:: Writers Introduction ::

First off ill start off by saying im a long time lurker here, reading stories, game information, bugs etc ... the usual, so thanks to PCM Daily for hosting a great fansite for the game.

Ill also add that although im an avid PCM gamer, I am not a cycling expert and probably lack alot of knowledge compared to other people on here (especially in terms of equipment as I dont ride myself) and other aspects of the sport.

However thats not to say im not a fan and watch as much as I can on Eurosport and ensure that I get every stage of the TdF watched as its been a part of my 'diet' ever since Channel 4 covered it in the UK back in the 90s iirc.

Anyway ive decided to brave it out and write a story based on a team that I will enjoy managing, I hope it lives up to expectations in here. I appreciate that somethings may not be ideal (mainly my results no doubt!) but I will do my best to ensure this is a realistic as possible and hopefully enjoyable.

:: Game Setup ::

Team - Lotto-Belisol
Game - Pro Cycling Manager 2013 (PC)
Version - 1.02 (game will update as Cyanide release patches)
Database - PCM.daily Real Name 2012 NC
Difficulty - Hard
Mode - Career

:: Notes ::

Please note that although I will select the racers and report on the teams results in all events, I will only mainly cover with full reporting style ie images/writeups on the WT events and National Championships that my riders will be involved in.

This will allow me to progress the story and cover all the main races/events, whilst also being a part of the team in the minor races.

I think saying welcome to the site seems wrong, as apparently you're a long time lurker so welcome to posting I guess. Pfft
Anyway good luck and hope this becomes a successful story, if I were you I'd still include short reports or just results of the minor races. Just a suggestion, this is your story and you can decide what to do Smile

Lotto-Belisol gamble on new Management
By: Brecht Decaluwé

If there is one thing we know about the Pro Cycling world is that it never stays still and today another change in the landscape of the ProTour came about as Belgian team Lotto-Belisol announced the replacement of Directeur Sportif Marc Sergeant with young Belgian Alex Pilsen.

Pilsen had been a part of the Lotto organisation for 2 years working on the scouting team, before catching the eye of General Manager Bill Oliver who decided that a change at the top could re-ignite the Lotto riders and give them the impetus lost since Phillipe Gilbert made the change to American's BMC.

i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/greip_zps18a2b508.jpg:: i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/vdb_zpse01be842.jpg
Above: Greipel and Van den Broek; 2 men who will be a key component to any revival of fortunes for the Lotto-Belisol riders

Oliver said "Marc (Sergeant) had been a great servant not only to us but also in the sport throughout his whole career. However we needed to change things up, make a fresh outlook on the upcoming season and to that end we decided to openly look for candidates to come in and take us forward"

He continued "We had many strong options but came to the conclusion that promoting from within the organisation was the way forward and after a lengthy interview and some very positive discussions, we decided that giving Alex (Pilsen) the chance was the right move for us"

The change may surprise outsiders to the team as Sergeant was well respected across the industry and looked to be in a strong position for 2013 with Andre Greipel alongside homegrown Jurgen Van den Broeck as their lead riders. Yet with Pilsen known for his eye for talent, this could be the start of a new era for Lotto-Belisol and a new belief that the team can rise to the heights of 2011 once again.

Im unsure if I can multi-quote, so apologies if this is a little 'generic' but I really appreciate all the positive feedback so far Smile

Hopefully I can make this enjoyable to read as it is to play!

To answer a question posed; yes I will recap races that are 'minor' as they are still important to me, the teams development in game and the story too.

Thanks again everyone.

A Look Inside Lotto-Belisol 2013
By: Cycling News

A rundown of who we believe will be the Top 5 riders for the team in 2013 and confirmation of the teams roster for the upcoming calender year.

1 - Andre Greipel
German born Greipel is a prolific sprinter in the current era of cycling. He joined Lotto in 2011 and enters his final year of his current contract in peak condition to prove that he can be the best sprinter in his class. Greipel has amassed 10 stage wins over the 3 Grand Tour events, whilst also notching 14 in the Tour Down Under to make him one of the most decorated sprinters still racing today.[img-r]https://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/greip_zps18a2b508.jpg[/img-r]

Lotto will hope and support Greipel in his efforts to add more victories to his glowing resume this season as they will look to persuade him to stay with them by signing a new deal. Greipel (pictured left) was recently quoted as saying "I am happy with Lotto-Belisol, the new management is something that we look forward to working with and im sure if things stay positive then I can remain as part of this teams future"

-----

2 - Jurgen Van den Broeck
Jurgen is the teams 'flagship' homegrown talent, as the Belgian remains one of his nations top riders. After beginning his Pro career at US Postal, he made the move to Lotto in 2007 to become one of the teams leaders. Notably during his career he has managed to finish in the top 10 of all 3 Grand Tours, including a pair of 4th place finishes in the Tour de France.

[IMG-l]https://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/vdb_zpse01be842.jpg[/IMG-l] This season the team will expect more of the same from Jurgen, his main focus will be on the Grand Tours as Lotto will look to him to support Andre Greipel in their attempt to collect stage wins across all 3 events. Van den Broeck (left) recently stated "2013 is a big year for me and the team, I have to step up and prove my abilities again and we hope to have a good season across all categories"

-----

3 - Jurgen Roelandts
Jurgen mk II may not be of the same class as his namesake, however this Belgian rider will play an important role in Lotto's season if he can reproduce his recent form and stay healthy through 2013. A Pro rider with Lotto ever since he made the step up from the Amateur ranks, Roelandts started well by winning the Belgian national road race Championship. A few barron years in between saw him go under the radar before he popped up in 2012 by taking the Tour de l'Eurometropole Yellow Jersey.

Lotto will hope that the recent success of Roelandts will give him the confidence to be a big part of the teams push for more recognition in the Grand Tours. His success might not be in achieving all the headlines, but that wont bother his teammates if he can play his role well.

i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/reolants_zps5203bd6b.jpg i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/vananedert_zps1ca6f562.jpg

Above: Roelandts and Vanendert, homegrown talent is important to Lotto for their identity and these 2 will give their Belgian fans something to be proud of

-----

4 - Jelle Vanendert
Another talented Belgian amongst the ranks in Lotto, Jelle had an impressive 2012 following on from collecting a stage win in the 2011 Tour de France. Known for his climbing ability, he will be an asset to the team and to Jurgen Van de Broeck in the upcoming Tours.

Jelle lead Lotto in the 2012 Ardennes Classics and could well fulfil that role again this year as he is in a good position to improve on his placings. There will be alot of expectation of Vanendert this year and its important for him to be able to carry that additional mental 'weight' going into 2013.

-----

5 - Greg Henderson
The 'old-man' from New Zealand enters the final year of this Lotto-Belisol deal and potentially the final year of his career as at 36 Henderson may not have many more professional miles left in his legs. However that is not to say he cannot be a factor in 2013, as Greg will want to add to his impressive CV before calling it quits.[IMG-r]https://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/hendo_zps3860e410.jpg[/IMG-r]

Known for his sprinting, its likely that Henderson will play a big role in helping Greipel achieve success in the upcoming season. However dont rule out Henderson from shocking a few should the opportunity arise.
