Team Bauknecht - Author is a professional cycling team from Czech Republic. On a team roster is for this season twelve riders.

Transfer news

Before the start of season 2013 we decided to hire Dariusz Rudnicki, 31 year old Polish sprinter. We believe that Dariusz can bring our team some wins in upcoming season.

Team roster

TomášBucháček35
JakubDanačík24
DavidDvorský20
JosefHošek21
JiříHudeček26
TomášKalojíros18
StanislavKozubek32
JosefMaňoušek21
FrantišekPaďour25
JiříPolnický23
Dariusz Rudnicki31
Tomáš Zechmeister19

We decided to divide our team into two groups. First group will race from January to June while the second one from July to October.

Group #1
Leader:Paďour
Sprinter:Rudnicki
Lead-out:Bucháček
Team mates: Kalojíros, Polnický, Zechmeister
Group #2
Leader:Kozubek
Sprinter:Kozubek
Lead-out:Hudeček
Team mates: Danačík, Dvorský, Hošek, Maňoušek

Finances

Sponsor investment is only €19.333 per month and wages €24.750 (before we signed Rudnicki it was €22.250). So we had to minimise our expense and fired all our staff. But the difference is still €-5.417 that means that we have to make these money in races every month.

Goals

Our main goals for upcoming season are two home races, Czech Cycling Tour and Grand Prix Královehradeckého kraje and we want win both races. But we will participate many other races where we want to succeed (e.g. Tour of South Africa, Istrian Spring Trophy, GP Kranj and others).

Plan

First step of our plan is to survive first two seasons, that is how long our contract with the main sponsor last. During these two years with budget of only €19.333 a month we can´t afford expensive riders. But we are ambitious, we want to win and our goal is to promote into Pro Continental division by second season.
Second step is to find a new and richer sponsor which allow us to replace the most of original riders with better ones. We want to keep a team at least from a half Czech and target on riders from Central Europe.
Third step is to promote among world elite and become Pro Tour team next season. And then...

The beginnings: New Zealand Cycle Classic (2.2)

Season 2013 started for Continental teams traditionally in Oceania where took place New Zealand Cycle Classic. At the start met 170 riders from 25 teams among them a few good sprinters well prepared for the start of the season.

The best one was Nico Eeckhout who finished in Top 10 in opening 6.5 km prologue and won all four stages in mass sprint.

Our sprinter Dariusz Rudnicki was not yet in a good form so we conceived this race only as a preparation without any expectation.

We sent our riders into breakaways but none was successful. Nevertheless František Paďour managed to join breakaway two days in a row and he collected 19 points for mountains classification and before the final stage he led by two points. In final stage nothing changed and with Rudnicki finished once in Top 10 not bad beginning of the season.

Dreaming in paradise: Tour of Oman (2.HC)

We did not expect it but it became a reality. Organizers of Tour of Oman accepted our request and we could participate in a race category 2.HC!

Due to a collision with Tour of South Africa we decided that after stage 4 we withdraw the first group. To finished the race we called Stanislav Kozubek and Jakub Danačík.

With riders such as Goss, Boonen, Chavanel or Rodríguez and others we knew that it will be extremely difficult race with minimal chance for any success. Our strategy was to try luck in breakaways and show our team colors.

But František Paďour surprised everyone including himself during stage 2. On a short 3 km long climb he attacked and at the top a margin was about 30 seconds with 3 km to go. Peloton approached quickly but not enough. Paďour maintained his lead and could enjoy the biggest victory of his career.
