Sponsors
Aegon
Lavazza
Co-Sponsors
Stevens Bikes
Unilever
Trigema
The team istelf goes into the 4th season (2012/13 PCT, 2014 PT). The name though has changed and it will be known as Aegon - Lavazza in 2015. A Dutch-Italian team focussed on European riders mainly from the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and Belgium.
As in the previous 3 seasons the team is using Stevens bikes and shirts by Trigema. This shows that there is still a bit of German sponsoring left in our team.

Great HQ, i like all that history in one place, not like mine, where i am yet to catch up even with 2013 results.
Those beer jersey ladies. RIP
Good luck in 2015, quite crazy that we will not race in same division next year, i still feel a bit embarrased with "grabbing" the empty spot in PT. I will make for it with cheering for Aegon-Lavazza and hoping for your quick ro turn.

Thanks to all of you.
I wasn`t aware that cutting Rothaus would be such a huge thing for you. Would have considered it a bit longer then I guess. That said, losing out on all those German talents I decided to go a bit into a different direction.
@Avin: Indeed. Who would have thought this about 6-9 months ago.
You were afraid of relegation and I was like 10th in PT. I am not that unhappy to see you in a higher division to be honest. One big opponent less for the promotion spots. Nice word play there.

Lars Boom - The constant in the team
Since the debut season 2012 the team had lots of scorers. Most of those were for the short term and are gone already. But there is one big name, that was part of the team since the very first day: Lars Boom.
The Dutch is a great alrounder having his biggest strength in the fight against the clock but he is also a good puncheur and cobbler making him a dangerous rider for many races.
Being on the free agent market before the 2012 season, he was one of our big transfer targets and it worked out well as the past has shown. Already in his first year for the team he proved to be a vital part delivering our biggest results. Stage wins in Deutschland, De Panne and Algarve also gave him several good GC positions. But the clear highlight was his win in the E3 Prijs against a lot of stronger cobblers.
Boom can`t believe his coup in the 2012 E3 Prijs winning the sprint of 5
Later in the same season he crowned a great year with one of the biggest results, taking the win in the World Championship Road Race. While the team in general was pretty average in its debut year, Lars Boom was excellent and the clear leader of the team.

2013 saw some changes. While the two leaders Boom and Vantomme stayed with the team, the depth improved with the addition of Bellis and Geschke. More point scorers might take the pressure on the individuals a bit. While the other three all showed some great form over the season with in especially Vantomme improving a lot, Boom once more had a very solid season being a big part of our promotion run in that season. While he was not able to be as successful as in the previous season, you clearly can`t call it the curse of the rainbow jersey. Winning one individual stage in Thuringen alongside the TTT in the same race, his win count was below 2012. But the GC positions were just as good with several podium results in stage races. His favourite race, the E3 Prijs was once more a nice showing by him. While not being able to make it into the first group, he still sprinted to 4th just 36s behind the winner. You clearly can`t win a race year for year but being in the top5 twice without being a very big favourite is surely a nice thing.
Last Boom wins the sprint for 4th in the E3 Prijs, 2013
2014 was the next episode of his Rothaus leadership. It was the Pro Tour debut of the team and with the transfers of all team leaders but Lars Boom, he once again got a new team next to him. His new scorer partners were expected to be Luis Leon Sanchez, Martijn Keizer and Sep Vanmarcke with more riders to add the needed depth. Being in the PT clearly was difficult for Boom as the big advantage of selecting perfect races only was almost impossible. So he also had to lead on a terrain, that is not suited to 100% such as Tirreno Adriatico with lots of hills. Also the competition in the cobbled races was too much for him plus he had to do helper tasks in those races now. This led to some good top20 results but he was far from getting the top results of the previous two years in PCT. With a 2nd in the prologue in Tirreno he came the closest to a stage win in 2014. It took almost the whole season until his biggest goal was raced: The Tour of Northern Europe. Probably the most perfect race for an alrounder like him. Hills, cobbles and time trials. Not being the best in any category, he was able to avoid big losses in any stage making him a big danger for the GC. And while he tried a lot to even win the GC, he had to admit that it was Cancellara to be a bit stronger after 8 days.
Lars Boom starting his podium performance in the 2014 ToNE with a 3rd on the 2nd stage
He ended the season with another World Champion win. This time the TTT race with the Netherlands. Unfortunately though the team lost the fight against relegation in the end and is starting in PCT again in 2015. So Lars Boom is back on his best scene it seems. And many are interested what he can show this time.

After a 0/5 PT debut, where our team was not able to fulfill the goals at all, we had the "easier" choice this year again to pick goals for the most suited races in the PCT.
As relegated team you are expected to fight for the promotion spots immediately again and so it`s not a very big surprise that our first goal is a top 5 Standing in the PCT. This really can`t be too surprising.
Then though we had a problem. Last year we picked most goals for Jonathan Bellis, just to trade him away in transfers. Not very smart. This was a warning for us and we decided to pick only races for riders, that are staying with us for sure. Well, I said this last year as well I think.
When now presenting the 4 remaining race goals, you will notice, that they might not be as ambitious as for other teams. But after a 0/5 year we thought to put the pressure from our riders and give them more probable goals. So despite the one needed Win goal, we only picked Top 5 goals and not even in HC races only. This might cost us a bit of the budget but in case we are successful, it will see us stronger in 2016. So it was a decision in the long term as also for the motivation of our team.
Unfortunately for our sponsors though, we weren`t able to give them one of our two most focussed countries due to those restrictions. There just weren`t the most suited races in Italy or the Netherlands, which is quite unlucky. As Aegon`s goal though was to extend their name to Europe, we tried to present them goals, they are still happy with. And it must be said, that we will still line up in the best possible squad in all Italian and Dutch races, too.
So our win goal might be a very rare goal but in the end not that surprising. With a TT strong team it was quite obvious to pick the win in the Duo Differdange. It might be a C1 only race, but it just suits too much. For this race, one time trialist is not enough. So many teams might struggle. With our existing squad though we think to have high chances to win the race.
As next races we checked through the HC bands and found a few races suiting a lot. First of those clearly is the Corsica International. The French 3-day stage race contains a short ITT and a mountain stage. A nice combination I guess. This is basically also the combination for the next races.
First the 1 of 2 decision. A top 5 in the Tour of Vancouver could mean another suited race. But depending on our transfers we decided to allow a 2nd chance and a more focussed country to eventually stay 100% European. It`s the top 5 goal in the Bayern Rundfahrt, a route that could see more than one suited rider in our squad.
Last but not least the no longer surprising combination of mountains and time trials: Top 5 in the C1 race Volta a Catalunya. Not only does this race have this combination, it was also one of our best results in last years PT campagne. As it is rated down to C1 this year, we decided to give it another try.
Win Duo DifferdangeC1 4 Top 5 Tour of Vancouver OR Bayern RundfahrtHC 4 Top 5 Corsica InternationalHC 4 Top 5 Volta a CatalunyaC1 3 Top 5 PCT Team Standings- 5
With those goals the management almost expects a 5/5 in 2015. That said after the recent experience, we are more carefully and announce anything less than 3/5 a huge disappointment, 3/5 an okay performance, 4/5 quite good and 5/5 the wished scenario.

Boooring.
Just kiding, what you say sounds reasonable and not surprising after 0/5 season in 2014. You should be able to fulfil these goals if everything goes solid for you during renewals and transfers, good luck with that!
I am surprised you have not choosen Monterrey TTT though...

I thought about it. But I think it clashes with Vancouver...very, very unlucky for me.
Plus check my 2014 TTT results. Some riders improved obviously, but is it enough for a TTT goal?

Win goal in a TT certainly gives much more safety in planning than in a road race, and the rest looks achievable as well.
I wouldn't be that worried about budget implications as I feel that might have been nerfed to a point where it doesn't really matter that much unless you find out afterwards you needed exactly those 50k or whatever.
Overall, looking good to smoothly duo into PT, you're in?
