Never seen a thread about people's favorite races, so why not make one. It is thought of a thread were people can rank and explain (or just rank) the races they like the most and debate, but if people rather just wanna rank them and make a bracket (thinking the 8 most popular will advance to knockout), Im all in for that as well! I'll start.
1. Tour de France
Its more often than not NOT the best race (not even of the GT's), but the hype and media coverage is unlike every other. The first race I ever watched and gets me going every year - wouldnt live without this one.
2. Giro D' Italia
Tough one between this and the Vuelta since the 2012 and 2014 editions of the Vuelta have been incredible, but coupled with the Giros high standards and it being the first GT of the year, I cant rank the Vuelta higher.
3. Vuelta á Espana
Really wanted to put it above the Giro, but meh. Been in Spain many times and it hurts me to put this one the lowest of the GTs, but I still love you. Rodriguez, Valverde and Contador going at it is enough for me.
4. Vuelta a Pais Vasco
Loooove this race. All my heroes have dominated this race (Valverde, Sanchez, Contador, Quintana, Rodriguez). Stunning nature and spicy little climbs - just an overall good race.
5. Tour des Flandres
Im not a classics guy, but I still get up for Flanders and Roubaix every year despite really rooting for anybody in this terrain. I have a hard time separating the two, but I like this race slightly more.
6. Paris - Roubaix
Beatiful race. I didnt like this year's edition, but generally a frickin good race. Looking forward to see who will be the next dominators.
7. Criterium du Dauphine
Underrated race, always termed mini-Tour de France or just pure training ahead. Its much more than that and more often than not, we get some very solid racing in from many of the Tour-contenders - best example was last year.
8. Tirreno - Adriatico
Since the best riders GT-riders have chosen T-A the last couple of years, my vote goes here. This edition was dull despite Nairo winning it (apart from the mountain stage), but generally, the organizers find some spicy climbs to mix it up a bit which I like.
9. Il Lombardia
Didnt know wheter to put L-B-L or Lombardia here, but I dont enjoy the Ardenenes that much anymore (how have they managed to be so boring the last couple 5-6 years..)
and Lombardia always tends to deliver for me and is actually much more - generally - exciting to me than the World Championships RR.
10. Vuelta a Burgos
Discovered this beauty in 2011 when Landa won on Lagunas de Neila and have watched it since (at least the Lagunas-stage). Quintana have won the 2 last editions which probably also have knocked it up a few spots. |

Ronde Van Vlaanderen, just above Paris-Roubaix for me.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Giro
It's a GT that's not a Tour, so it's good by default. also recently happend so that might influence it.
San Sebastian
Luis Leon wins this race
Olympia's Tour
actually went to this race twice (in 2014 and 2009).
Vuelta
It's a GT that's not a Tour, so it's good by default. didn't happen recently so it's lower than the Giro
the rest is below the threshold to be considered good

1.) Giro d'Italia
Zoncolan, Mortirolo, Stelvio, Gavia, Agnello... the pink race is just my favourite. Beautiful scenery, beautiful stages, beautiful maillots. Everything is just magical.
2.) Tour de France
Well, the legendary race. There's so much hype around this race every year, and it's the opportunity to watch the fight between the best riders to become part of the history.
3.) Ronde van Vlaanderen
I just love the cobbled hills of De Ronde. Roubaix is maybe the cobbled race par excellence, but the Tour of Flanders just fits my taste better.
4.) Paris - Roubaix
Crashes, punctures, dust, true strenght. This race is absolutely epic. And the best of all is that the big prize to the winner is an even bigger cobblestone piece!
5.) Milano - Sanremo
I love this race. I would make it even longer. I love to see the exhausted riders going full gas to the entrance of the Poggio, and then throwing themselves downhill to reach the finish line. For me, Le Manie shoud be a must have every year.
6.) World Championships
A quite different race, with one of the best prices of all them: the rainbow jersey to the winner. Every year I wait anxiously for the World Championships to take place. They are so exciting!
7.) Vuelta a España
The third of the GTs is the less special for me, even though I'm Spanish. I think they should make more "Giro-like" stages, and less "YouTube-like" stages. Still, a 3 weeks race with good riders is enough to be Top 10.
8.) Liège - Bastogne - Liège
Last years may have been a little bit boring in the Ardennes; but Liège is a race I really like. La Redoute, La Roce, Saint-Nicolas and Ans are well-known names in the peloton.
9.) Strade Bianche
Maybe it's not a big and important race yet, but it has everything it should have to match the five monuments. The final kilometer is spectacular, as well as the white roads. I love this race!
10.) Olympic Games
Well, it's similar to the World Championships, but with the downside of being held only once every four years. That also makes a victory here even more special.

1. Tour De France
The first race i watched, and the only one i watch for a before i got into cycling. Best starting lineup. Great memories, especially from 2011.
2. Ronde Van Vlaanderen
Always a lot of action, even though it sometimes is påredictable. I used to rate PR over it, but changed my mind this year.
3. Paris Roubaix
The most iconic classic. Quite unique in cycling. It was my favourite race, but the last two editions was a little dissapointing.
4. Vuelta Espana
Always great fun to watch. The 2012 edition was one the alltime best grand tour in my opinion.
5: Omloop het Niewsblad.
Always been spesial for me because it opens the classic season.
6 Milano San Remo
It might be boring for 200 k, but i always get super exited in the finish(almost died last year.
7 Eneco Tour
The most versatile race of the year. Always action with sprinting, climbing, TT and cobbles.
8 Giro d' Italia
I don't know why it comes this low on my list, but i think it's just because i was very dissapointed with the fact that Contador won and Astana domininated, when they in my opinion should be thrown out.
9 WC
Always new routes and it's special with the rainbow yersey.
10 Amstel Gold Race
Even though i liked the old route better than the present i still love it when Gilbert attacks up the Cauberg. One of mye favourite moments of the year. |

1. Tour de France
First of all it's the race that got me into cycling the first place, i remember the fights between Zabel, McEwan and Hushovd in the sprints and Armstrong and Ullrich on the climbs so it will forever be my favorite race.
2. Paris Roubaix
Probably the most entertaining race on earth.
3. Giro d'Italia
I always enjoyed Italian riders so of course the Giro is something special.
4. Ronde Van Vlaanderen
In my opinion the classic race which really prove who the best classics rider is, Roubaix is more luck.
5: Vuelta Espana
Probably the most interesting fight by the GC's of the year, usually without the dominant riders like Froome makes it really fun.
6: Tour down under
Not the most entertaining race, but a nice start to the cycling season for me.
7. Liege bastogne Liege
I never really been that into the Ardennes classic but it's still a pretty fun race to watch.
8: Le Fleche Wallone
Same as i wrote above.
9: Amgen Tour of California
For some reason i really enjoyed watching this, allot of Colombian riders i enjoy watching and the heat tend to make it special, at least during the previous editions.
10. World championships
Probably the most prestigous race to me but it all depends allot on the course, i prefer it a bit hilly.
Even though i enjoy smaller continental races there is nothing like GT's and the bigger classics. A few honorable mentions would be Criterium International, Paris Nice, Paris - Tours, Strade Bianche and all of the belgium spring classics.

1. Ronde Van Vlaanderen
Love belgium racing and this is it at its finest
2. Strade Bianche
Close to top spot, every year I love it a bit more
3. Tour
Ain't no race like le Tour, so big, so stellar. I can complain about it for the rest of the year, once it's here, it's got me for three weeks
4. Paris-Roubaix
Hell of the North, the epitome of prof road racing. Hype only comparable to Tour.
5. Giro (Second Grand Tour)
Depends on which edition has been better in the previous ~2-3 years. Vuelta had 2012 and 2014, Giro's 2015 was a one in a kind GT though, so I'd go with Giro here for now. Plus, it just happened and that's always a plus.
6. Omloop
Season opener of class, great racing of other cobbled experts
7. Tro Bro Leon
French Strade Bianche with the ribinous, beautiful race.
8. Pais Vasco
Basque stage race glory, always delivers. Packed in between Ronde and Roubaix and you have the best single week of racing.
9. Vuelta (Third Grand Tour)
Really, right now it'd be Vuelta but hey, could be Giro at the end of the year... Maybe the worst time to ask me in regard to Vuelta, right after amazing Giro and ahead of amazing Tour. Weeks after Vuelta, it could be up to fifth place realy.
10. Il Lombardia
Last race of the season for me, always nice to follow. Last few editions have been entertaining but it needs to step up its game in the future if I want to keep it in there. The dream race of my teenage years.
Stage races like Eneco, Criterum, T-A and P-N are always eager to prove their worth and would be well deserved of a Top 5-10 spot. Single editions like Criterium 2014 or Eneco in two past years could be listed when it comes to ranking best single editions.
World Championships have the most beautiful jersey as a reward but the racing is often stale and almost boring compared to its hype. Similiarly, La Doynne was once my favourite race but the recent editions have turned it into a love-hate thingy for me. Österreich Rundfahrt as my hometour has some amazing climbs but coverage isn't good enough for me. Some Cyclo-Cross races could be mentioned too, like Hoogerheide. Lastly, the olympic road race always gives you great racing in very unusual conditions (small teams) but the wait of 4 years doesn't warrant a Top 10, a deluxe menu you eat too rarely.
"It’s a little bit scary when Contador attacks." - Tommy V

Is the consensus to make it PCMdaily's favorite race alá the voting going on for the favorite cyclist? I would gladly count the votes. |

I sense a few hipster answers on this lists by not including Tour de France but even with that we all know Tour de France would've won don't we? Could be interesting seeing who comes in at second or third though.
