some of you may know that I am already busy for quite a while with this story at PPDB, but im gonna post it here from now on as well I am already in May but nevertheless the presentation first and then my latest reports from 'Course de la Paix' and 'Tour of Japan'
oh, and it's the PPDB2006 DB
Astana, KZ: Today the little brother that stands in the shadow of Astana, Capec, held a presentation in this building. Here they would announce their new manager and his assistant. There was a lot of attention for it since Astana cycling team really made cycling a well known sport troughout Kazakhstan. The manager came in and everyone was surprised. Didn't mr. Justin K. sign a contract with Milram CT just a week ago? Apparently he didn't and our first question was: 'Where you ever the manager of Milram CT'? Justin K.: 'Yes I was, but what can I say, the Milram leaderboard didn't give me the freedom I was granted and they were obviously still mad about me leaving them halfway trough the last season, however Capec granted me this freedom in signing riders altough all my signings have to be discussed with the leaderboard and the sponsor but that's normal'. After this his assistant walked in, mr. Borat Sagdijev and no one knew that he liked cycling, but apparently he is good enough to be an assistant. Then they began the team presentation but since one part of the riders was in France for training and the other half in Gabon for the Tropicale Amissa Bongo, we had to be pleased with this cheesy old picture:
The mr Kevenaar tols us something more about the team leaders and co-leaders:
Andrei Mizourov: The oldest cyclist in the team but also the most expierienced and probably the best in the team, he is not only the leader of the team but also has to coach the young guys. We will use Andrei in the small tours with some hills.
Maxim Gourov: Gourov was added just before this presentation and he will be our 2nd leader. He is good in climbing and he still has some time to grow.
Alexandr Dyachenko: Most of the time Alexandr will function as a sidekick for Maxim and Andrei but in some scenarios he could become our leader.
Valentin Iglinski: A young allrounder who has nice leg for climbs, for the hills. Plus, he has a good TT too. He isn't a great allrounder but he could be in for some top 10 finished in the small classics.
Assan Bazajev: And last, but not least, the team sprinter Assan Bazajev. Assan will try to win as much as possible in his (mostlikely) last season with Capec, but offcourse we will try to keep him for coming seasons.
The entire squad:
Andrei Mizourov
Assan Bazajev
Aleksandr Dyachenko
Maxim Gourov
Ilya Chernichov
Valeri Dimitrijev
Valentin Iglinski
Alexander Dimovskikh
Aleksei Zaitsev
Aleksei Lyalko
Yuri Yuda
Dmitri Gruzdev
Vadim Vdovinov
Nazar Jumabekov
Andrei Mediannikov
Total: 15 riders, all Kazakh
The Goals:
 Top 5 in the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali
 Win in the Giro del Trentino
 Top 5 in the Course de la Paix
 Win in the Vuelta a Asturias
 Win in the Tour of Pologne
(Probably I wont need to fullfill any of these to make it to the next season  )
And our only sponsor for this year is a kazakh tele communication company called Nursat
Dwight K. Schrute: 'I'm not a hero. Im just a mere defender of the office. You know who is a hero? Hiro from Heroes. That's a hero. And Bono'.

thanks
As said, I'm already in may and this is the CT ranking:
CT:
1. Team Wiesenhof - AKUD - 1351
2. Ceramica Panaria - Navigare - 654
3. Barloworld - 487
4. Selle Italia - 427
5. Team LPR - 357
6. Team Capec - 336
As you see we are doing pretty good, we got most of our points from Maxim Gourov and our sprinter Assan Bazajev, but no promotion aspirations this year...
now my latest reports from the biggest race in the Czech Republic, Course de la Paix
Course de la Paix, 8 Stages:
Zaitsev and Chernichov will try to get some top 1o finishes in the sprints and for the mountains we have Mizourov and Diachenko, Dimitrijev has a free role and so has Lyalko
Stage 1, Linz - Schrems:
A flat stage which took place in Austria, at first a group of 8 gets away. But because there are some small nasty hills in between the group gets smaller and in the end 2 of 8 remain up front with 1 km to go...but the peloton is right behind them!
Visconti and Von Kleinsorgen, will they be rewarded for their try or will they get eaten by the sprinters?
The CT leader Ciolek has no mercy and takes it, Visconti ends 6th...
Result:
1. Gerald Ciolek TEAM WIESENHOF - AKUD 3h18'37
2. Alejandro Borrajo MICHE s.t.
3. Emanuele Rizza NATURINO - SAPORE DI MARE s.t.

24 Ilya Chernichov CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
25 Artur Gajek TEAM WIESENHOF - AKUD s.t.
Stage 2, Schrems - Ceske Budejovice:
No one wanted to attack after Visconti's and Von Kleinsorgen's attempt yesterday that got neutralized in the final 100 meters, this made it easy for Wiesenhof that kept everything under control...now Ciolek only has to finish it
Ciolek and Rizza next to eachother and Rizza is the better one today
Result:
1. Emanuele Rizza NATURINO - SAPORE DI MARE 4h09'03

Ciolek still has the lead in the GC
Stage 3, Beroun - Karlovy Vary:
Another flat stage and most of the riders were trying to not waste so much energy for tommorow's mountain stage, we get ready for the sprint
Rizza up front and Ciolek is nowhere to be found, Chernichov is the one from Capec
without any real competition Rizza takes the win as Chernichov takes a nice 4th place in this strong field
Emanuele Rizza
Result:
1. Emanuele Rizza NATURINO - SAPORE DI MARE 3h51'25
2. Denis Bertolini ACQUA & SAPONE - CAFFÈ MOKAMBO s.t.

24 Giovanni Visconti TEAM MILRAM s.t.
25 Alberto Ongarato TEAM MILRAM s.t.
Rizza is the new leader...but not for long
Stage 4, Karlovy Vary - Teplice:
A real mountain stage, Mizourov does not belong in the list of topfavourites and looking at his shape a top 10 will make me a satisfied man, first a group of 8 escapes but of that group one man was the better climber and he now rides all by himself
Domenico Quagliarella getting his TV minutes
At the 2nd climb of the day he still leads but right behind these guys go into the downhill towards the final climb, in the group behind this 'Favourite' group are Mizourov and Diachenko
Cardenas leading the first group as 'the' favourite, in the 2nd group everyone is working to decrease the gap
The situation in the downhill:
E1:
84. D.Quagliarella (CER)
+ 46"
E2:
1. F.Cardénas (BAR)
2. P.Arreitunandia (BAR)
11. M.Iglinski (MRM)
15. B.Schröder (MRM)
21. M.Rutkiewicz (INT)
+ 1'45"
E3:
3. T.Kannemeyer (BAR)
12. M.Den Bakker (MRM)
31. G.Trampusch (WIE)
41. A.Mizourov (CAP)
43. A.Diachenko (CAP)
51. K.Van de Wouwer (UNI)
61. C.Pfannberger (ELK)
71. S.Cohnen (NSM)
75. M.Mares (NSM)
81. M.Spadi (CER)
91. P.Bencik (PSK)
93. S.Kozùbek (PSK)
101. H.Blank (LAM)
102. B.Glasner (LAM)
When Quagliarella starts the final climb he quickly loses time and then the group of 5 catches him, in that group Rutkiewicz and Schroder have to let go when Cardenas increases the pace...Iglinski doesn't mind and place a strong attack to which Cardenas reacts, one of these 2 will win. In the back Diachenko has done his work and he drops back. But who takes the win?
Iglinski 1-0 Cardenas
In the back Mizourov pulls the group and only Trampusch can follow him into the final 200 metres where he beats the Austrian for a satisfying 6th spot
Result:
1. Maxim Iglinski TEAM MILRAM 5h14'08
2. Felix Cardénas BARLOWORLD + 47
3. Pedro Arreitunandia BARLOWORLD + 2'09
4. Björn Schröder TEAM MILRAM + 2'53

Tour of Japan, 6 Stages:
Stage 3, Shumohisakata Circuit - Matsuo Stadium:
A hilly stage where Dimovskikh would try to defend his jersey but I don't expect him to hold on...who I don expect to hold is Gourov who, with tommorow's mountain TT coming up, could already put himself in the lead today or make sure that his main rival Lloyd loses time in him. With 30 km's it's clear that Dimovksikh is worn out as he lets go...15 km's later Gourov breaks away with a Japanese rider on his tail.
Dimovskikh loses his jersey, Right: Gourov breaks away with Fukushima
Gourov keeps the pace going because he doesn't want Lloyd to come back, he succeeds in this but the consequence is that Fukushima sprints out of his wheel to take the win, Fukushima also takes the lead
Fukushima takes his 2nd win and the lead, but Gourov is planning to take the lead tommorow.

yea sure, was planning to do that but forgot it
here are stage 1 and 2
Tour of Japan, 8 Stages
A squad with some guys in it who haven't seen much action like Dimovskikh, looking at the competition we could have a very succesful tour like we had in Greece. (Tour of Hellas)
Stage 1, Senboku Circuit:
A group of 9 gets away and only 1 would not make it to the finish, there is also someone representing Capec in this group and that is Dimovskikh. He isn't in top shape as this only his 2nd race this year, but yet he is by far the best climber in the group so even if he doesn't win the stage he could take over the lead tommorow. As expected he doesn't win and it's the strongest man in the group who takes a win well deserved
Kevin Pauwels wins easily in front of Zaninovic and Dimovskikh
Result:
1. Kevin Pauwels FIDEA CYCLING TEAM 3h21'26
2. Vinko Zaninovic PURIS - KAMEN - PAZIN s.t.
3. Aleksandr Dimovskikh CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
4. Makoto Nakata TEAM NIPPO s.t.
5. Daniel Stenkjær PYTHON PRO NÆSTVED s.t.
6 Remko Kramer MARCO POLO CYCLING TEAM s.t.
7 Markus Bastek TEAM PZ - RACING AACHEN s.t.
8 Kaoru Ouchi SKIL - SHIMANO s.t.
9 Barry Nolan TEAM MURPHY & GUNN - NEWLYN + 1'38
10 Matthew Goss SOUTH AUSTRALIA.COM - AIS CYCLING + 2'05
11 David Clarke TEAM NIPPO s.t.
12 Martin Neffgen TEAM PZ - RACING AACHEN s.t.
13 Kazuo Inoue CYCLE RACING TEAM VANG s.t.
14 Sean Finning SOUTH AUSTRALIA.COM - AIS CYCLING s.t.
15 Vladimir Duma C.B. IMMOBILIARE - UNIVERSAL CAFFE' s.t.
16 Yukiya Arashiro CYCLE RACING TEAM VANG s.t.
17 Simone Bruson C.B. IMMOBILIARE - UNIVERSAL CAFFE' s.t.
18 Yoshiyuki Shimuzu TEAM NIPPO s.t.
19 Wladimir Rybin C.B. IMMOBILIARE - UNIVERSAL CAFFE' s.t.
20 Erwin Vervecken FIDEA CYCLING TEAM s.t.
21 Urban Monks TEAM MURPHY & GUNN - NEWLYN s.t.
22 Assan Bazajev CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
23 Miles Olman SOUTH AUSTRALIA.COM - AIS CYCLING s.t.
24 Gregor Zajc PURIS - KAMEN - PAZIN s.t.
25 Jin Long SKIL - SHIMANO s.t.
Stage 2, Todaji Temple - Nunome Dam Circuit:
Today we had to climb, not really climbing but the hills that we had to face today were long and therefore tough...but with our strong squad we will try to lose everyone that was a part of yesterday's break so that Dimovskikh will be the new leader. First the break which starts the first climb of the day with the Capec's already bringing the pain in the background
The break which stood no chance
At the top of the last climb you can see that Capec is clearly the strongest team of all
Next to Bazajev, Gourov, Dimovskikh and Iglinski only Lloyd, Nodera and Abe can follow
On the way down Fukushima and Arashiro from Team Vang join together with Kelly from Team Murphy, Abe overestimate himself as he has his own red moment 25 kms from the finish, 9 are left but this doesn't mean that it's going to be easy for Capec. I quickly notice the 3 Japanese riders in the break talking with eachother and so are Lloyd and Kelly...they are trying to form a block against Capec as they attack one after another. Only Kelly doesn't attack but first Lloyd and Arashiro go. We take the back but Lloyd tries it again, gets caught but yet he tries it one more time and this time Fukushima uses him as a pacemaker as he attacks out of his wheel. Fukushima attacks at the right time and so the conspiracy team takes the win :x
This could have been a 1-2-3 if Fukushima wouldn't have been there, on a bright note Dimovskikh is the leader tommorow...
Result:
1. Shinichi Fukushima CYCLE RACING TEAM VANG 4h09'23
2. Assan Bazajev CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
3. Maxim Gourov CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
4. Valentin Iglinski CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
5. Simon Kelly TEAM MURPHY & GUNN - NEWLYN s.t.
6 Yukiya Arashiro CYCLE RACING TEAM VANG s.t.
7 Matthew Lloyd SOUTH AUSTRALIA.COM - AIS CYCLING s.t.
8 Aleksandr Dimovskikh CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
9 Hidenori Nodera SKIL - SHIMANO s.t.
10 Derek Burke TEAM MURPHY & GUNN - NEWLYN + 52
11 Simone Bruson C.B. IMMOBILIARE - UNIVERSAL CAFFE' + 3'19
12 Vladimir Duma C.B. IMMOBILIARE - UNIVERSAL CAFFE' + 3'43
13 Alberto Milani C.B. IMMOBILIARE - UNIVERSAL CAFFE' s.t.
14 Matthew Goss SOUTH AUSTRALIA.COM - AIS CYCLING s.t.
15 Kazuo Inoue CYCLE RACING TEAM VANG s.t.

2. Shinichi Fukushima CYCLE RACING TEAM VANG + 1'53
3. Assan Bazajev CYCLING TEAM CAPEC + 1'59

Course de la Paix, 7 Stages:
Stage 5, Bilina - Altenberg:
A stage which was quite crazy, a bit too crazy for me and that's why the Capec's weren't upfront in the end. A 2man break almost made it but was caught in the final km where an Austrian won a very chaotic sprint
Left: Hebik and Thijs were close, Right: Gerhard Trampush takes the win
Result:
1. Gerhard Trampusch TEAM WIESENHOF - AKUD 3h28'01
2. Martin Mares NATURINO - SAPORE DI MARE s.t.

Course de la Paix, 7 Stages:
Stage 6, Dippoldiswalde - Meerane:
A tough hilly stage where mostlikely Mr. Iglinski and Mr. Cardenas would battle it out, for Mizourov the task was to not lose time to guys such as Trampush so that he can still get his 6th place in tommorow's mountain stage. As expected 2 riders break away from the rest
Well guess who these 2 are
The situation when they go into the downhill with 15 km's to go;
E1:
1. F.Cardénas (BAR)
11. M.Iglinski (MRM)
+ 1'14"
E2:
75. M.Mares (NSM)
+ 1'02"
E3:
91. P.Bencik (PSK)
+ 47"
E4: Group of 16 with Mizourov, Diachenko and Dimitrijev
The 2 leader sprint for victory and again it is Iglinski who logically has better sprint legs than the Colombian climber, Mares ends 3rd and takes over Mizourov's 7th place and Bencik is taken down by the group of 16 at the finish
Iglinski strengthens his lead with 1 mountain stage to go
Result:
1. Maxim Iglinski TEAM MILRAM 4h26'50
2. Felix Cardénas BARLOWORLD s.t.
3. Martin Mares NATURINO - SAPORE DI MARE + 1'28
4. Björn Glasner TEAM LAMONTA + 1'54
5. Petr Bencik PSK WHIRLPOOL HRADEC KRALOVE s.t.
6 Domenico Quagliarella CERAMICA FLAMINIA s.t.
7 Maarten Den Bakker TEAM MILRAM s.t.
8 Andrei Mizourov CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
9 Gerhard Trampusch TEAM WIESENHOF - AKUD s.t.
10 Björn Papstein TEAM LAMONTA s.t.
11 Hannes Blank TEAM LAMONTA s.t.
12 Björn Schröder TEAM MILRAM s.t.
13 Marek Rutkiewicz INTEL - ACTION s.t.
14 Stefan Cohnen NATURINO - SAPORE DI MARE s.t.
15 Kurt Van de Wouwer UNIBET.COM s.t.
16 Christian Pfannberger ELK HAUS - SIMPLON s.t.
17 Pedro Arreitunandia BARLOWORLD s.t.
18 Valeri Dmitrijev CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
19 Manuele Spadi CERAMICA FLAMINIA s.t.
20 Stanislav Kozùbek PSK WHIRLPOOL HRADEC KRALOVE s.t.
21 Aleksandr Diachenko CYCLING TEAM CAPEC + 2'58
22 Matthias Wiele NOTEBOOKSBILLIGER.DE + 3'31
23 Tiaan Kannemeyer BARLOWORLD + 4'06
24 Leopold König PSK WHIRLPOOL HRADEC KRALOVE + 4'30
25 Gabriele Balducci ACQUA & SAPONE - CAFFÈ MOKAMBO + 5'17
GC with 1 stage to go:
1 Maxim Iglinski TEAM MILRAM 24h27'12
2 Felix Cardénas BARLOWORLD + 1'15
3 Pedro Arreitunandia BARLOWORLD + 4'47
4 Björn Schröder TEAM MILRAM + 5'37
5 Marek Rutkiewicz INTEL - ACTION + 6'07
6 Gerhard Trampusch TEAM WIESENHOF - AKUD + 6'42
7 Martin Mares NATURINO - SAPORE DI MARE + 6'56
8 Andrei Mizourov CYCLING TEAM CAPEC + 7'02
9 Petr Bencik PSK WHIRLPOOL HRADEC KRALOVE + 7'12
10 Kurt Van de Wouwer UNIBET.COM s.t.
Can Cardenas come back? And can Mizourov jump to the 7th or 6th place? We will see that now;
Stage 7, Wernigerode - Hannover:
The final stage which is a tough one, the first part ain't difficult but the hardest part is in the final climb where everything is going to burst loose, everyone gets nervous and attacks but the veteran Mizourov stays cool, but then he finds himself in a group with lousy climbers apart from Trampusch and Cohnen, so here Mizourov's comeback starts but where will he end? He first gets rid of Cohnen, Konig and Kozubek..Trampusch is still in his wheel but once they have taken over Kannemeyer Trampushc has to let go and it looks like Mizourov will take over his place. Then I see that Mares is already 4 minutes down so now Mizourov is 6th...no 7th because VD Wouwer is riding up front :x . Mizourov keeps on winning seconds but it seems like it will be a 8th place for him. But then he shows character as he in the final km takes over both Schroder and Pfannberger who both try follow him but then pay the price as they break down, a 6th place but it could have been better! Oh yea, what happened up front...as usually Cardenas and Iglinski were up front but this time Cardenas took control of the race!
Left: Cardenas takes the win, will he take the overall win on the final day?!, Right: Mizourov showed character but it wasn't enough for a top 5
Result:
1. Felix Cardénas BARLOWORLD 5h17'25
2. Maxim Iglinski TEAM MILRAM + 1'05
3. Marek Rutkiewicz INTEL - ACTION + 1'41
4. Pedro Arreitunandia BARLOWORLD + 3'01

A flat stage but we had to look out that Fukushima wouldn't try anything, he didn't but we did control the race because even though we have the lead we don't have a stage win so today we wanted to grab one in the sprint with Bazajev where everyone who was in shape co operated

Only 180 points behind Barloworld, I'm sure you'll be able to catch up. Unless you dont want to? |

I wont I want to keep our schedule realistic and e.g next month we only have the Tour of Serbia and the Tour of Slovenie while Barloworld and Panaria do much more races

And we're back were we left...of to Slovenia now:
Tour de Slovenie, 4 Stages:
Squad:
Maxim Gourov
Valeri Dimitrijev
Aleksandr Dimovskikh
Alexandr Diachenko
Valentin Iglinski
Alekzei Zaitsev
Dmitri Gruzdev
Aleksei Lyalko
Gourov will be our leader in a race which could be his last race since he has already had the most toughest schedule of all riders and is starting to get worn down
Stage 1, Lendava - Brezice:
A flat one where Iglinski was part of a group that made it...but only 2 riders of that group made it and Iglinski wasn't one of them :x An Italian and a Slovenian fight for victory and it would be decided quickly as one of the 2 clearly overestimated himself
Right: Bole and Dematteis looking at eachother, Left: Dematteis claims the win easily as he jumps away in the final 2 kms
Result:
1. Micula Dematteis TEAM TENAX SALMILANO 3h54'18
2. Grega Bole SAVA + 21
3. Andrej Hauptman RADENSKA POWERBAR + 1'01
