Team Metinvest-Emirates - Ready to push to PT!
The team is successor of Team Metinvest-Slovnaft from 2012 Cdiv2 season (old thread here https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....owstart=80).
Year 2013 saw moving up to prestigious PCT division, where the team was doing great for there first year and finished in the middle of the pack. After stabilization year, we are ready to expand our depth, hire at least one new leader and continue pushing higher and higher!
Thanks to the succesful year in 2013,we were able to find common ground with all of our new existing sponsors, with only change coming in bike manufacturer department, where Bianchi is replacing Kuota. You can read more about it here:
Our jersey for 2014:
Metinvest is an international vertically integrated mining and steel company owning 24 assets in Ukraine, Europe and the United States and managing each link of the production chain – iron ore and coal mining.
Metinvest CEO Ruslan Popov is a big cycling fan and his idea started this project.
The holding is ready to spend large funds if this idea will have expected results.
Emirates is an airline based at Dubai International Airport in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the largest airline in the Middle East, operating over 2,500 flights per week. The company also operates four of the world's ten longest non-stop commercial flights from Dubai to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, and Houston. Emirates is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which has over 50,000 employees, and is wholly owned by the government of Dubai directly under the Investment Corporation of Dubai.
Emirates are not newcomers in the world of sports, as they gave great amounts of money to several well-known football teams and support also Formula 1 and many other activities. Now they enter also the world of cycling, their goal is especially to show their name, to develop the cycling at middle east and to spread their influence to Africa and Mediterranean.
Harmony Gold mining - South Africa
Harmony Gold is the third largest gold mining company in South Africa, the 12th largest in the world (2009) and the 5th largest gold producer in the world. The company owns a number of mines including Elandskraal mine and Phakisa Mine.
Our South african sponsor was floding with joy after we managed to sign their home star in person of Nolan Hoffman. His stellar rersults in 2013 only assured Harmony, that they are cooperating with right team. As long as we will hold on our african star, they will support us greatly.
Gruppo Lucchini - Italy
Gruppo Lucchini is the third largest Italian steel group after Gruppo Riva and Techint, with a year production of 3.5 million tonnes. It is specialized in high quality long and special carbon steel products.
Our ever improving italian focus is pleasing music to the ears of this italian company. And since we plan to aquire more of the talented italians, there is no reason for them to leave the bandwagon.
Our only change from 2013 to 2014 is switch of the bike manufacturers. We are very happy to have secured contract with famous italian company Bianchi. Bianchi has long tradition of producing both beautiful and functional bikes for road cycling, so we hope for succesful cooperation.
Here you can see our new design of Bianchi frames, made by famous bike designer Fintas:

Summary 2012 - standings, goals and results
The 2011/2012 season almost came to the end, actually only NCs are left to race this season, so it is time of reflection and looking back. We will bring news about important NCs, especially the one from Ukraine, in the separate report.
Also we want to let you know that our teams webmaster was fired, as he failed to inform about races from September and October, sorry for that.
1st | Het Nieuwsblad Cycling Team | 1824 | 2nd | American Express | 1565 | 3rd | Team Cativen | 1337 | 4th | Pivovarna Laško Cycling Team | 1258 | 5th | Samsung-Mol Cycling Team | 1162 | 6th | Alstom - Bic Pro Cycling | 1064 | 7th | Team Kingspan Continental | 957 | 8th | Team Adecco | 935 | 9th | Team UPC | 925 | 10th | Team Metinvest - Slovnaft | 918 | 11th | Team Dyson | 899 | 12th | Ekspla-Maxima Cycling Team | 896 | 13th | Team Serbian Telecom | 855 | 14th | Gazprom-Rosbank | 854 | 15th | Team Petrobras - Banco do Brasil | 610 | 16th | Team Finnair-Nordea | 558 | 17th | Eurovision Cycling Team | 485 | 18th | Team Armavia | 440 |
Our goal was to finish in the top 10 here and we did, we finished right there in the 10th spot. The margins between 7th and 14th spot was rather small, several teams were very balanced results-wise. To be honest we were hoping for top 6, but some of our riders under performed a bit, especially the one we will talk about in a while.
| First name | Surname | Team | Points | 1 | Anthony | Colby | American Express | 396 | 2 | Saïd | Haddou | Alstorm - Bic | 377 | 3 | Gilberto | Sampaio | Het Nieuwsblad | 367 | 4 | Francisco | Mancebo | Team Kingspan Continental | 330 | 5 | Carlos Alberto | Ospina | American Express | 327 | 6 | Maxim | Burlutsky | Team Armavia | 320 | 7 | Luis Felipe | Laverde Jimenez | Team Cativen | 310 | 8 | Ricardo | Serrano | Pivovarna LaÅ¡ko | 301 | 9 | Ruben Elvira | Lobato | Pivovarna LaÅ¡ko | 262 | 10 | Rubén DarÃo | Laverde Velez | Het Nieuwsblad | 261 | 11 | Fabio | Ciccarese | Team Cativen | 251 | 12 | Benoît | Daeninck | Ekspla-Maxima | 245 | 13 | David | Belda | Team Kingspan Continental | 236 | 14 | Adonis | Cardoso Española | American Express | 221 | 15 | Ruslan | Grychenko | Team Metinvest - Slovnaft | 216 | 16 | Daniel | Thorsen | Samsung-Mol | 215 | 17 | Angel | Vicioso | Samsung-Mol | 209 | 18 | Edgar | Restrepo | Team Cativen | 204 | 19 | Isidro | Nozal | Team UPC | 200 | 20 | Yauhen | Sobal | Team Serbian Telecom | 195 |
As you can see our best rider is Ruslan Grychenko, sitiing at the 15th place in the end. Not bad you can say, but problem is that we expected a lot more from him, top 10 at least, rather even top 3/5. Why? Because Ruslan should have been the absolute best on hills of Div2 races. In the end he was far from that and majority of his points came from stage races, as he failed to enter top 3 in single day races, what a shame. We are currently thinking about what he and we did bad, but one thing is sure, Ruslan and Metinvest are both going their ways heading to 2013.
Win goal:Tour de Maroc - failed
Top 10 goal: Chrono Gatineau - accomplished
Special goal: Going global - failed

I'll be interested in your Italians, but I must ask, how is Moser already loaned in?

It`s last seasons roster. Moser is owned by Wiggle. |

Oops, i forgot to remove that loan remark together with Moreno Moser himself, he is indeed rightful part of wonderful Wiggle (former) team.
Also, Brambilla is not for sale by 100% and Capecchi is also important part of the squad, not even mentioning we would like to increase, not decrease our italian side-focus. Martinelli should end up for grabs in free agency, not enough room to develop in our colours...

Can't wait to see Hoffmans wage, and then to watch aidan agonize over whether it's worth the investment

NC jerseys and champions revealed!
Those fans who followed closely this years NCs already know that Metinvest was one of the most succesful prfessional teams worldwide ,with no less than 8 different riders grabbing either road, or TT national title. We even had some doubles, that was some harvest!
Famous designer Aidanvn13 helped us once again and designed this great jerseys to represent our winning mentality. However some of these jerseys will not see the light of 2014 season, as we had to part ways with some of national champions for next year. They clearly thought that they deserve much more money for national jersey than we thought. So several can be either released, or transfered.
Notice that last in the line is potential national jersey of Ukraine, which should serve as the lever for convincing manager Kami and TT champion Grabovski to make the deal during transfers.
Eduardo Sepulveda - TT
Nicolae Tanovitchii - road race
Ermin Van Wyk - road race
Stefan Petrovski - road race, TT
Haijun Ma - TT
Peter Kusztor - road race, TT
Ahmed Albourdainy - road race, TT
Nolan Hoffman - road race
???

Really nice kit. Hopefully you'll get some wildcards again this season to show them off in the top flight.

Thanks guys, we will be really colourful bunch, despite some of the champions are going out of our squad.
We really hope for some more wildcard, maybe even giving GT a shot, that will depend on transfer season. PT is our long term goal, so every experience with it is great.

Well, you should read the last line in small article right above the first (argentinian) NC jersey, there is pretty clear hint pointed at Bacardi.

@Alak: Indeed great news, which made any move for Nolan highly unlikely, but as others, you can see now:
Our negotiations were not long and came to plausible result. With everybody we wanted in our team for 2014 resigned, we can give hints about possibly available riders. Those were signed at minimum wage in most cases, to make talks fluent.
You can see that highlight of renewals is big paycut for Jaroslav Popovych and not so big increase for our star Nolan Hoffman. we are happy with renewals outcome, so see you in the transfers. You can give us hint now, if you are interested in someone...
Huge offer needed
