The fifth and probably final instalment of tour of the chosen is here. Having had four previous versions, I have amalgamated all of the best bits in the hope of having one of the most involved, unpredictable and exciting community stories.
New features to TOTC5: 28 stages, 'transfer period' and 'rewards for active managers'. If you haven't heard of TOTC then I ask you...... how is the weather on Mars?!
Many more details along with the rules, riders in the transfer market and the route will be released later today and tomorrow morning. If you want in then sign up in this thread, regulars are more than welcome. 
(If you took part in TOTC4 and barely participated (ie failed to comment
on your stage win) then PLEASE do not ask for a place.

Steps:
(Simplified rules/ Steps)
Step 1: Sign up by posting in this thread and pick a jersey (from the list in post 3 if you are new to TOTC5).
Step 2: Once prompted the 'transfer period' will begin and will end abruptly on Saturday 1st February at 21:00 (GMT). A special thread will be opened to deal with the transfer period (see below in this post for more details). A team can acquire up to 3 riders in the transfer period.
Step 3: Once the rider lists are released send me via PM your rider choices for the serpentine draft.
Step 4: Now everyone will have a team of 9 riders. If eligible for a bonus, send me a PM who you want the bonuses to go to.
Step 5: If you wish do a team presentation when I open up a thread in the story games section.
Step 6: Follow all the action in the story games section. Bonus points will be on offer for guessing which rider comes home in a certain position based on the report.
More details on the transfer period:
--- Each manager has 3,000,000 to start off with exactly.
--- You can sign up to 3 riders from the Pot 1 riders announced.
--- You cannot bid on more than 3 riders at any one time.
--- The minimum bid for a rider is 100,000.
--- The maximum bid is 3,000,000 (total budget).
--- To bid on a rider you would have to post in the transfer thread before the given deadline.
--- To prevent people from bidding right at the last minute there will be one hour exactly for revised bids after the last bid on a rider (if this is on or around the time limit)
--- The teams with the most budget leftover will be rewarded (with stat bonuses/ UC points)
--- To be eligible for these bonuses you must have posted at least one rider bid. If you have signed up to TOTC5 and failed to place a bid you will be withdrawn from TOTC5.
At the end of the transfer period the 15 teams with the most budget left will receive bonuses. If two teams end on the same budget and are eligible for bonus they will each have the same bonus. No bonuses will be offered if a team has £0 budget left, even if they are in the top 15 teams.
Bonuses for teams (1= most budget left)
1. ALL RIDERS + 2 STA, + 2 RES, + 1 TT, + 1 REC, + 25 UC points
2. 2 riders + 2 Cob + 1 FLT, + 1 STA
3. 30 UC points
4. 2 riders + 1 MNT, + 1 HILL, + 2 REC
5. ALL RIDERS + 1 FLAT, + 1 ACC, + 1 STA
6. 20 UC points
7. 1 RIDER + 2 TT, + 1 FLAT
8. 2 Riders + 2 FLAT, + 1 FIGHTER
9. 15 UC points
10. 1 Rider, + 1 FLAT, + 3 FIGHTER, + 1 COBBLES
11. Whole team + 2 FIGHTER
12. 10 UC points
13. 1 Rider + 1 MNT, + 1 REC
14. 5 UC points
15. 1 Rider + 2 Resistance + 1 Recovery
Afterwards new riders will be available to bid on in the form of a serpentine system. (similar riders to that of Pot2/Pot3 riders in TOTC4). For this lists will have to be sent to me via PM as in TOTC4. Every team will acquire exactly 3 riders from Pot 2. Every team will acquire up to 6 riders from Pot 3.

The scoring system:
Per every stage: (except TTT's)
1st place rider =30 points 2nd place =24 points 3rd place 20 points
4th place = 17 points 5th place =15 points 6th place = 13 points
7th place= 11 points 8th place =10 points 9th place =9 points
10th place =8 points 11th place= 7 points 12th place = 6 points
13th place = 5 points 14th place = 4 points 15th = 3points
Plus 1 point per rider who finishes at the same time as the stage winner.
Scoring system for TTT
Points are awarded to the team rather than individuals
1st place team: 50 points 2nd place team: 40 points 3rd place team: 30 points
4th place team: 25 points 5th place team: 20 points 6th place team: 17 points
7th place team: 15 points 8th place team: 13 points 9th place team: 11 points
10th place team: 10 points 11th place team: 9 points 12th place team: 8 points
13th place team: 7 points 14th place team: 6 points 15th place team: 5 points
Points for final GC:
1st place = 100 points 2nd place= 75 points 3rd place = 60 points
4th place = 50 points 5th place= 45 points 6th place = 40 points
7th place = 36 points 8th place = 32 points 9th place = 28 points
10th place = 25 points 11th place = 22 points 12th place = 20 points 13th place = 18 points 14th place = 16 points 15th place = 12 points 16th place = 10 points 17th place = 8 points 18th place = 6 points 19th place = 4 points 20th place = 2 points
Points for final points classification:
1st place = 60 points 2nd place = 45 points 3rd place = 35 points
4th place = 25 points 5th place = 20 points 6th place = 16 points
7th place = 12 points 8th place = 10 points 9th place = 8 points
10th place = 6 points 11th place = 4 points 12th place = 2 points
Points for final mountain classification:
1st place = 50 points 2nd place = 40 points 3rd place = 30 points
4th place= 25 points 5th place = 20 points 6th place = 16 points
7th place = 12 points 8th place = 10 points 9th place = 6 points
10th place = 3 points
Points for final youth classification:
1st place: 40 points 2nd place = 30 points 3rd place = 25 points
4th place = 20 points 5th place= 16 points 6th place = 12 points
7th place = 10 points 8th place = 8 points 9th place = 6 points
10th place = 3 points
TOTC5: Position guessing game.
At the end of each stage I will state a position in the top 20 and you have to guess which rider finished there based on the report. Multiple people can guess the same rider if they wish. You are allowed one guess per stage, if you guess correctly you will receive 5 UC points.
If you guess the correct rider:
2 stages in a row: you receive 10 UC points on the stage
3 stages in a row: '' 15 UC points ''
4 stages in a row: '' 20 UC points ''
5 stages in a row: '' 25 UC points ""
If you do a team presentation to a high standard you will receive 15 UC points before the racing starts. IN TOTC4 presentations from Jesleyh, Atlantius, Cycleman123, Shonak, mvhoogdalem, Dippofix and Ollfardh are good examples of good presentations which would have been awarded with 15 UC points.
