Hi everyone, Cycleman here.
I've recently started developing a football (soccer) db but I am terrible at making equipment. So, I am calling on you, the PCMdaily members, to help me with shirts, frames etc. I haven't yet decided completely on what teams to put in the db, but here are the ones that are currently there:
AC Milan
Arsenal
Barcelona
Bayern Munich
Borussia Dortmund
Chelsea
Manchester City
Manchester United
Olympique Lyonnais
PSG
Real Madrid
Obviously more teams will be added, but these are the ones I have put a definite stamp on. Don't worry if your favourite team's not there it probably will end up being. In case anyone is wondering how the 'riders' will be sorted out stats wise, here you go. I remember a soccer db not too long ago where this was a big argument. I'm willing to listen to constructive criticism, however will exercise the right I have as db maker. I'm also willing to listen to possible stats for players/riders or whatever you want to call them.
Goalkeepers: Cobblestone riders/Ardennes & MSR types of races/Time-trial depending on my opinion of the style of the player
Defenders: Pure Climbers
Midfielders: Sprinters
Forwards: Stage Racers

Sounds good, (as long as Feyenoord is in )
Also, way too many roles for the GK here.
I would rather make wingers a climber(well, sprinter makes more sense because they're fast) and make Defenders Flat beasts(TT & COB, maybe depending if they are backs or not)
Otherwise, you would have way too few cobbles, TT & HI specialist, since for every GK, there are 10 players, and only 1'of 3 GKs can be a HI specialist in the current case
Also, you might want to ask if you can use this thread for shirts(You can resize them to PCM 13)

Thanks .
I actually didn't explain myself well enough. I judge the defenders (climbers) on how good they are as footballers. The better ones are the pure climbers (Pique, Evra etc.) and the not-so-good ones are hill specialists (Andre Santos, Maxwell etc.)
The same applies to GKs. The better ones are cobblestone riders and the worse ones are pure time trialists. Like in real life, some sprinters will be decent at TT and cobbles and some climbers and stage racers will also be good at Cobbles. Trust me it won't be lopsided.

Allright, if you say so.
But it would just make sense to have the defenders(normally very big guys) to be flat beasts.
But allright, mentioning that the defenders can be Ardennes as well, already sounds better(if only keepers could be that, we'd have a serious shortage of Ardennes & Cobbles specialists).
And I think we have a bit too many guys that can climb well(most defenders + most strikers&wingers)
But allright, you can decide all of that, good luck with the project!

Wingers will be like the Cavs and the Greipels, so they won't be able to climb. The strikers will be the Froomes and Contadors only different levels. So like the worst strikers will be like 72 MOU and 70 TT. The defenders are the climbers/hillers yes. Defensive and attacking mids will also be moreso punchers than sprinters. (Sagan)

I think you're better off determining specialisations according to their weight, length, speed etc.
E.g. Messi is small and quick, so he could be a climber with good acceleration.
Lukaku is strong and quick, so he could be a sprinter.
The average defender is tall and strong, so they should get high flat stats.
Etc.
Messi should get highest stats because he's the best player of the moment.
Lukaku should get average stats but with good potential.
Etc.
I can help if you want.

What you could also do is make def. midfielders workers, as both really get the least publicity and appreciation irl

I would say
Goalkeeper: TT
Defenders: flat beasts, TT, sprinter, cobblestones (the big guys would be better in the flat
Midfielder: ardennes, (lower) mountains, (GC)
Wingers: mountain, GC
Striker: allrounder
So, the taller a player is the better he is in the flat (you would not expect Per Mertesacker as a climber like Quintana )
and the technical good players/dribblers (messi, iniesta, götze, isco, neymar...) could be the GC captains
But, it is up to you |

Nah, Strikers have to be stage-racers, to me.
@Selwink No, you can't make defensive midfielders helpers, they are world-class and very valuable too in a lot of cases...

Just like helpers in the peloton (thinking of riders like Voigt)
edit: but this is Cycleman123s DB, so we should let him choose

So Messi will be the same type as Ibrahimovic just because they play on the same position, even though Ibrahimovic is 25cm taller and 30kg heavier? |

Well I think of it like this:
The goalkeepers have to be cobble specialists in my opinion. How many real cobble specialists do you know? Of course there are some, but take Cancellara for example, he's probably the best cobble rider but he's a TT specialist. There are way less keepers than any other position so some sprinters and a few climbers will be good at cobbles. Most riders are definitely sprinters (of varying skill levels ), there are definitely more midfielders than other positions, so they are the sprinters and the attacking and defensive mids are the Sagan/Degenkolb types. There are definitely more pure climbers than stage racers, so the defenders are the climbers/domestiques (depending on how good they are) and the strikers are the stage racers.
General Announcement: I have less time on my hands now so this will just be a sort of preliminary database. So pretty much it won't really include much potential or height/weight (which pertains to the stuff mentioned above).
Also, shirts are still very much wanted.
