This update is missing Tour Alsace, so that will become a de-facto October race having only started today. It doesnt include Milano-Torino either, which has now been reported. Next update will come a few races time after the Giro dell'Emelia.

No HC races in September, the two most notable races were the Tour of America and the Tour of Britain. Prio-Porto did well in America, won the Tour of Britain, and also one of the Canadian classics. Their late promotion push continues - they were the best team in August as well!

Great month too for Repsol-Cativen. Kashechkin won the Continental Grand Tour, as the South American squad look to escape from relegation.

Iberia were the best CT team of the month, but not far ahead of ANC-Halfords. Usually at the bottom instead, it was probably their best month of the season. Team BNCR also had a strong month, and they are in the battle for promotion.

Let's start with the promotion fight. Previously thought to be the Top 4 teams, but if the ProTour expands to 22 teams next season, it is the Top 6 we need to be looking out for!

This makes Prio-Porto's run all the more important as they have climbed to 5th. The Top 4 is certainly hard to call at this stage - although Tinkoff appear to be closing in on overall victory, even that is not over yet.

A few small changes further down the Top 10. All eyes will be on Bouygues Telecom, Bpost and VolksWagen now - with Bpost most definitely having the race day advantage.

Now to relgation, and your eyes do not deceive you. In the battle for the final relegation place, Team CSC-Orbea and Team UPC are tied. Oz Cycling and LukOil both drop into the relegation places - Repsol are the team to have moved away for now.

The race day details below may shed more light on just who is in the most danger.

Disclaimer: I am fairly sure that many of these race days total will not be correct. They should be mostly accurate, but will be off by a few days. Also, some teams are not using the full 175 - so projections are not entirely accurate.

And still it is Bpost who are projected to rise up into 4th position. A lot rests on their performance on the cobbles in the Tour du Faso, you suspect. With Hollister not continuing, Prio hold onto the 6th spot.

At the bottom, it spells trouble for Repsol and CSC-Orbea. Oz Cycling may just about escape, edging out LukOil.

CT

Promotion from CT is a tricky one to deal with. Who knows how many spots may ultimately become available - all we can say for sure is that the Top 5 active CT teams will definitely go up. Further complicated by inactivity amongst some of the top sides - some over the whole season, some more recently. In short: promotion won't be confirmed until post season, so teams just have to try and get as high as possible until then!

Gazelle are going up, that is safe to say. The 3000 point mark is surely in reach.

Kappa and Allianz are looking strong, and have been ip there all season long. Magna and Mobil-Castrol are still in play, while Privatbank replace Kenya Airways in the Top 10. 3 place gains is a handy gain for Adira too.

As proof of how Gazelle really found the right formula this year, their projection would put them in the PCT Top 10 - even with less race days. It won't be as easy to score as well next season, without the C2 dominance to rely on.

The Individual rankings or going to go right down to the wire, after Gert Steegmans took over the lead this month. He still has Dobrich GP left while Gazelle rivals split their races - Weening at Yekaterinburg and Zurich, Nardin in Utah.

The entire Top 9 are all pretty close and have the chance to change their positions in this final month. Marzano in 10th is the only Top 10 riders to have ended his season.

Don't think that was our bets month in terms of actual numerical value, but in relative position i think so. 5th of the CT teams gives a solid boost to a promotion charge (it's slim but there is still hope) especially when teams like Kenya and Mobil really struggled.

Wow didn't know September was that good for us. But it's secure to say that this was our peak. It's impossible for October to be that good for us.

With this and the possible enlargement of PT to 22 teams, promotion seems more and more likely, but it's still far from achieved. Without the expansion Bpost seems the best candidate for the final spot. Promotion is theirs to lose imo.

Oh man this remains incredibly tight. I am racing every single C1 and HC race left on the calendar so hopefully I can pick something up. As you say SN, Faso is going to be the key to my chances, particularly with Gautier still hideously underperforming.

I'm curious about who else is going to Faso. Judging by the number of race days most of the promotion contenders have left, I'm willing to bet most of them aren't.

PCT rankings look close, I will continue my monthly wtf Bintang thing but Nethertheless the manager looks pretty inactive so who cares about that.
Faso could be pretty important at either end of the table and if Flugal flies who knows for VW.
