Hello and welcome to the homepage of Team Colombia, the home of Colombian cycling. Founded in 2012, we are a UCI Professional Continental cycling team, which participates in UCI Continental and UCI World Tour races.
In our first year we managed to achieve 6 wins:

FABIO ANDRES DUARTE AREVALO
Fabio will be our leader in the mountains and our GC contender, he has been a pro since 2009 with teams such as Geox - TMC and Colombia Es Pasion - Cafè de Colombia. Therefore he has enough experience to challenge in the larger races, as Duarte is able to move clear on climbs, to edge a small group in a sprint, and even to handle himself in time trials: 2008 Under 23 World Champion has talent and quality to reach the top, and looks now more mature and serene than ever in his career.
LEONARDO FABIO DUQUE
Leonardo Duque is a veteran presence at Team Colombia, thanks to a wealth of experience gained in European cycling. Turned pro in 2004, with Jartazi-Granville jersey, he made his first experiences in all of the three Grand Tours while at Cofidis. In 2007, he achieved the biggest win in his career, a stage win at the Vuelta a España.
John Darwin Atapuma
Atapuma is another Colombian climbing talent, and this season we will aim to put him in a winning position so that he can show his true potential when racing against the big boys of world cycling.

The Team Colombia management would like to announce the Teams Roster for our next few races. We have been given the privilege of riding the Tour De Suisse, which is a World Tour race, in which we aim to be competitive throughout the race. We are also racing in the Philadelphia International Championship, which as our first race under our new management we aim to be aggressive and to light up the race. Then come the national championships which we aim to win, as all our riders enjoy racing and more specifically winning in their home regions.

As I have only been in charge for two races, I am happy with how the lads have ridden as they have shown me that they can work solidly as a unit when required to and that they have the capability to stay with the best in the world in the mountains.
I would just like to congratulate Fabio Duarte on a stunning ride in the Philadelphia International Championship as the course was not to his tastes but he buckled down and managed to get 14th in the sprint, which is currently our best result over the time I have been in charge.
Our aim for the next part of the season is to progress as a team and to compete with the best in the world as we know we are capable of. Fabio will be a key part of our aim to win races as well as Leonardo Duque and Darwin Atapuma, who in there own case would win some of the biggest races on the calendar.
Although our results at the Colombian nationals weren't what we were expecting, I think we can still be pleased with how we did, especially Esteban Chaves who as a young rider did a sterling job in securing 7th place and Robinson Chalapud providing the suprise of the day with an amazing 9th place and 3rd best of our riders in the race.
However we didn't have as high expectations in the time trial as we know that our significantly smaller budget doesn't even scratch the surface of the amount of money that World Tour teams are able to put into buying equipment and doing wind tunnel testing. I think that Fabio did a great ride finishing in 8th place as our guys don't even have a spare TT bike as we can't afford to supply them with one, however it was a shame that he was over 4 minutes down on the winner, but we know and he knows that he's never going to be a great time trailer.

Chaves still has a small gap. He starts his sprint early, as do the guys behind him. Nibali is still hanging in between the groups. Quintana accelerated from LLS and Betancur, and Kiserlovski and Cunego have attacked from the peloton as well.
Chaves looks tired, and Marczynski is coming at a big speed. He’s in pole-position now and can give Vacansoleil a big win here!
Chaves blew himself up, appearently. Marczynski passed him, though not having an impressive pace either. Only Howes can more or less follow and he’ll pick up if Marczynski blows himself up as well. Marczynski lost his pace, Howes as well. Chaves found some again, but can only keep up for now and can’t overtake the Polish rider. Or can he?
No, he can’t! Marczynski takes a great win for Vacansoleil here! Chaves obviously is the runner-up, and Howes takes a nice third place.
News just in Esteban Chaves managed to get 2nd on stage 6 of the Tour de Suisse, after an amazing day of strong riding in the break away. H also managed to distance himself from the rest opt the group yet his strength turned out to be his weakness, as he was caught by another rider with 1.2 km to go. The rest of guys finished in the main peloton 2 minutes down on the break, which featured strong riders like Nibali and Rodriguez, which just shows how strong Chaves was today.
Esteban told us, "I'm so overwhelmed with how today went, I knew I was going well, but not that well. However I'm slightly disappointed that I wasn't able to get the win after getting so close, but I did as much as I could do and maybe if I'd attacked on the final climb I would of got the win, but that's bike racing. I've learned a lot about racing today and I will not make the same mistake again!

Team Colombia Searching for Young Riders.
The team Colombia management have announced that they are wanting to sign some young riders, to help the team to progress. They are interested in all applications and all you have to do is, send me your details and a short piece about yourself and why you want to be on our team. The team is famous for providing a basis for young Colombian climbers, who want to try and make it onto the big stage and hope that they can extend their rider base to riders from other countries.

At Colombia we have applied for our chosen races, as we aim to further improve upon the results at the Tour De Suisse. In which we hope to get wins rather than top 10s, therefore we will aim to enter these races with passion and the climbing prowess that we Colombians naturally posses.

As we are guaranteed entry in these race we are happy to announce that we have selected these races as the team management believe that these races best suit our riders skill sets, therefore we feel that we have the most chance of achieving our goal of a victory before the end of the season. We also hope that we will be in the running for promotion to the World Tour for the next year, however we know this is unlikely as we have only just come under new management meaning we are well behind most other teams. However I think that the guys are ready and raring to teak the racing to everyone else meaning that the other teams should be aware of us as we are on the edge of achieving a victory.
World Tour
WT.4 Tour de Pologne [27 July-3 August]
We selected this race as the tough nature of the race will suit our leader for this race, which we will believe will be John Darwin Atapuma, however this is subject to confirmation by the UCI who have as yet not chosen who will ride the race.
WT.3 GP Plouay [1 September]
We have requested to enter this race as we our sponsors wish to promote their brand in France, therefore we thought that this would be the first key step towards doing this, therefore we will aim to work for Leonardo Duque to lead him out as it often finishes in a sprint, although we will also take Duarte in case it breaks up on the climbs.
WT.3 GP du Quebec [13 September]
We wish to ride this race as it appears to be the perfect foundations for an assault on the tour of Britain which is an objective set out by our sponsors, therefore we will take all three of our top riders in the aim of taking the GC victory.
WT.1 Il Lombardia [6 October]
We see this race as a grand tour in a day, and being one of the monuments of cycling, we knew that this would be a key race to ride, as our base is nearby, but also our Italian rider Marco Corti lives nearby, therefore he wants to impress in front of his family.
WT.4 Tour of Beijing [11-15 October]
We know that the tour of Beijing isn't very popular between the world tour teams, however we see it as a great opportunity to race against the best in the world, in a new place for cycling, therefore we will aim to send the best team possible to compete against the World Tour teams, and perhaps take the victory.
