' A better world is coming'

Welcome to the Bonsucro thread. What is Bonsucro you ask? Bonsucro is an ethically minded global non profit organisation dedicated to removing the negative environmental and social impacts of sugar cane production. What better way to promote this just cause than by lending its name to a cycling team.

In 2014 we will be starting out in the continental division. We aim to attract the ethically minded teams attention and thus form solid links.

2014 Jersey:

Sponsors:

Bonsucro is a global company, but with considerable support from Brazilian ethically minded sponsors and focus on Brazil, the team is and was always going to be based in Brazil.

Copagra - Farming
Frutos do Brasil - Food & Drinks

Thanks for having me aidanvn. Wink I'm really satisfied with the shirt from Maximka, I feel it fits right in with the team.

Looking forward to the transfer period. We are very interested in Brazilian riders, South American riders and Portuguese speaking riders, but we may look much further when it comes to the leaders.

(Note)
We won't be signing any big egos which threaten to 'overpower' the team, even if we were capable! Smile Wink

Miguel98
Too many South American teams!!! Pfft

Good luck, we''ll probably clash a couple of times during transfer season.

sutty68
Lets hope that Bonsucro can put Brazil on the map, Good Luck Smile

Looking good. It's nice to have a brazilian team to bring some more diversity and exoticness to the game, even though that will likely interfere with my team's negotiations.

You've also got a beautiful jersey there, congrats to Maximka. Good luck Wink

Nice team, one of the many new South American ones. Love the jersey. Can't see us meeting much in transfers though.

A Brazilian team is a great initiative and that is a fantastic jersey!

Thanks everyone who has posted, it is great you like the initiative/ jersey. I'm sure we will see plenty of the jersey in the south American races Wink

Gustavovskiy - We are already thinking about signing a former/ or current rider from a certain Portuguese team! Having seen that team rise to the WT it would be nice for Bonsucro to sign a rider from that team and maybe get some of that team's luck.

Regarding Transfers - As long as everyone stays clear from the Brazilians, we won't have any problems. Smile Wink

Good luck for the coming season, I like the team and focus.

Though when I saw you'd been accepted my first thought was are you going to repair the reputation of team coca cola with lime Pfft

I figured you would mention that at some point. I have to say while I would like to help a regional team like yours, it's kind of hard for me to want to let go of my brazilians this year... we'll have to see how the transfer season goes.

Today is a huge moment for the team, why? Because we have signed our first ever rider. It is poignant that we have signed a Brazilian and a great young talent in João Gaspar for the small sum of €50,000.

* Slowly but surely we are assembling a squad of brave guerreiros

We are overjoyed to announce the signing of the Brazilian, Carlos Alexandre Marinelli, today having successfully negotiated a deal worth € 140,000 with the welcoming manager of La Vie Claire. The pure sprinter is our first 'big name' signing and our first permanent signing from another team.

In a press conference Carlos had the following to say ' My time at La Vie was a great experience for me, helping Napolitano in the sprints was an honour. But, to be leading a Brazilian team, albeit at continental level, and having good opportunities to win many stages I was only ever going to end up at one place. This is a great project and I hope to be here for a long time to come.'

Carlos is not the only signing we have managed today. It is no secret our team shares a similar philosophy with Prio - Porto. A sign of our good friendship was made tangible today with us loaning the young Portuguese puncheur Bruno Borges.

But it does not stop there. Early this morning we managed to sign another Brazilian, Rodrigo Melo, who will look to flourish with the team.

That wraps up the confirmed transfer deals today. Expect a similar, yet longer, update tomorrow at the same time. And remember: support sustainable sugar cane production!

Summary of confirmed transfer activity today:

Spoiler

Bruno Borges ( HILL 73, ACC 77) Fee: 50,000
Manarelli (SPR: 79, ACC:79) Fee: 140,000
Melo ( MO: 73, FGH 74) Fee: 0
