Shortly - Deluxe Ski Jump 4 is an addictive, physics-based, ski jumping game.
You control the movement of the ski jumper with intuitive mouse controls.
First you have to do a well-timed and powerful takeoff, then find the most aerodynamic flight angles, and finally make a smooth telemark landing to please the judges. All your movements are simulated accurately according to real-world physics. So, basically it's controlled only by mouse.

It's the game made in 2011 and some of you maybe even played it. Actually, the info that game is made in 2011 doesn't mean anything, since the game creator, Jussi Koskela (FIN) is updating game every 2-3 months with few new hills, some gameplay and online improvements.
Game is only 15mbs big, but it is really, really addictive and can bring you much fun. Once you manage how to jump good, you'll never stop - believe me.
I have this game from the first day it is published and i am still playing it almost everyday. They game costs 9.99euros and you get 90 free days of online subscription. After that, every new subscription costs 5 (for 3 month) or 10e (for 10 month) subscription.
Online part is best part of this game, in my opinion. All rooms are opened and you have like competitions every week (something like Online League, but better organised and automated). Ski Flying Cup, DSJ Marathon, 2 Competitions Every Week etc, etc.
Also, just to say, game is made by only one person (a guy mentioned above) and that's one of main reasons i bought the game - support him. Even if you're not ski-jumping fan, you'll find this game very, very interesting and who knows, you maybe even start following ski jumping (just as 547984 did, he's playing this like 5 days now without stopping )
I made some videos about it, so feel free to check it. These jumps below are pretty good, since one of them was World Record for long time. Take a look under the spoiler.
And for some screenshots, take a look under the spoiler.
So, demo is free, so what are you waiting for?

I uses to play Deluxe Ski Jumping 2, a lot. I used to make a cup with 20 best World Cup riders irl at the time and jump with each one of them in the world cup ( didn't have Internet back then when I was 11 I think) :-D
It really was an awesome game, need to try this out for sure.

It's been more than a year that i've playing this, but it's a great game indeed. Still remember when me and q friend of mine switched from DSJ3 to 4: first frustration, but once we spend a whole day getting the new gameplay, we suddenly became addicted this game is a great example for simple, but realistic gameplay/physics making for a lot of fun!
Anyway, pretty happy i stopped playing. Games like this and TrackMania are just too addiction-friendly

Played all versions, from DSJ1 (which is very similar to 2) to DSJ4 and all i can say that this game is one of best i've ever played.
Alakagom - You should definitely try it. I got ALOT(!) of new Polish internet friends on this game and learned some Polish lang, as well. They're totally dominating this game in terms of number of total players, number of top players etc.
tsmoha - Well, switching from DSJ3 to DSJ4 was one of best things in my gaming life. I still remember the day when i entered the forums and saw like totally new, much better game. Downloaded it and purchased it on the same day and i am still buying subscription regulary. And it indeed is one best "simple" games currently.
Well, i made few months pause aswell, but started playing it like few days ago again and i know i won't get out of it easily, once again.

You freaking ruined my life by introducing me to this game, I dunno why it's so addicting

Can only agree on that When me and this friend made the first 40-50 jumps, we totally sucked, but once one of us got the trick and made a decent jump/landing, we immediately gave Jussi that money for DSJ4 as well
@547984: Have fun

As for DSJ4, I never came that far in the records (and only a few hills), unfortunately. DSJ3 should have some better records. Will PM you anyway

I just don't get it, when I jump no matter how smooth I do the jumper wants to headbutt the table.
After clicking both mouse buttons I guess I need to drag slowly the mouse back (to me) eh?
(Just playing the demo) I will upload a video with several jumps so maybe admir could help. Because at Lillehammer just 45m are laughable. Thats where my record is at the moment.
In Germany we had a ski jumping game until 2007 when RTL (who licensed the game) stopped showing ski jumping and gave a f about it because no german was/is successful. But actually it is too easy after you get the first results and got how to prepare the ski (you had to wax them right) then you were jumping them away by country miles.

@Rin: Don't worry. It took me a day to get the trick, even though i had been playing the previous DSJ-editions before! But once you make a first lets say 90m-jump, you will freak out!

To Rin
Ok, this is how it is going. After you actually entered the game, first thing you should do is change sensitivity. In-Practice, that can be done when you press Practice button and then just go to Settings. If you want to change them for World/Team Cup, you have to go to "Players"/"Default Player".
Then, you have to adjust your sensitivity as that is most important thing in this game. Just set it somewhere between 0.5 and 1.0 , since i (and most DSJ players) find that as best sensitivity.
The problem with headbutting was that sensitivity was 3.0 actually and it's way too sensitive for this kind of game and my guess that no one is probably using it.
After you done that, you actually select Hill you want to jump on and start. To start from in-run just press whatever mouse button you want, it doesn't matter (you can double click, if you want). You can't do anything while your jumper is on ramp, but when he gets the takeoff zone (the zone when he prepares for the air and actually jumps) is probably most important in this game. Actual point of all of this is that you actually have to press both, MOUSE1 and MOUSE2 at the same time since both of them are representing one leg (MOUSE1 is left and MOUSE2 is right, so if you press MOUSE1 a little before MOUSE2 click, jumper will go slightly on left side which will make his jump shorter).
Then , you actually got into the "jump-position" phase. It's in my opinion easiest phase in this game, since you just have to leave these 2 mouse keys and slightly move a mouse back. Moving mouse back is actually very logic stuff, since it represents jumpers "battle" with strong wind. If you pull the mouse too hard, jumper will loose control and probably fall. If you don't pull it hard, he will take some not realistic position so he'll jump shorter there aswell. It's just matter of practice.
When your jumper is close to landing phase, you have to prepare for it aswel. Slightly push or just don't pull the mouse back anymore, since jumper needs to prepare himself and take a bit higher body position. If your jumper goes too far, you'll probably have to press both key as that represents non-telemark or both legs landing. Of course, that kind of landing gives you less points, but that's not important for starting the game. If you want to do a telemark, just press one of mouse keys. It's just like as in takeoff, if you press MOUSE1 the left leg will go behind and it will be left-legged telemark which is actually slightly bit easier and if you press MOUSE2 it will go with right one , which is more risky but brings you a bit more points.
That's pretty much about it and remember, this game is only about practising and once you get it, you'll never wish to exit it.
Also, yes i played RTL Ski Jumping 2007 and it sucks ,seriously. Arcade game, non-realistic jumps, non-realistic moves and won't even talk about career mode.

@Rin, all: Make sure mouse sensitivity is at least down to 1.0, I even play at 0.75 or 0.8. I know admir plays at 0.1 or something

I already setted the sensivity down to 0.1 and 0.5 but both doesn't make it better.
I read the "introduction" of the game but is it really that hard to put into the effing GUI a help like what to do with the mouse?
Every other ski jumping game I came across has one even Cyanides Winter Challenge for gods sake.
Video still to be uploaded and even with a shit quality it takes 60 minutes -.-

Actually i forgot to say that i am holding a record for lowest online rating in the DSJ (it exists for 15 years) ever - 499 (did it on purpose). I couldn't manage to get best in DSJ4 , so i thought making lowest will put my name somewhere in DSJ history book.
Tour de DSJ, 6 days event just started yesterday. It's most important DSJ event in one year and there are like alot (more than 120 guys were online in one room yesterday, at the smae time) of the guys online in these 6 days. So, if you already have the game, join us tommorow and next 4 days, if not just purchase it right now. It's alot of fun!

Okay, so 20 minutes of training in Lillehammer gave me 40 rubbish jumps, 5 decent ones around 100m and jumps to 118m, 125m and my last one was 135m, I guess that's okay for a newbie?
1m headwind btw

That's actually really good for first 20 minutes. Try setting your wind on 2.0 (it can't be set on World Cup and it can be set on Practice, in the Practice/Settings, just as sensitivity), it will surely bring you some even better jumps.
Btw guys, since few of you don't even follow Ski Jumping and are just playing the game one little explanation: Chestwind makes your jumper slower on inrun, but it rises him in the air and actually make your jumps way longer. Backwind actually makes your jumper faster on inrun and it also makes your takeoff harder (your jumper is just faster).
So, for longer jumps in Practice just set your wind to 180 degrees and 2.0.
---
Rin, you're just pushing it too hard or your sensitivity is way too high. Try just slightly moving it back and try not to do these "gibbons". Also, change camera to F1 or F2 (by just pressing one of these 2 buttons) since jumping is way easier on these 2 cameras. Personally, i am using F1.
Try looking on some of my videos above. You can also go to Hill Records/Global Records and find world records there, or even find some mine best jumps by just entering my name/surname (Admir Mujagic) into that bracked that gets opened by pressing on Find Player.

@cio: I guess that is the true difference between an American playing this game and a European (After almost a week I have yet to reach that )
@Rin: As admir said, your sensitivity should be 0.75 - 1 ish, and I think the problem is that this game is more subtle than you think. When I first played it I was very frantic, moving the mouse back and forth and back and forth...but really it only requires a little movement steady backwards. To put it into perspective, I start my mouse at the top of my mousepad, and at the end of the jump it is barely over halfway, and does not involving pushing forward.

Well, we're Olympic Team Champions in this, of course it should be easier for us
Nah, I was kinda addicted to the games RTL released back then, and I guess you'll never unlearn such stuff.
Besides, it is really hard to find the balance for everyone. Leaning too much forward or backward by a mere inch during any part of the jump can easily cost you 20 metres.
