Hello from the top of Alpe d'Huez! I am team manager Nic Hashir, and I have begun leading the youth team of the future; Team U25! All of our riders are future talents, and we will be tracking our talents through seasons after they pass through the program! Now, of course, to make this interesting, I need some help!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
To participate, please PM me a detailed description of the rider you want to represent you. It can be whatever name and nationality you want! In your description, please detail the rider type you wish to be, and dictate what you want in this team. I will "phone" you with negotiations and such about the season, what your goals are, what teams have their eyes on you. Also, anything you wish to add to this is fine!
Here is an example:
Name: John Doe
Age: 19
Size: 175cm, 55kg
Rider Type: Sprinter
Short Bio: Lorem ipsum dolor...
plus whatever you like!
RULES
The rules are quite simple. Your stats will be predecided as not to have 79 overall 18 year old super-domestiques. With each request/negotiation/talk, your contract offers for the future will change. Also, with each race you participate in, your rider will gain points to be used on stat upgrades. This is the training aspect of things, and it rewards you for smart riding. Whenever a race will be run, the roster will be posted here, and then you will PM or post your race strategy for the stage. This strategy will be played out, and then the results will posted in a race report fashion.
THE TEAM
TIMM BAUER
A 19 year old with an incredible output of power, Timm Bauer got into cycling as a school commuter. He enjoyed it somewhat, and found that he was really good in competition! Timmy got his dad to help him get fit, at least until Pops couldn't keep up and had to contact the local team. When Hashir's scouts laid eyes on this kid, they picked him out of the bunch and offered him a position as a sprinter for the team. Of course, little Timmy accepted straightaway, and now he participates in a big way!
Pieter De Vries
Suited well to the rough roads of Friesland, 22 year old De Vries is a massive individual with a team focus. A rider who compares himself to a weak Cancellara, Pieter, team-centered man of extreme power, is likely to participate in every classic the team takes part in, as he is very strong in the cobbles. Though only being a cyclist for a few years, hopefully De Fries will do just fine!
Jens Vyncke
An 18 year old from Flanders, Vyncke has developed a knack for hilly classics. Assuming, based on where he resides, that he was involved in lots of competition, he also gained a turn of power up and over cobblestone peaks as well. Jens stated in his signing interview that he is more interested in gathering experience as a domestique for De Vries or others.
Wesley Zolderman
20 year old Wesley started Cycling fairly long ago, like most Dutch guys. In the Netherlands, where he was born and resides, he loved to ride up the hills, even at very young age. But when he got a little bit older, he went on holidays to Italy & France a lot. He discovered that he's a huge climber talent as well. Wesley is multi-talented, however. He rides anything that the manager wants, and has got a great sportsman's mentality. It will be a big question mark to what he will develop in; a pure mountain rider, a pure puncheur, more of a Voeckler, or maybe a stage-racer, if he focuses on time trialing. Some Dutch experts already spotted him and his talent, so he might get under pressure a bit. He can handle that though. We think.
Patrick Pery
Born in Madagascar, 17 year old Patrick never knew what professional cycling was. Until last year, when he took a trip to Kenya, were a local cycling club saw him walking along side the road and stopped to ask him a few questions. Given his very large size and intelligence, the club decided to keep in touch, and even gave Patrick a road racing bike as a present for training with them for a week, as they could see potential oozing out of him. Later, Team U25 got in touch with Pery because of an African affiliate's tip. Pery jumped on this opportunity, and now rides freely around the world.
Johnny Kelders
An 18 year old from the Netherlands, Kelders is seen in front of every peleton on earth. One of the most explosive riders on the youth scene, Hashir foresees many KOTM titles in Johnny's future. Given the fact that Kelders can climb well now, we should see some fabulous performances.
Juan Betancur
The 20 year old brother of Carlos Betancur, Juan is just like his older counterpart. Juan has always felt that Carlos was the skilled one in the family, winning all the awards, bringing home flawless report cards, having a perfect girlfriend. Juan preferred to stay at home and play with his toys, until, on a family vacation to England, Juan saw his first cycling race at the ripe old age of 13. He was instantly hooked, and practiced with his brother as often as he could. Juan and Carlos eventually parted ways, until Juan caught the eye of Hashir, who talked with young Betancur for weeks until an agreement was reached. Now, Juan wants to be just like his brother, and is expected to be very successful.
Thomas Hinault
Thomas was born and raised in Perpignan, France. At the age of 16 he dropped out of school and moved into the Pyrenees to pursue his burgeoning cycling career. Throughout school he'd been a member of a local team and had won several club races. He based himself out of Ax-les-Thermes, giving access to a wide variety of climbs. Thomas signed up to every Pyrenees based race he could find, and won most of them. If there was a climb on the route, Thomas was in a class of his own! By the time he was 20, Thomas had built himself a good reputation as a racer and joined the national program. The National Team supported and developed Thomas into the rider he is know, a driven character with serious talent and ability to climb. Now, a 23 year old with a passion, Thomas wishes to develop his other skills as well.
Peyton Scogin
21 year old Peyton Scogin is the first rider from Lichtenstein in a very long while. Growing up in such mountainous terrain, Peyton of course climbs for a living, and adds to a powerful mountain squad. Though very small, Scogin has always been a 1-week climber with a short time trial skill.
Jeffery Bakker
Though born and raised in the Netherlands, 18 year old Jeffery Bakker comes from a tragic background. When Jeffery and twin brother John were just 7 years of age, a house fire started after a burner was accidentally left on. Quick-thinking Jeffery rushed John out of the home, but couldn't save their father, who was asleep upstairs. Fortunately, the father survived, but remains paralyzed from the injuries. After this fire, the family moved to Germany, and lived in Aschaffenburg until 2010, when Jeffery turned 16 and left in search of a new life. He changed to a German nationality, and found that cycling was a passion. After overcoming such a tragic background, Bakker was king of sprinting among everyone in his competitions. Now, Team U25 wants to put Bakker at the pinnacle of cycling alongside Cavendish and Greipel forever!
John Saint Ledger
Born in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda, 18 year old St. Ledger learnt from an early age that school would not be important to him. He played sports with his friends and started working for his mother at the age of 12. But his passion for cycling grew since he got his first bike at 15 and trained around his house on the poorly concreted roads where he lived. He was scouted by a local team a year later and won a couple of local criteriums. From there, St. Ledger has now got the chance to race professionally for Team U25 where he'd love to, one day, reach the top of cycling's elite!
Gaël Kerso
A sprinter who hides in the shadows, 20 year old Kerso wishes to be a top leadout man so that his team can secure victory. He can survive in climbs, but don't expect Gallopin to stare you down. A young starter at 6 years, Gaël hopes to be successful even in minor leagues.
Jason Scott
19 years old, Scott grew up in the plains of Texas, a star running back for his high school football team until an injury forced him off the field. His family urged him to move to a different sport, and he tried some, but none ever really took. Then he found cycling, a place where the powerful legs he developed for football would also pay off, especially on the track where his strength could really shine. He has quickly been making his way up the junior rankings, and is looking was looking at joining a college cycling team, until he got this offer which was too good to pass up. Jason is the team's lone time trial focused rider, making him a valuable addition.
Alex Fischer
Following cycling in his early youth, 18 year old Alex joined an amateur cycling team in his hometown Aalborg. Because Alex loved to watch hilly classics, in his free time he often traveled to Silkeborg to cycle to the top of the Himmelbjerget. Due to this extensive training, he became better and better, and stood out from his fellow competitors, thus offered a contract from Team U25. Fischer asks that he be a spotlight member of the team for next season if not offered a contract elsewhere.
Mike Pye
A rider with a distinct track background, 19 year old Pye enjoys road cycling as well, and was given top marks in the sprinting category. However, it has been found that Mike has incredible difficulty climbing anything more than an undulation. Mike is definitely the team leader as far as flat classics like Omloop and Scheldeprijs.
Mark Krisa
19 year old Mark Krisa can't ever get enough of anything. Give him some fish, and he asks for the salt and 99 more. Give him a bike, and he'll ride for 200 miles. Give him some cows...well, he can get enough of that. Krisa is an average sprinter who does not take well to dopers. Mark will eat up, suit up, and ride his best, but often times he can't bring home a victory. Krisa's role is looking to be that he shall stay as a domestique.
Erik Johansson
An 18 year old out of Lund, Johansson quickly realized that he wasn't the world's best rider, but he is certainly the brain of the team. One of the brightest neurotypicals on the planet, Erik has an IQ of 155, and uses superior tactics to perfect his hill finish attacks. Team U25 also realized quickly that Johansson has never been "ruled" before, so his previous deal didn't work out. Johansson is a project cyclist, but has good raw talent.
Mario Russo
My apologies: 20 year old Mario Russo was missed in introductions originally.
Orjan Berg
Apologies: Not originally included.
Thomas O'Malley
NOTE: Member of Topsport - Vlaanderen
17 year old Thomas "Tom" O'Malley is a still very young Irish talent who hoped to join the continental cycling circuit one day. Growing up in the hills, he quickly learned to ride them. He'll be scared in the Alps, but there's not a lot of hills he can't handle. He's not a real sprinter, but he does have some speed. His usual trick is to attack on the last climb, or if it doesn't work, he can always settle for a sprint with the ones who survived the hills. His explosiveness is his main weapon, especially when the road starts to rise. He has a lot of potential, but doesn't always take things too seriously. There is something that some would call a drinking problem, but he describes it as harmless fun, and will quit once the season starts. Or so he says.
Emmanuel Kanza
NOTE: Team Europcar
Young Emmanuel was only 5 years old during the brutal genocide against the Tutsis, his ethnic group in Rwanda. One day, the Hutu warriors approached the Kanza family's hut armed with machetes. Emmanuel had been given a bike for his 5th birthday and had learned to ride it in no time. He jumped on his bike and watched as his parents and sister were killed. He then had to ride for 10 km with the Hutu warriors chasing him. In the end, they gave up and Emmanuel escaped into Uganda. He was then adopted by a Belgian cycling-crazy family in the Flandres. Young Emmanuel struggled with the language and was often bullied for his color, so almost every day from an early age he would take a long ride on his bike, going across the cobbles and riding as fast as he could on the flats. He soon started racing. Many of his competitors were surprised to see a black cyclist who rode the cobblestones like the Belgian legends and simply riding away from them on the flats. He then created a unique tactic that he won a lot of races with. Emmanuel would go into the breakaway, and around 10 km to go he would make and attack, and imagine that the peloton was Hutu warriors chasing him for his life. It was quite successful, and when he won the Belgian U-20 championships this way, the pro teams began keeping a close eye on Emmanuel Kanza. He has decided to represent his country of birth out of respect to his birth family. Now, 20 year old Kanza is a dominant Rwandan, and is national champion of his flag.
Armin Mujagic
NOTE: Team Adria - Mobil
Just like the predictions, Mujagic is another stage racer. Living in rocky Serbia, Armin hopes for glory very shortly. However, is his potential not as valid as everyone believes?
Henrik Svensson
NOTE: Team NetApp - Endura
Svensson was born into a rich family in Stockholm, Sweden. From a young age, he was good at most sports, but excelled at cross country. At the age of 14, he was competing at national level for under 16s. He however suffered from a long term ankle injury that struck repeatedly. He had been cycling since he was little for short distances, such as to and from school, but it was during rehabilitation from one of his ankle injuries that he was bought a road bike at 14. He went on long distance bike rides and took to it like a fish to water. His control of the bike was not exceptional, however his stamina was. He was quickly brought into racing and was able to power away from almost anyone in local races. He can manage to climb a few hills, but his preference is to the flat lands. He loves to attack early, and hopes to outsprint anyone who survives in a breakaway with him. He loves to get into breakaways, however he is also used to riding on the front of the main group to try and drag team-mates back into the race.
Marc Bennett
NOTE: Team MTN - Qhubeka
Marc is a highly regarded athlete in the state of Arkansas. In high school, the guy played football, baseball, soccer, track, tennis, and basketball. After watching the 2004 TdF, he was impressed by Lance Armstrong's tour, but what got him in cycling was the 10 days of little known Thomas Voeckler in the yellow jersey. At the University of Arkansas, he was offered a scholarship for baseball, but left the team after a year to focus on cycling. The first whole year he dedicated himself to his sport of choice saw him win 15 races on the collegiate racing circuit. He proved to other cyclists that he was incredibly quick on the bike, but did most of his winning on races that ended in climbs. He proved it was no fluke the next season as he won 18 races, including the Collegiate National Championship on the road. He has proven to be an incredible talent.
Erik Larsen
NOTE: Team Joker - Merida
After a 5 year stint of training, 21 year old Erik Larsen watched cycling in Denmark after heeding his father's wishes. He met Chris Anker Sorensen after a race, and joined U23 shortly after. He came prepared, though nervous, and proved strong in the mountains. He now feels ready for professional cycling, but where to start?
With all the best wishes in the world, this either won't start or won't get to March/April...
I'll still send in a rider and hope it lasts, but history and odds are well against this

LOL, I planned this at a good time I think, as I'm finishing up my PCM12 DB, and starting a story at the same time.

It's quite a bit of an interaction thing, I guess it will be a bit similair to the PCL(Not UCPCL, the thing francopell organised), but we're on the same team instead.

is this a game or a story like the spidertech-cervelo story?
Sort of like Spidertech-Cervelo, but we aren't a superteam with a well-established roster. We are getting you folks involved in making your rider into a legend through the U25 program that "Nic Hashir" created. Hope that explains it.
