Time for the annual trudge around the grippy roads of Blighty. The route organisers have served up a backloaded race this year with the really tough stages from five through to seven.
Plenty of British interest here including Two time winner Johnny Bellis (Rothaus). Last years race showed that a decent all round sprinter can survive for a high placing and you feel that managers had that in mind with the likes of Ventoso (Prio-Porto), Haussler (SRAM), Gavazzi (UPC) and Kreder (Swedbank). Hell even the likes of Cavendish (AirBaltic) and Kennaugh(Vueling) could survive.
That said there are riders such as Jaguar duo Froome and Dowsett along with Wegmann (SRAM) and Scheurs (Vueling) who could make things more difficult.
Expect a speedy pace for this one. He says rubbing his rabbits foot.

Big startlist for this one. Absolutely crucial race for us, a bad result will mean relegation for sure.
Go Gavazzi!

This should be a great race. I think the key for the puncheurs is that a "true" sprinter with a bad hill stat wears the yellow jersey on stage 5. If a rider like Haussler has yellow, it will be tough to gap him on such a hilly stage. |

Got a top 10 overall goal here, but it will be really tough to fulfill. Hopefully the hills will be selective and Chaoufi can do something there. |

I hope to win it here with Bellis. But actually less than a podium would be a small disappointment. |

Why my guys don`t even care about the sprints?
Bellis should try to do something and if the game doen`t let him sprint, then Van Heerden or Iglinski could do better.
Hope this will be different on the hillier stages... |

Hmm from me losing that much time earlier makes the hilly stages intresting chance of jaguar making it really hard now hopefully |

All riders bar De Haes in the 2nd group, great start.. I guess Armee fell and the whole team waited for him, or they just took a day off. Oh well.

Great from Schinker, terrible from Chaoufi though... PCM 12 strikes again. It was going to be hard anyway without this. Looks like another goal missed for me.

We´re doing good so far, many Swedbank riders quite high up on these two stages |

I've been looking forward to this race all season. It's perfect for Ventoso. And it's looking great so far.
This is a long race however, and those late hilly stages are anything but easy.
Thanks for the reports Smowz

Ventoso gaining time with Rothaus being invisible so far...Can only hope for selective hilly stages where most sprinters if not all are dropped and Bellis getting a better position there.
So far a big flop in a race I had so high expectations. |

Poor second stage, but at least no time lost. Brammeier in the break is also a positive I guess, but the sprinting from Schinker wasn't great. |

Nelson has struggled all the way through the season but it's nice that he grabbed a top 10 for the team on stage 2

No bonus seconds so far, this could be the end...
Come on Gavazzi, you can do it!

Could you tell me, if Bellis is just sprinting horribly bad or if he is not seen as sprinter and has to sprint out of the pack from far behind? |

He is sprinting out of the pack. There are about 25 or so decentish sprinters and he doesn't seem to be rated in the best ten. There seems for a short time to be an uber queue behind the AirBaltic crew but it disappears fast. Bellis and Rothaus sitting way too far back to be involved in the sprints so far.

Seems like you have a battle for the highest reports/day-ratio for a stage-race with Roturn, great work.
Haussler doing great so far, but i still doubt that he can hang on once the race reaches the hills.
