August 2018
Ok here we go. I am here, I've been rehearsing for this very moment for years, I have prepared for months, there's no turning back now, I cannot turn back, or I ruin my life's work. This is my moment, THE moment, this is what will put me in the history books, not my career, not my personal life, or any of that rubbish. I have learnt a script for goodness sake, I felt like a schoolboy in a play, learning and learning. I cannot let myself down. This isn't a play, this is me, and information. Information the world needs to know, and I am the one telling them.
I'm still waiting. I'm late now. But I don't care, being late doesn't matter, what matters is that I'm not a nervous quivering wreck when it comes to the moment which will make or break me. Am I the saviour or am I the villain. I don't even know inside, what is left of my dying consciousness is telling me I'm doing the right thing, not for me, not for my friends, but for the world. I step out the car, I walk up into the building, and I sit down on the big comfy sofa.
I take a swig of water, I rub my head, and I look up. I see a very bored young man. I don't know why I chose to tell him, it doesn't matter really who it is, except their line of work of course, I just booked an interview with the first group if journalists I could find. The man's eyes light up, of course they do, he's a cycling journalist, and right now I'm one of the most famous cyclists in the world, but I'm about to get a whole lot more famous, like Lance Armstrong Mk2, but bigger.
He looks up from his notes, attempting to look calm despite meeting one of his heroes, I can tell you he's doing a lot better job of it than me. Here goes, the moment has arrived, I need to tell the world, through some just out of uni journalist who's about to get a lot more than he bargained for. Even he doesn't know what this is about, it should just be some post Tour interview.
"Hi Dennis, you alright?"
"Yeah, you?"
"I'm great, howling you reckon this is gonna take?"
"Not long, I just got a few things to get off my back" I breath out, "oh and you might need a bigger notepad.

Ok, let's pre-emptively strike at your questions.
Good Luck ... Thanks
What is it about ... you'll find out
What does this mean for Walter ... Don't worry Walter will be returning, maybe 2014, but he WILL return.
Anything else ... Just ask the question man.
Feel free to ask these questions, 90% will have been 1-3 though, so yeah, I answered them before you asked, that telepathy...

Can you explain why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Crunch?
(you certainly did not expect that!)

Umm, right, that is quite odd, even my telepathy cannot pierce your complicated and just plain odd mind. Well I'll answer anyway. People like the taste of cinnamon because it embodies the contrast between sweet and bitter in one mouthful, and creates a lovely flavour with a beautiful woody fragrance. The crunch adds that extra dimension of texture to make it more tasty. |

Growing Up
Well better start my story from the beginning eh. I am Dennis Wilskracht. I am a Dutch Kid who found a sport he loved and pedalled to the top. That's all I need to say right? What do you mean your editor won't accept that!! It's got a metaphingymabob, what more d'ya want? Oh well, I got all day.
I grew up in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, a place which loves cycling, but loves football a whole lot more. Every boy in my year dreamed of winning the title with Feyenoord, the third most successful team in Dutch football. I wasn't a big fan to be honest. Ironically I was born in one of the last years they won the title, but it wasn't really sign, every year after that we all watched them get smashed by Ajax and PSV. Meanwhile, as everyone got slightly more likely to play for Feyenoord, I started on another sport. I had always loved cycling.
When I was 5 I started riding. By 6 I took if the stabilisers, and quickly started beating my older brothers. They had been pretty good anyway, and soon I was dominating them and my dad. I loved riding, but unlike others I preferred it when the road slid uphill. Not exactly surprising here in the Netherlands, our country has done well in all disciplines, without exactly excelling. I trained and trained, so I stopped going to the kicks bouts in the park, stopped watching Ajax beat us 9899773:0 and spent all my time riding to the biggest hill I could find, (pretty hard in Holland!) and riding up it, then down, then up it, and repeat.
It seemed to be enough as well, at least at first. Even as a teenager I set about winning senior races, not the sprints, but TTs and anything with a hill and I was away. Thankfully it was enough, at least I thought so. I rode my way up through the amateur ranks until that fateful day in late 2012. After watching Dutchmen fail to trouble the top 10 in the Tour, I signed my first Pro-Contract. And I went straight to the the top.
I know now it was the biggest mistake of my life, it could have made me or breaked me, and unfortunately it did both. If I had the same choice again I would have settled for my true strength, and stayed in the continental division, I could still have a good career, maybe become a coach or scout after my retirement. But no, I lead myself into what became the long and turbulent road of this decade, and what I saw ranged from jubilation to despair, and some things I'd rather not mention. |

Yeah I know it's not a real name, just sort of fits with the story line, creative licensing and it's vaguely Dutch.
Tbh, the name came from reading Dennis Bergkamp's (auto)biography, hence Dennis, and I believe Wilskracht is the name of a youth team or something, it's in there somewhere?
You a Feyenoord fan? If so...

But he's from the other side of the Netherlands, shouldn't he support Heerenven or something, I mean they got Friesland's colours on their logo, I love that logo, it's so cool, not like Feyenoord's logo (kidding). Mind you it doesn't work entirely like that here, so why would it there? |

Well, Feyenoord & Ajax are loved through the whole country(NEVER both though). Others only in rare cases(yeah, also PSV, it's mainly popular in Brabant, Limburg etc.).
Also, I live in the other side of the country as well
But lets not turn this into the Eredivisie thread

I don't remember anymore how I became Feyenoorder. I was born here in Sneek, almost all my classmates were Heerenveen fans. I haven't got any connection to Rotterdam, and I have to agree: the Frisian flag is beautiful.
But back on topic (a bit): Feyenoord 3rd most succesful Dutch team. Should be 2nd.

There's no denying Ajax is more succesful. Feyenoord has won more European prices than PSV though. PSV has only been succesful for the last 30 years, Feyenoord for the last 60 or so.

And the stadium capacity and amount of fans is both bigger at Feyenoord.

Not really, they've both appeared in 2 champ league/European cup finals, won one lost one. Feyenoord only has one more UEFA cup/Europa League, and PSV's won 1 too, so it doesn't really make up for the 7 or so more Eredivises. Dunno why I'm arguing, I prefer Feyenoord, gotta hate PSV |

Stop arguing about the best Dutch club. That's obviously PEC Zwolle now

Would say thanks, but 2nd post.
Hmm, I'm pretty sure the best team is Ado Den Haag, at least they were in my PES game, where they won like 11 Eredivises, with my Become a Legend Lorenzo Ramos leading the line, oh right, back to the story! |

Interesting how we have had a heated Eredivise discussion, but no ideas about what this story is about, has anyone read any part of it except me moaning at Feyenoord? |
