Best GTs of the last decade

So I'm heading to the US in a few weeks and I will have about a month there living on my own where I need to stop myself from dying of boredom (after doing all the usual touristy stuff and spending an unhealthy amount of time on this forum). So I want to try to watch through a couple of GTs. That's why I'm restricting it to the last decade - I need to be able to download at least highlight packages for pretty much every stage from CyclingTorrents.
So I guess my question is, if you had to pick 2 GTs from the last decade to re-watch, what would they be? I would like to avoid watching any of the Armstrong TDF ones (although I'm happy to watch the comeback TDFs because at least he loses in them  ). Also I have seen the 2010 Giro way too many times now so that's also off the list.

Giro 2005. Basso, Savoldelli, Simoni, Rujano and Di Luca all seemed like the strongest rider at different times. Alsogreat apotheosis on the Finestre |

From the last decade? Well since I'm only following cycling fully since Giro 2009, I'll say Giro 2009 and Tour 2009. |

2010 Giro was my favourite one. Really love that stage over the Strade Bianche during the rain.

That could be a good one. I haven't seen it and don't know a lot about it so there is some suspense there.
2011 Tour would have been another one but I did a rewatch earlier this year and it is only really the last handful of stages that are truly worth watching and that is speaking as a Voeckler fan.

The 2008 Giro was pretty fun, as far as I remember (I was pretty young back then, and not as into cycling as today). Not as awesome as 2010 of course, but it's always fun to watch Sella's hilarious performances.

Since I've been a cycling fan, I really enjoyed the 2007 Tour, all of the 2008 Grand Tours, the 2009 Giro and Tour and all of the 2010 Tours the most.
I'd also say that 2012 Vuelta was pretty good.
I would also really recommend the 2006 Tour. I downloaded that and it was quite nice seeing Pereiro winning the Tour and Landis with that attack.
If you are a big Iban Mayo fan like me, the Dauphines might be interesting as well as the 2007 Giro.
I try to watch races where some of my favourite riders did well, so I tried to go back and watch a lot of races Carlos Sastre was in and enjoyed those a lot.
If I had to pick two it would be the 2008 Tour and 2009 Giro.

Voeckler fan? 2004 Tour for sure then Emergence of Petacchi as well might be fun to watch.

Maybe the GT we enjoyed watching the most won't turn out to be the most interesting to re-watch, once the outcome is known and the truth is known about some of the main protagonists.
At the time, the GT I enjoyed the most were those whose outcome was the most unpredictable, mostly because there was no clear favourite from the start.
Not that I've been able to watch so many G.T. this last decade (if we exclude anything prior to 2004, only in the first two years was I not at work while they took place, and I only recorded bits of the TDF 2006).
In terms of TDF : in terms of GC fight, I'd say anything post Armstrong, bar Contador being the obvious favourite and winner in 2009-2010 (although A.Schleck offered him some challenge in 2010), and before Sky domination : it only leaves 2006, 07, 08 and 11.
I like the drama of cobbles too, and good fights in terms of sprints. Although I can also admire the domination of a sprinter over his peers (but I can't enjoy it when it's a G.C. man much above other G.C. guys).
2004 had Boonen claiming he was the fastest guy around, and would take on Petacchi. But no sprint elbow against elbow happened between them (either one got boxed in, either one had a mechanical or something).
I watched the Giro 2005 too (I had enough broadband and was an internee in the civil service, that left me some time). Basso was a machine, but somehow he cracked, and Savoldelli got him. I quite enjoyed it.
My memory tricks me for most of the rest. Lack of exposition to images...
I can remember chemical miracles here or there, or/and total dominations by a rider (Contador most of times), which means it wasn't so thrilling after all.

My first Gt memories were from the 2005 Tour, which had many great moments (Zabriskie, fantastic crash when Bernucci won, many even mass sprints, Weening vs Klöden in the best gt stage ever, Lance mountains etc)
I also remember the 2008 Tour as a Gerolsteiner fan, but i cannot say that I would look at it with excitement today.
The best GT of mine is still, as some of you have mentioned 2010 Giro. Action on EVERY stage, and exciting until the last. I cannot really think of anything that could make this race better than it was, actually. And the climax on the last mountain stage was legendary. I don't think my heart rate has been as high when racing
competition myself as it was then. |

Bar obvious 2010 Giro, i would recommend those tainted 2006, 2007 Tours, crazy shit happening every day. Also any Giro between 2005-2010 is interesting.
