Yates, Yates, Weening and Chaves are not great, but can do something (leading Catalunya with Chaves now) and Gerro is pure class, al though he'll mnost likely start to decline very, very soon.

If you want CT, I'd recommend Adria Mobil.

I've had some very good experiences with PCT teams who are certain to get a wildcard for a GT. I've played with Bardiani (2013), Bretagne (2014) and Caja Rural (2015).

Wow many replies already!

For me it has to be a real life team.
Also it should be one with, rather two than only one Podium contender for at least the Giro or Vuelta.
Been considering Astana, Tinkoff, Moviestar or Sky but they seem overpowering in some areas..
Other than those most teams have riders with a 77-79 Mountain rating- could I win the Giro or Vuelta with somebody like Mollema, Spilak, Keldermann, Pozzovivo, Talansky etc...?

If you are lucky with developments one, or both Yates guys can reach 79/80MO at the time of the Vuelta. With good season planning I'm sure they can at least podium there, if not win it, and if you sign Power as a stagiare he could be a valuable domestique. Other GTs would be hard to get any result, but Matthews can go for stage wins and perhaps the green jersey at Le Tour.

Haven't had a lot of luck in my career yet, Meyer lost 4th GC in TDU due to a fall, Adam Yates got 6th at the Tirreno, Weening 7th at Paris - Nice and the highlight Keukeleire 5th at Milan - San Remo, Matthews 7th. So you'd have a lot of riders covering all disciplines, just not top-class riders.

Origa is for sure a funny team to play with.
Just finished the Giro and in a pretty weak peloton I managed to get Adam Yates on the podium in 3rd place although he finished over 7 minutes after Nibali who won.

I'm having fun with a BMC career where i moved Tejay to Saxo Bank and Sagan to BMC and then my leading riders are Sagan, Gilbert and Van Avermaat

Also sometimes doing just a non edited Omega Pharma Quick Step cause it's the team i support IRL cause of Brian Holm :-)

I'm also playing as Orica, and it's loads of fun. Just won Milano San-Remo with Albasini due to a +5 day and a great attack. Otherwise a couple of top ten results in the smaller tours, and a lot of breakaway riders. It's funnier to play aggressively rather than passively in my opinion. Would recommend them Smile

Going with a PCT, is it certain that a team like MTN, Bora or Europecar will get Wildcards for the Giro or Vuelta if they just apply?

Pretty much it is, just get a couple of good results in the early races.

In my opinion Bora, Bardiani, FDJ and Lotto-Soudal are teams that are challenging and a lot of fun to play for long lasting career modes, especially if you keep their focus.
Movistar is nice for short term glory...
For CT level it´s Adria Mobil for life
...or a Scandinavian team like Joker, which you can build up well

Custom teams for me are only fun on CT-level, it´s too easy to do overpowered custum teams on higher level. You can fill in regions which are left out by the PCM.Daily DB, like doing a San Luis/Funvic hybrid of brasilian and argentinian riders or something like that. But it´s always harder to keep the joy up with custom teams, so I would refer to either realism or a clear nation focus to have something you identify with...

I narrowed it down to Orica, BMC or Trek now.

A lot has bee said about Orica, but does anybody have an opinion about the other two teams?

BMC would all be about Van Garderen, Gilbert and Van Avermaet. They don't have any good sprinters though.

Trek has Mollema, Cancellara und Nizollo. They don't have a top rider for the hilly classics and do you think Mollema is good enough to win a Grand Tour (Giro/Vuelta)?

i create my own team aswell and always try to get quintana in my team but always despite my form and being the top climber and top favorite for the tour Froome always gets to beat me some how when i try to attack he just sits still and rides to me with out attacking -,-

Mollema wouldn't win a GT unless there was a really weak startlist to the Giro or Vuelta. It is possible though, as I've seen Konig win the Vuelta as no other big climbers started.

I'd recommend Orica though. Decent in all departments, especially good on the hills. In my save Adam Yates is at 79 mountain ahead of the Giro, so if you're lucky you could get a top-5 in a GT with one of the Yates brothers.

I got the same problem , not only in PCM even in FM and FIFA I have a hard team getting a fun career started Pfft

When it comes to FM I like playing a team with some Swedish players in it when it comes to PCM it gets a bit harder (or should I say easier), not that many teams to choose between Pfft But those two teams (Cofidis & Giant) don´t have a really good/decent GC rider that I want in a team.

The key I find to starting a good career is you have to have an interest in the riders and feel like you have a connection with them I find it's quite good to go on the actual team websites and read about some riders see what their goals are/ plans in the future etc.... / If you don't fancy that go with something you know e.g. my Canadian team in MG means I usually know most Canadian riders so I usually start with Kelly Benefit/ Smartshop then being English I also know most of the riders from Raleigh/JLT. I find it works for me.

for PT it more the races you want to win and favourite riders then just getting to grew to enjoy the team as you go does take time though.
