The Oz Cycling Project goes into it's third year and we're happy to be yet again part of the Pro Continental Tour for the upcoming 2014 season! Following a year with ups and downs, fearing to relegate until a huge "comeback" at the Herald Sun Tour, the project is set for a next step towards the Top-10 in the PCT.
Like every year, we have some changes of sponsors. South Australia. A brilliant bend was our "themed sponsor" in 2013 and now we're going to support Queensland. Tourism and Events in order to cover yet another beautiful state/region in Australia.

And that's it.. here our first relevant news for 2014, which was already to be seen in our old thread:
The Oz Cycling Project revealed it's first roster plan for the upcoming 2014 campaign. As always, it's of course not 100% safe yet, wether this plan will come true or not. It's just an idea of which direction the team will take for the new season.
There's no real surprise, except of maybe the opportunity to sell well talented Kiwi Bennett in a deal. Oz's manager said, that there's a certain target for a deal like that, which is yet kept secret - for obvious reasons.. On the other hand, aging riders like Rogers (where his wage demand will play a big role) or "Gerro" (where his declining skills will play a big role) were expected to be found on the less safe side of the paper.
@Heine: Well, I'm hoping for another step forward, just like last year Rogers is a question, yes. He will be useful for another year at least, but his wage will be the key.
@Cycleman: I expected you to do so Well, check the roster plan and see who's available. Loan-deals are always worth thinking of with another Aussie team on board!

What a lovely HQ thread Tsmoha! It certainly has its own soul and style. I would say the best one around, together with Project Africa.
In more serious manner, Team Metinvest - Emirates would like to declare interest in Oz rider, Giovanni Visconti, who was on our shortlist already last year, but in the end we had choosen another option. Giovanni might even make us think twice about some options.

As for Visconti, we will definitely keep that interest in mind. Giovanni is kind of a special case, as i both like him (in a way) and fancy his allround skills, which could become quite a good thing with the HC-Bands But he's not garantueed a place on the team, so we may be in talks when the time comes.
The Oz Cycling Project revealed it's equipment for the upcoming season, made by Cavendish-Fan! Huge thanks for this effort and so on.
With the equipment and shirt being ready for the new year, it's no time for the team to prepare the most important stuff: renewals, sponsor goals, transfers! The management decided to not comment on too many names on the team's shortlist, even though some may be pretty obvious anyway (and we're not talking about that certain Aussie kid)...
The roster plan for the current team was released a few days ago, but there's news/update on this: Luke Durbridge, rising TT-star, will most likely spend another year in the ProTour in order to gain as much experience as needed to reach his full potential: "We do have some familiar options in the PT and we're pretty optimistic about Luke finiding a spot. He will be a pretty good addition to any team, even on this level, so I guess it's certain he will spend another year on-top", confirmed TS Moha earlier today.
As already said a few days before, it's now confirmed that Oz Cycling Project will once again send on key rider to ProTour in order to gain experience: Luke Durbridge, currently enjoying himself in some weird photo sessions, is expected to join a PT-team, which is need of an already strong TT-specialist.
In other news, the management confirmed that at least three of Oz's veterans will leave the team no matter what: Baden Cooke, Roman Kilun, Jean-Christophe Peraud.. while the decision on Simon Gerrans is not yet been made: "Gerro may take the same role like Baden had last year. Leading the team in several ways on and off the road. But of course we also want him to say what he prefers."
