Based on something I saw somewhere else, I've decided to start up a new fantasy game here where we can predict which riders will do well in 2014, based around the CQ Ranking. Hopefully it will be quite popular, as it is quick to join and easy to participate in.
How it Works
Participants will pick a 15-rider squad, based around certain guidelines. The rest is simple - whichever team that accumulates the biggest combined CQ score is the winner. But as I said, there are certain guidelines for picking your team:
- The combined CQ score from the 2013 season cannot exceed 5000 Points.
- Teams must have five riders from their chosen nationalities.
- Teams must have at least five over-25 riders in their squads.
- Teams can only be made up of riders riding in the WT or the PCT in 2014.
After you have selected your team you can sit back and watch the season unfold. Your participation won't end there though, see below for the extra jobs a manager has.
Captains
Each month from January to October a team will have a captain, who's monthly CQ score will be doubled. This means you may want to choose riders riding different schedules, or riders with different strengths. A rider can captain multiple months.
Your captain for a month scores double for any race that starts in that month only.
Monthly Transfers
You can make one transfer at the start of every month, providing that the rider you are transferring doesn’t bring your total number of 2013 CQ points to over 5000.
Also, once a rider has joined your team from a transfer he can't leave and you can't re-sign riders, to prevent unfair scenarios from happening. A rider transferred in can't score points in a race that started the previous month.
Stagiares
At the beginning of August teams will be able to pick two riders that are joining real life teams as stagiares to contribute to the team's score. If you aren't active at that time then you lose the benefit of these, and have a larger chance of not doing well.
Doping
If a rider on your team is caught doping during the season, all his points will be annulled. You cannot transfer him out, so you lose a spot in your team. This encourages teams to not hire cheaters!
Updates
I will keep track of every team's score and will do a monthly update here in the thread to hopefully keep people interested, along with monthly transfers.

Fill in this Excel form and send it back to me by PM. The deadline for entries is 12PM GMT on the 6th of January. Hopefully at least a few people will be interested. Feel free to ask any questions below.

Doesn't this mean you can only pick 3 nationalities and chose 5 riders for each nationality? Or did you mean 5 riders per nationality is the max?
Edit: Nevermind I understand now. You must choose a nationality for a team and pick at least 5 riders from that nationality.

I'd like to keep people involved a little as the season progresses, so at least some interest is retained. Also it's a reward for staying active. |
